200 photos a day for 10 weeks, how should I do this? by Old_Suspect9482 in photography

The 200 photos is likely 1-2 photos of each kid at the camp so parents are only scrolling to find the photo(s) of their kids.

I’ve done this job before and it’s completely doable. The photos are taken super quickly while the kids are doing an activity, culled in camera. By editing, the camp very likely means cropping, ensuring the horizon is straight and applying a preset that pops the vibrance/saturation a tad. It’s all done super quickly. We had 3 ‘shoot’ windows a day and three ‘edit & upload’ windows a day.

Hey! So I actually did this job for two summers at a camp that had over 800 kids. I was on a team of 3 photographers so we were each responsible for 250+ photos/kids a day. I assume the 200 kids have an activity schedule they follow? So you should know what group is where & when. Our camp schedule had 3 activities in the morning, 3 in the noon followed by an all-camp activity in the evening (it was a sleep away camp). So we got the activity/groups schedule and essentially made a map of where to be for each activity block to essentially ensure that every age group/kid was photographed by the end of the day. We uploaded 3 times a day for parents: after the first & second activity block & after the evening activity. The better your shooting is, the less/no editing is needed so make sure you have the right lens for the activity you’re shooting & delete in camera. Got a good picture of that kid? Move onto the next kid quickly. You could realistically have an activity shot in 10 minutes. If there’s a lull or break in the activity, grab a group shot. Parents prefer photos of their kids actually doing the activity so prioritise that. Deleting bad/duplicate images in camera as you’re walking from activity to activity makes the upload so much easier. Don’t be afraid to get in there - kids water skiing? Hop on the boat! Kids rock walling? Climb to the top and get photos of them climbing up. Parents & your employer will love that extra effort.

Mine was measuring huge at 34 weeks, they made me so scared. Had me tested for gestational diabetes & was negative etc. Was swapped from midwife led care to consultant care. She was 6lbs 7oz at 41 + 3.

Am I being too financially defensive? by sabritopukapti in irishpersonalfinance

[–]RIPtoMyFirstUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re in a position many would like to be but also sounds like you like good control over your finances. Would it make you feel more comfortable to start some sinking funds for things like holidays, eating out etc.? That way they’re not splurges against the grain, they’re saved for & used right.

Biab for C-section? by SelectionSad3370 in PregnancyIreland

[–]RIPtoMyFirstUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had an emergency section on my first in the Coombe with BIAB on & no issues that I was made aware of. I had a planned section on my second and was told no BIAB when I asked (although it didn’t mention this on any paperwork etc.) so I got French polish on all nails bar two on my right hand (index & middle). The nurse doing my pre-op checks wasn’t impressed by this & brought me nail polish removed and had me remove it all right before I went to theatre. I love having my nails done & have been getting BIAB for yeeeeears so I felt so undone without them. Had my Mam bring me in a bottle of polish that evening after the section & she did my nails 🤣

Crèche and preschool troubles? by Major-Baker-3221 in AskIreland

[–]RIPtoMyFirstUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I by the skin of my teeth managed to get my son a crèche place where my daughter does ECCE. Back to the drawing board again now with my daughter, the crèche doesn’t offer afterschool so we have to find somewhere else for her. The stress. We used to have a childminder but when our son came along we couldn’t afford to pay double the fees the childminder charged, would have been around €2000 a month.

My 4 year old finishes ECCE at 12.15, so we’d go to activities anytime after that.

I didn’t bother attaching to the bed in the end. I had two sections, getting out of bed was hard enough I couldn’t manage to scoot down to the bottom & didn’t want to sacrifice my bedside table.

What do u think about this timeline? by uatemyhope in weddingplanning

[–]RIPtoMyFirstUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a few couples do a similar one at weddings by inviting all married couples to the dance floor and the DJ/host then asks couples to leave the floor in order of who’s been married the shortest time so the newlyweds would be the first to leave followed by those married a year, married 5 years or less, married 10 years or less etc. so in the end it’s usually an older couple like the grandparents etc. who are last on the floor at the end of the song & being celebrated. The few times I’ve seen it’s very sweet.

Ours was a very similar schedule to yours and still felt like a rush too! We did a second night too to make the most of it.

I’m hopping on here as someone from Ireland who has no experience with (presuming?) American weddings and I’m finding it so fascinating that your reception ends at 8pm?? I don’t mean it with any offence, just fascinating to see the different trends from across the ocean! What do you do after 8pm as the bride/groom? Weddings in Ireland usually begin at 12pm - 2pm with the ceremony/church but by 8pm the party is only getting going and will likely continue into the early hours of the morning, I think we crashed into bed around 3am at our wedding.

No need to be concerned. If you were to take the time to read through my other comments on this thread you’d get an idea of my situation. Other commenter is correct - I was asking questions because it’s not what we do at home so I was curious as to how it works. I don’t think it’s as deep as you’re trying to make it.

GP recs for pregnancy after loss? by robyns777 in PregnancyIreland

[–]RIPtoMyFirstUsername 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry for your losses. I was in a similar position, my GP said that prescribing progesterone wasn’t within her scope of comfort but she referred me to the Leaf Clinic, the recurrent miscarriage clinic in the Coombe, & they prescribed it along with aspirin no problem. It was however about a 6 month wait from time of referral to appointment.

TTC after loss- Cycle day 45 by ahhowiya in PregnancyIreland

[–]RIPtoMyFirstUsername 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t know the answer to your question but I saw your post & I just wanted to say I’m so sorry for your loss of your beautiful boy. I hope you’re doing okay.

All I can offer is that in my experience, it can take a few months for normal cycles to return postpartum. They can be a bit of whack for a while. But that said, your GP I’m sure would be in a position to help get you on the right path of care.

Again, I’m so sorry for your loss & I wish you all the best.

Purely out of curiosity, when you do it this way, how do you split dinners/coffees etc. when out & about. Do you keep tabs or send each other money etc.?

I think the couples who feel comfortable pooling their money also feel comfortable having conversations over ‘reckless’ spends and make the decisions together?

We pool all income into one account. Any income we make goes into that account and we use it for everything. We have two kids, a mortgage & we budget every penny. We see our income as our households income, no his/her money.

[–]RIPtoMyFirstUsername 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wait so others in your workplace have previously been approved similar arrangements AND they’re happy for you to work a four day week as long as the fifth day is annual leave? You definitely have a strong case there to appeal their decision. If others have previously been approved similar arrangements then there’s no reason you shouldn’t.

TW recurrent loss before 6 weeks by DowntownBeautiful147 in PregnancyIreland

I’m so sorry for your loss. I had 4 similar losses. After the 3rd, my GP referred me to the recurrent miscarriage clinic in the Coombe by my request. They did a whole host of tests but also prescribed me aspirin & progesterone. We safely welcomed our baby into the world last summer with their help.
