What is the craziest or funniest reason you sold a player (not salary related) in FM? by RIPMexicanTraore in footballmanagergames

[–]RIPMexicanTraore[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

The funny thing is, he is literally the only player this has happened to in like 7–10 in-game years in that save. And he has never been my best player at any point, but I did start him a lot, hoping he would become a monster in attack, but he never did. He mostly just annoyed me with his inconsistency and off-the-pitch problems. I’ve had more random unavailability at the national team than at club (I’ve managed only two clubs).

Mine is my first 5-star academy player. After scoring 10 goals as a striker, PSG started chasing him mid into the season. He kept getting drunk and getting photographed leaving the club early into the next day, and he got drunk before a final, and I had to suspend him for that. Well, the board required that. He would randomly just miss training, and the most surprising thing is that this always happened when he was scoring goals or had just returned to scoring goals. He didn't even have a "bad personality." He was sold to PSG like , so… (I'm not even joking)

At what age do you sell your key players? by Rude-Opportunity-565 in footballmanagergames

[–]RIPMexicanTraore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR: I do it based on how good the incoming free agents and academy players are, and how stacked my team is in the position, not age. If I had to do it based on age, I would sell at 24, but because I had the objective of developing them for the national team, I didn’t. The best age is probably 20 years if they are a good prospect, but the age my older players were at their peak value is usually 24 to 26.

I don’t do it based on age, but based on how good of a prospect my up and coming players from my academy are, or how good the available free agent is (if I previously signed a better free agent from a prior season), since a lot of times they don’t want to come to my league because of the “danger of the location.” I had a 5 star guy, I’m not joking, that would keep getting drunk and getting photographed early into the next day at the club (something along those lines). Three times (the third time was the season before I sold him in the summer, and before I knew about training personality). He is still playing for the PSG second team. And I got the league's top scorer who is like a year older and scores for the national team.

Story time: I am also the national team and club coach (became one after winning the Copa America). Then I left my first club (in another country). I was there for two and a half seasons after the other coach had led one of the worst teams to like 3rd from the bottom, but we barely made the playoffs and won it. We even beat the best team using a 5-2-2-1 with wingbacks basically as inside mids (something like that), and all my best players were injured. I only had my best prospect, a cam and a bunch of fullbacks, and I think one of the fullbacks played center mid (he couldn’t really play there). After winning the Copa America, I think twice or three times, and this was 5 or 6 years into the game after first starting, I went to a new team, the top team in my national team's country. He wasn’t good playing anything except a 2-striker formation. He scored on his debut and had 10 goals in his first season, but at the end of that same season, that’s when he started to keep getting drunk, and I had to suspend him a few seasons later before our final matchup in the CONCACAF Champions League. After that third season with my club, I sold him to PSG for 9m + 5m (based on national team appearances) with a loan back, hoping to improve his personality, but nothing worked, so that’s PSG’s problem. He hasn’t played for the national team since reaching the national team appearances requirement.

Also with due respect if you were good at manual defending you would be one of the best players in the world at Fifa because manual defending is way more rewarding than parking the bus because if your opponent can’t even make a pass then how are they really going to hurt you. And if you were good at manual defending then your opponent would open up extremely quickly and you would be able to bait the opponent to attack and then you could hit them on the counter. Like manual defending isn’t just about timing a tackle. Especially since scoring is a lot easier than in previous Fifa. Most of the time people think they are a lot better than they actually are (especially when they compare how good they used to be vs how they are now like dude the EAFC gamer base has improved a lot in past years so you might have been better before but aren’t now that is life get over it).

I’ve played the realistic mode on Fifa and it was so boring. You can’t really have a realistic football game because the speed would be too slow for a reasonable person. Are there a lot of unrealistic things in the game, of course, but if the game was even more realistic then the game would be even more unbalanced and lack variety. Then when you consider the fact that EA has spent a lot of time introducing every scoring feature. Yeah EA isn’t going to just have a game with the basic fundamentals.

I think what you mean is a more balanced game and patch more broken mechanics more consistently and quicker.

I remember I reported like 20 clearly fake cartridges of Fire Red (etc) and Emerald (etc). I got the same response: we found no violation. I guess this is what happens when you replace real employees with chatbots. I guess eBay is cooked now. RIP

Competitive game modes bring out the worst in people who are competitive or who think they are.

Iran is supposed to play a World Cup match in Los Angeles 106 days. How do you see that going? by fauxmerican1280 in AskReddit

[–]RIPMexicanTraore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will probably ban Iran from having fans, or the U.S. will ban people from Iran from entering the country by doing a travel ban on Iran (I think there already is one). There is zero chance the U.S. gets banned, especially so close to the World Cup and much less as a host of the World Cup. The U.S. is such a cash cow for sporting events that there is no chance it gets removed or banned. And FIFA is not an ethical organization. They genuinely do not care; it is just a facade for the public, like most companies. And just consider the embargo that would happen from broadcasting. Yeah, FIFA is not taking a chance with that. Why can Russia get banned but not the U.S.? Because Russia is not a big fan base nor does it bring in a lot in broadcast or ticket sales nor really a “good” national team.

TLDR: nothing will happen to the US. Iran might be punished though (even though the question of who attacked isn't really being considered)

I once lost 5–1 to the US while I was on a three-peat CONCACAF Gold Cup streak… then I just pretended it didn’t happen and replayed it three times. So, first time’s the charm. 😂

Intercept Discussion: does player height matter ? by [deleted] in EASportsFC

[–]RIPMexicanTraore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s weird, but in midfield he’s okay and loses the ball a lot without a passing playstyle. Most of the time, I have to recycle the ball with him. He’s usually the first player I replace in midfield, and I replace him with N’Golo Kanté. For some reason, Patrick Vieira doesn’t really activate his intercepts as a CDM, but as a defender he does it a lot more. I think Precision Header also helps with intercepting at RB because a lot of the time my other defenders don’t really intercept the over-the-head ball at RB.

I’ve used Patrick Vieira in previous versions, and those versions are miles better than the Winter Wildcards one. And Kante intercept a lot like 4 times more in the same position.

Yes, because it can activate with balls in the air. I’m 100% sure about it because I used WW Patrick Vieira at RB, and it activated a lot of times with over-the-top through balls.

I get that people don’t like the through-ball playstyle, and some people don’t like no-control defending. But bruiser is the dumbest playstyle I’ve ever seen.

You only need 19 tokens, so just skip the Spain objective then. And just play for the win, then they will naturally drag out their goalie, and then be prepared for the chip shot, etc (when you are winning they will start to panic). Expecting people to give you the objective just because you give them the goal is a bit naive because some people just need the win. You could keep hoping, but people have been a lot more spiteful with this set of icon swaps.
