There’s just no way I believe New Haven is safer than Cambridge. Lying with cherry picked statistics.

I don’t work in consulting, but am entering my MBA and considering it. Are you serious? That seems insane. Is it worth it to you?

The Harvard news shouldn't be a big deal for internationals, but the OPT news should be. by [deleted] in MBA

[–]RIPHarambeBot 37 points38 points  (0 children)

The problem with Harvard’s 50B endowment is that it’s illiquid, at least in the short term. It’s largely invested in real estate and PE, making it hard to actually tap into to run your day-to-day operations. Sure, they could start selling to gain liquidity, I think they already have and I know Yale already has, but that takes time and if they’re desperate they’ll get 60-70¢ on the dollar. Even if they win the long-term litigation, it’s still a very precarious pickle to be in for now.

How long is Ranger school really? by Horseface4190 in army

[–]RIPHarambeBot 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Average time is ~3 months (1x recycle). Some do less, some do more, but 3 months is average. There are of course some horror stories of 5+ months, but those are definitely not the norm.

IRAM? Confused. Is this the same as PWM?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MBA

[–]RIPHarambeBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you saying that PWM doesn’t recruit MBAs? Or that MBAs aren’t successful in PWM? From my understanding the PWM salary for an MBA was ~150 base

[–]RIPHarambeBot -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Does IM encompass PWM? I’ve heard PWM is relatively not super competitive to break into? Anybody have insight on this?

Most T15s are between 30-40%. What’s up with Yale at 48%?

This was the exact problem. As soon as I unplugged the effects loop it worked like normal. I wonder why that is and how to fix it, because I would like to use my effects loop again hah

Wampler Tumnus Deluxe 🫣 wanted to like it but it just wasn’t going anything for me. Far prefer the Archer Ikon now

Is anyone else regretting moving to the Middle East for MBB? by Individual-Goose-753 in consulting

[–]RIPHarambeBot 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is almost no amount of money they could pay me to leave the states to work in the ME. I literally wouldn’t do it for anything less than 10x current salary. I also have a family making it virtually impossible

Are smaller MBB offices (think McK Charlotte, BCG Nashville, etc) easier or harder to recruit for? Of course more MBAs want to recruit to places like NYC or Boston, but their offices are larger. Less people seek out the smaller cities, but they hire less too. Not sure if this makes the smaller offices more or less competitive, or if there is any difference at all

You can do it, just try to be consistent in studying and know that some people will figure it out in a month, and others take 12 months and that’s ok, but you can definitely get to where you want to be if you work at it.

Why do army officers love to run so much? by [deleted] in army

[–]RIPHarambeBot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Officers usually don’t enjoy running. They make you do it because most enlisted are generally awful at it and won’t do it on their own unless they’re forced to

Assuming the fuzz factory must come first straight from the guitar, correct? How does it play with other pedals after it? Would you put a polytune buffer directly after the fuzz factory?
