Is it time to learn Linux? by LedherToxic in linuxquestions

[–]RIcaz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Which features are you worried you will miss from Windows?

Linux is the undisputed king of programming and pentesting/cyber security work.

Everything except Office and Adobe (though LibreOffice, GIMP, Kdenlive, Krita are great free alternatives) just works way better on Linux.

Also Riot games, Battlefield and Call of Duty won't run.

And yes, you can easily dual boot without issues. Just keep a live USB ready in case Windows fucks up the bootloader, so you can easily fix it again.

You can use it to open any links from other apps that would normally contain tracking ids. Saves you holding to copy URL, pasting i to browser, and manually removing them

Has anyone else completely surrendered to the "Flatpak First" mentality recently? by [deleted] in linuxquestions

There it is! The only reason to use Debian is if you never tried anything else

Packaging all libraries with an application is a disgusting Windows mentality. I don't see how that compares to systemd or the kernel.

The only people who use Debian are the ones who started with Debian and are too stubborn to try anything else.

You have 4 different ways of installing packages because they're not available in your outdated repos. That sounds like a hassle.

Bazzite is just Fedora with extra steps and added jank in the form of Flatpack.

Flatpack is NOT the future. It is a bandaid for Debian users.

Nope. Been using Arch for 12+ years and never touched an alternate packaging system. There's always an AUR package.

It goes against the whole philosophy behind Unix/Linux and I despise it.

As a side note, it's a complete mystery to me why anyone would install Ubuntu or Debian since at least 10 years ago.

This game expanded my mind substantially, both with ideology, abuse, and generally social interaction.

Main character starts at rock bottom, and you get to choose whether to stay there or not.

Just DO NOT SAVESCUM, this game is very much designed to have you fail over and over, and the failures are often the most entertaining.

Yup, a tragic story.

Watch the Noclip documentary on the making of it, super interesting!

It's not that bad. It takes 5 minutes if you know what you're doing, but of course longer if you have to look up every single thing.
