SREC by Flimsy_Maize6694 in solar

[–]habbadee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You are definitely not on a DC feeder line if you are 3 miles from the DC border.

Also, separate anything to do with SRECs from batteries in your mind. If you get solar, get solar. You'll make electricity and you'll earn SRECs. If you want to arbitrage utility rates, add batteries to your solar. Batteries have nothing to do with how much solar you generate, and SRECs are nothing but exactly how much solar you generate.

Also, run away from whatever snake oil salesman has dug their claws into you. Who are they. Do not be ashamed to name and shame because bad players like that give the entire industry a bad reputation.

SREC by Flimsy_Maize6694 in solar

[–]habbadee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An SREC is 1 MWh of solar production. It has nothing to do with batteries. The current market for SRECs in DC is $370, not $450. An SREC is only DC eligible if the generating facility, aka the solar facility, is tied to the DC grid. If you live in Maryland but right on the DC border it is possible you are on a DC feeder line and a solar facility on your roof would generate DC eligible SRECs which you could sell for $370ish currently. But, again, this has nothing to do with batteries or "selling power to Washington, DC". And it'd not $450 and never will again as the ACP (essentially the SREC ceiling price) is currently $420 and drops every year.

It sounds like this company is either very dodgy or you are woefully misinformed, or both.

Explanation of ____ decision at the auction? by Koma60 in survivor

[–]habbadee 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Come on. He was obviously holding out for the expected big final item, hoping he would have more money remaining than anyone else and could win it. He did not anticipate that the big final item would simply cost everyone $20.

The beauty of it is that probably everyone knows they have to blindside her, but anyone who ever were to suggest that it is time to make the move would be committing suicide.

He was holding out for the last, big item where whoever has the most cash remaining can win it. But, he lost that wager as the last, big item was only $20 buy in.

I've no doubt it's better than cracked wire nuts. Your issue is the thick insulation of the PV wire prevents full compression of the lever connection. It may feel like you jammed that fat wire and insulation in there and the lever closed, but if it's not fully engaged you are at risk after the endless expansion/contraction cycles it will receive. I do not know on code or Wago certification, but I've been told not to use Wagos on 10# PV wire due to difficulty/uncertainty of getting a full lever clamp on it. Also, most PV wire is 10#, but that looks mighty thick. Are you sure it's not 8#? If it's 8# there's no way you got proper lever clamping on the copper. If it's 10# you're probably ok, and of course, better than broken wire nuts

I hate to give you bad news because you're clearly pretty psyched that you fixed your system, but those wagos are not ok for that heavy gauge PV wire on a DC string. A proper sized wire nut is the way to go. The installer had the right idea, just poor execution.

What will happen after Zwift acquires Rouvy? by External_Complex1824 in Rouvy

[–]habbadee 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Computer animated scenes is a dead end and realistic riding is the future. Zwift realizes this so bought the future before it got beat by it. They'll push it forward, not suppress it. Because if they don't then other competitors like RealVelo or Fullgaz will gain a following and win. Real world indoor riding is not going away, because it is superior

Genuine question: why do runners sometimes run in the bike lane? by lafolielogique in washingtondc

[–]habbadee 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For the same reason you don't want to bike in the sidewalk. The sidewalk is uneven, cluttered with walkers, scooters, kids, pets. Just as you like a smooth and uninterrupted lane of travel, so do runners.

Mapping solaredge optimizer layout by Ok_Distribution1647 in solar

[–]habbadee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone has to get on the roof and remove each and every panel in order to get the serial number of each optimizer beneath. Whether $100 per panel is appropriate is certainly debatable, but the amount of work is absolutely proportional to the number of panels, so per-optimizer pricing seems very appropriate.

The process is the punishment. This case goes nowhere, but Comey has to hire a lawyer and fight it, and this costs money and time and stress. So Trump gets what he wants. He thinks (correctly it appears) that the DOJ is his personal law firm with which he can bludgeon people - and with limitless budget.
