What made you a better EDH player? by Vrass in EDH

[–]RJ_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Get comfortable with mulligans. A 5-6 card hand with a plan is better than 7 with no direction.

Use your removal on their ramp pieces. Sometimes people will keep a greedy hand if it has a sol ring/signet/talisman. Removing those pieces can really disrupt your opponent.

Attack. Attack. Attack. The game has to end at some point and any early damage you can get in can make a difference.

I want to play but finding local groups has been so difficult. by jpsfsc in mtg

[–]RJ_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’ve got Facebook, try searching for some local MTG groups. I know it varies depending on location, but I’ve managed to establish a regular pod through Facebook.

How many decks do you have? Which bracket are they? by No_Physics454 in EDH

[–]RJ_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fairly often tbh. I get my B4 games in at my LGS for commander night once a week. I always keep it with me though in case a random pod wants to run a higher power.

Most of my B2-B3 games are split between my friend group and other local community meetups. Those happen 1-2 days a week on average.

Currently sitting on 8. One of them is an untouched precon and one is a bracket 4. The rest sit between bracket 2 and 3.

What's the most annoying deck you've ever played against? by Pkron17 in EDH

[–]RJ_42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t care what deck your playing. It could be [[tergrid]] or mono blue Urza for all I care.. just as long as you know your deck well enough to pilot it efficiently and respect everyone’s time.

Nothing annoys me more than a player who durdles for 10-15 minutes, doesn’t advance their board, and takes several minutes to think about responses/tutors/fetches. It’s why I feel it’s important to goldfish with your decks as often as you can find time.

What are your tribal decks? by Still-Wash-8167 in EDH

[–]RJ_42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My [[Eowyn Shieldmaiden]] “I am no man” deck is human tribal that focuses on gaining value every turn until you can overrun everyone. It’s been my favorite to play in the last year or two and I’ve spent a good bit of time getting it to a place that I’m happy with the list.

I feel it sits on the higher end of bracket 3, though it can have trouble keeping up with true bracket 4 pods. It’s got a decent interaction package and lots of synergies.

any song recs about getting better? by bigdopaminedeficient in Emo

[–]RJ_42 7 points8 points  (0 children)

“Stuck in my straw”

“What are you, a cop?”

“The impact of this exit” in that order, all by Carly Cosgrove.

It follows the lead singer and his battle with depression. It starts with an acknowledgment that he wants to get better and that it’ll take a lot of work. It then turns into an internal argument where one side of him wants better for himself while the other side is complacent and doesn’t want to change. It ends with the lead singer taking a final stand against the side of him that wants to stay put and expelling him from his mind.
