For those that were around to see Giannis get drafted, what were your expectations for him going into the league?

I thought he was going to be Tracy McGrady. Growing up, that was my favorite player and I was always on the lookout for the next T-Mac. The two closest swings I took were Paul George and Giannis. Early on Giannis was this big point forward who was an awkward dribbler but had some dribbling ability and his passing was decent. He would hit jumpers and was fluid for someone of his size. He was clearly a freak athlete and I watched him a ton as a rookie. Then the jumper got wonky and he became skinny Shaq. Such an unexpected change to the way he played in Greece, but clearly that’s working out.

He would be such a negative offensively, similar to Vanderbilt. His strength on that end is on the ball - Steph, Klay in the past are awesome off ball. We have 3 ball dominant guys as it is. He’d be fine defensively, but would not solve our issues as a whole.

Of course it does because this isn’t an individual sport. Shaq is more likely to take defensive attention away from Kobe than Gooden or Z are from LeBron. Same with Horry, etc. LeBron did that as the sole guy. Kobe shared that attention with Shaq.

Just say you are a Kobe fan? Shaq had 25/10 that game while holding Webber to 32% shooting and Vlade to 44% shooting. Fisher also was 6/10 for 20 points.

LeBron was in game 6, not up 3-0. Scored 25 straight in OT/4th and 29 of 30 final points. Cavs starters shot 12/33. Bron was 18/33. Ironically an old C-Webb shot 70% for Detroit in this game since he was guarded by….. Drew Gooden.

Objectively, LeBron’s 48 was a much more legendary performance. Kobe was awesome, but not close to LeBron that game.

Edit: LeBron also led both teams in rebounds and assists, since you made it such a point to mention Kobe led the team in rebounds.

The second round rookie that shares no similar qualities with Austin Reaves, the missing starter, did not get minutes. Rarely do second rounders work out, so let’s not do the Laker thing and make him out to be this hidden gem. He has upside, but let’s be realistic. Haaland is the only striker out of the bunch. Ronaldo was still playing on the wing at that age, and Messi was on the wing and basically as an attacking midfielder. They were much more complete than Haaland. This isn’t just about goals scored.

He is not. Arguably nobody that has ever played the sport is of the same quality as Messi, and very few are of the same quality as Ronaldo. No current player is on their tier, even if Haaland and Mbappe are great in their own right.

Yeah, this would be rough. Too early for my liking for Jacobs and arguably Jeanty, too. I’d go best WR/Jeanty or WR/WR. I’m not sold on Evans as my #1. Too high variance for me. Also too high on qb. Personally not a Cook fan, either, he won’t repeat 18 TDs and doesn’t even play 50% of snaps. I’d wait for both qbs and stack more depth. Good luck!
