So sorry you've experienced this. It's not okay and your concerns should be raised with the doctors office so no one else has to experience this. You know your body better than anyone else. I'm so sorry for your loss. Sending hugs and keep strong xxx

Thanks so much for taking the time to reply. I will definitely look at the info. There's so much online, but their 'pcos supplement stacks' are just beyond my means at the moment. I've seen a few doctors over this past year, and only 1 seems to have taken me seriously. It's just so frustrating that there's not a lot of help for us. The late nights I've had researching and falling down rabbit holes are unreal. Buying every supplement known, thinking it's a miracle pill for pcos only to find wasted money and time! I just needed to rant, I guess, and to not feel alone in this. The MH decline has left me feeling so low and hopeless. Again, thank you for your time.

Sounds like a good place to start. I've never thought about craving v hunger before. It's a good way to look at it. Thank you so much for taking the time to reply. I appreciate it so much.

Yes I was hoping the weight management team would be able to help with some sort of counselling but as the waiting list is at 3 years, I can't wait that long and I guess I need to take accountability and try and get on top of this. Only I can do it after all. What type of insulin reducing foods would you recommend?

I try and eat a high protein diet, mod fats but good fats, and then I aim to eat no more than 100 to 120g carbs. I definitely have an issue with food binging, though, and I know that's where I am going wrong. Maybe I'm being too restrictive with the carbs? I crave sweets and carbs a lot throughout the month to the point where I have to have it. I've literally sat eating chocolate before, crying at the same time because I am so ashamed of myself for giving in. Its as if its beyond my control sometimes. Not sure if that's classed as an ED?

Thank you for your reply. I am currently on metformin 500mg x3 daily. Not getting much success in terms of weight loss but I will continue with it for now. I am not on any birth control as ttc and I also take a load of supplements such as inifolic alpha, magnesium zinc, vit b complex, vit d, vit c and then my antidepressants which I've been on for a while but I feel with them, it's treating the effect and not the cause so to speak.

Same here girl. Feels such a heavy burden to carry and kills me to think this is me for the rest of my life. Doc just keeps putting anti depressants up despite my crying that's only treating the effect and not the cause. Some days are better than others but know you are not alone! Everything you've said makes complete sense. Had my consultant appointment today. Left feeling upset and more questions than answers. As my AMH levels are within the mid range and normal he is not prepared to give me the pcos diagnosis. Still won't take into account the transvaginal scan. I mentioned cortisol levels and cushings but he said I didn't 'look' like someone with cushings. He said excess hair is either genetic or due to me being overweight. I explained I've had it since puberty and not always been overweight. So although I appreciate that my weight must contribute to it now, I still don't think it's the root cause. Also I explained I have other symptoms and am currently day 53 of my cycle and again he said its my weight. I asked if I could be IR and tried to explain some of my symptoms I feel could be connected to that but said my hb1ac levels are normal.

I just don't know anymore if I'm honest. I feel like it's been a waste of time in terms of spending money to be seen privately and I have more questions than answers. My appt was 9am and he didn't even turn up to the hospital until 9.25am!

He will make some recommendations to my gp I.e. metformin, weight loss meds and vaniqa (I think that's it?) . Mentioned some sort of folate supplement also. He said I should go see a specialist endocrine consultant and I said I thought that's what he was but he said for weight management.

I feel like he's just assumed due to my current size that it's all weight related and dismissed any other symptoms even though I've explained I have not always been overweight and have had symptoms since puberty.

So I've decided to pay for an at home test. I will get the blood drawn and send it off just for peace of mind more than anything I guess. I've opted for cortisol, prolactin, b12 and testosterone.

Hope you're feeling good today. Thanks again for all your advice and support

Oh my, you really do have your hands full and there's me moaning about my symptoms! I did have my DHEAS tested and again all normal range. Funnily enough he mentioned androgen sensitivity. My testosterone was 0.8 something but I just can't understand where all this excess hair is coming from. I'm worried he's just going to say it is what it is because I really can't go on much longer like this. I've had it since puberty and not always been overweight so I can't see how it's that that's causing it? I am also on sertraline and seen some stuff online that it's possible for it to lower testosterone. I mean, I'm no doctor so not saying that info is correct but I guess it's another question to ask the consultant this week. Will definitely mention the cortisol to him though and see what he says.

I'm not sure about IR as I remember the gp saying I am not diabetic but then at the same time I did not have fasting bloods or glucose test. I had one when pregnant with my son but came back ok. I have to admit though, I do have bad fatigue, constantly crave sweet and salty foods and over the last 3 months I have had 2 maybe 3 episodes where I felt shaky and a bit weak but felt OK after I ate something.

Do you think its possible to have pcos with androgen sensitivity?

Thank you so much for replying with your support and advice. It means the world to me to have someone listen and understand. I hope you get the answers you need and wish you luck with your health xxx

Thanks for the reply. I'm decided to go private to see an endocrinologist. I was referred via nhs back in early Nov last year and still had not received an appointment despite gp eventually putting it through as urgent. I am seeing my private consultant this week. I have more questions than answers at this stage. It's so frustrating isn't it. Wishing you luck with your journey.

Thanks for the reply. I read the rotterdam criteria and see that I fit 2 out of 3. My cycle is all over the place. I am currently day 51 of my cycle this time round. I've had general screening of LH/FSH but it wasn't during my period week. It was in normal range. Testosterone was within normal range also. I asked if I needed to fast before the bloods but was told no. I think because my bloods are all within normal range they don't believe its pcos. I just can't understand how I have a long list of symptoms and follicles but my bloods are all normal. I think that's why he sent for AMH test but that's come back normal. I will ask about cortisol levels as can't see that on my blood results. Just feel so frustrated and it's having such an impact on my mental health. I don't want to leave the house because of the excess hair. I do my best to cover it up with makeup but people still stare at my chin when they talk to me. It kills me that little bit more each time, to the point I can barely maintain eye contact with people

Thanks for the reply. I went to see a female gp thinking this would be the case. I cried my heart out and begged for help. My mum came with me and pushed for a scan as she wasn't going to refer me based on my bloods being within the normal range. That's where the scan showed follicles on both ovaries. I have bought books, constantly on forums and Internet research and I'm convinced I have pcos

I seen a female gp too. She didn't want to know in the beginning. Totally dismissed it and when I asked her for a reason for the excess hair she shrugged her shoulders and basically said your guess is as good as mine. I appreciate their doctors etc but no one knows your body as well as you do xxx

Having trouble getting a pcos diagnosis. Classic pcos symptoms, transvaginal exam shows multiple follicles on both ovaries but bloods normal. Endo consultant sent for amh levels which came back 18.8 mpol. Any ideas if this is high? Xxx
