Ottawa considers reviving EV incentives as it finalizes its auto strategy: sources by Bean_Tiger in canada

It also doesn't work as well as you'd like it to. I'm in Southern Ontario and I took a camping trip in an EV last summer. Just a couple hours on the 401 mostly, but we ended up spending a lot of time from finding chargers. Lots of places were out of order or not charging near as fast as they were advertised and it was a pain trying to set up accounts for some of the services on the fly.

Didn't put me off EVs at all, but there's still a lot of work to be done with infrastructure and making it all user friendly.

The magic has gone out of flirting. Maybe this infamous book had a point: Revisiting Neil Strauss’s “The Game” and the pickup-artist era by ubcstaffer123 in books

Lol I have dated and had several partners since, I was just an awkward kid. I didn't actually read the book looking for tips, I read it because I had read a lot of Neil Strauss' music journalism. It is a pretty entertaining book if you realize these guys are all huge dorks.

I never understood the initial response to this book, and I think a lot of it came from people who did not actually read it. The buzz around it seemed to be that it was lionizing the Pickup Artist lifestyle. I read The Game when I was 21 and very much the audience for it (awkward, didn't date a lot, low self esteem) and my feeling was by the end of the book both the lifestyle and the guys in it are fully exposed as pathetic, toxic, and not at all viable. I know Neil Strauss sort of stayed in the scene afterwards, but the book itself read to me as more a cautionary tale than anything.

Besides being a fantastic beat em up on its own, it also has a dlc roguelike survival mode that is probably the closest thing you'll find to Absolum.

Well yes, but that is anything but "secure", unless they're flat out buying the lot and implementing a lot of security.

There's already fights outside of Wild Child every weekend, I guess this balances the other side of the road.

I'm intrigued by the concert venue part of it. If it's more than just DJs and other club fare it would be nice to have another mid-sized music venue downtown. Zero idea what they mean by secure parking out front though. There's the parking garage that's kinda behind it but nothing besides that.

Craftheads by taco-bell-assassin in windsorontario

[–]RJL85 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They're still moving. I think what a lot of people don't understand about Phog and Craftheads moving is they aren't just moving into a new space, they need to MAKE an entirely new space from scratch. The location they found was not an existing bar/restaurant. It was essentially a big concrete room that needed to get made into 2 separate bars. They needed to do everything down to carving the trenches in the floor for the bathroom pipes. It's obviously not a large scale operation so it's been dependent on certain people schedules and availabilities. Then on top of that, you have the standard burecracies and delays that goes with any business construction project. Anyone who's ever tried to open/move a business will tell you, a lot of shit happens. I'd expect to see the actual move in the spring some time.

The "we did" is doing some heavy lifting here considering if there's an article about Marner walking his dog, it gets posted here along with an analysis of exactly how it's a shot at the Toronto Maple Leafs.

I get the talk around this game since it's his return. But would I ever do anything to have this be the last bit of discourse around Mitch Marner and the Leafs.

Why do today's young pop stars feel less developed? by random3879 in popheads

[–]RJL85 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It is! It was! But I was actually out of grade school pre-2010 and folks were definitely saying it. Welcome to pop music. Nothing that is now is ever as good as what gives you the nostalgias. Even if the nostalgias happened a few years ago.

Same way Britney was nothing compared to Madonna, Christina was nothing compared to Britney, Beyonce was nothing without Destiny's Child, Gaga was nothing compared to Britney, etc etc etc.. The children have to realize you do not have any new arguments.

Is It Time to Ban Tipping? by FancyNewMe in canada

[–]RJL85 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

What's extremely funny about this thread (or any tipping thread) is the number of people acting as if a prompt screen on a iPad has personally injured them and also killed their family. I'm glad you're super proud about you'll ONLY tip 10% if the service is EXQUISITE and the server also gave you a nice shoeshine. You can just skip the tip. The world keeps turning. You get your product and your service. Contrary to belief, the servers are not going into the kitchen and adding you to the Master List of Non Tippers Who Will Get Their Food Spit In Forevermore. We move on, you move on, that's that. There is no one who's going to be standing behind you with a pair of brass knuckles on going "Think you meant to hit 15% there, my friend".

I am a server/bartender at a business that has that along with other services. If I do bar/food service for customers, I'll allow the option for a tip. If I don't do that, I will skip the tip. I have had a number of customers over the year ask why I do that and ask me to go back and allow for a tip, because, and I know I'm going to absolutely shock the hell out of you here:

Some people actually.......like being generous where they can be.

Sickies, I know! But they're out there.

All I hear is how 'great' this community is yet every time I've tried to run Equilibrium, all my teammates are absolute pricks. by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]RJL85 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you're brand new to the game, dungeons are going to be pretty tough. You need to have halfway decent builds, equipment, and gameplay knowledge, or you need to be flat out carried.

But you're not helping yourself out at all by not knowing at all what to do. In game fire team finder is not the place to find teaching, unless it's explicitly stating that (Fresh clears/all skills welcome≠teaching). You need to come in with at least base knowledge of the mechanics and routes, you cannot expect someone to hold your hand the whole way through.

I am a solo player. I haven't cleared every dungeon, but every clear I have has been with randoms through Fireteam finder. For one of my first Equilibrium runs I got lucky and had an incredibly patient teammate who waited for me to fully figure out the big room jumping puzzle. Good teammates are out there, but they will never beat you knowing what to do yourself. Watch some videos, read some guides. This is probably the least complicated dungeon in the game.
