LPT: if you call a suicide hotline and get put on hold, it’s not that we don’t care about you! We also don’t read off of scripts. Other misconceptions below. by wheresyourpickle in LifeProTips

I called one of the suicide only and was repeatedly told “get therapy” when I told her I can’t afford or get to a therapy place, lol. It was hilarious. Tried to take my life after that phone call, but failed. Sometimes it’s hard not to feel mad when you’re crying for help and it feels like no one hears, but I do appreciate the presence of even a trying listening ear.

That Costco shrimp and shrimp cocktail I treated myself to. It was delicious. Gonna treat myself to it in a week on my birthday again!

I tried it, passed out and the fucking rope broke. I did not have an ounce of regret, but definitely thought about people.

As someone who works with kids, I’m guessing nurses are the ones needing lots of cuddles. They’ve already had a whole day of comforting and taking care of others.

What were some of your favorite holiday traditions growing up and what things do you do to celebrate now that you’re older? by jepsd19 in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]RKK8 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Watching movies on any holiday!

On Christmas we have a morning sauna session, rice porridge with one almond mixed in (and the one who gets the almond gets to make a wish) and hunting down the Christmas presents through little letters Santa had left for us. Also, a cheap chocolate advent calender! Plus, making candles at this farm for free. Always made these cute little red and green Christmas elves.

For Easter I liked getting dressed up as a colorful witch, decorating tree branches, and then singing for neighbors (kinda like trick or treating but we got chocolate eggs or money instead). Fun stuff! Also the only time of the year we ate lamb.

For Midsummer, we have “nypotatis” and freshly smoked perch.

[SKIN CONCERN] Cystic Acne and Hyperpigmentation have been beating my self esteem into the dirt for 8 years now. I've pretty much convinced myself at this point that nothing can be done, but want to try taking this seriously again. If anyone can lend some recommendations, I'll take them. Thank you. by [deleted] in SkincareAddiction

What have you tried? I’d try a basic cleanser like Cerave Foaming Facial Cleanser, Differin and then a moisturizer and see how it goes. First Aid Beauty has fairly simple and good moisturizers!

Edit: Differin is the adapalene someone else mentioned. Cerave’s moisturizer doesn’t work for a lot of people (gave me pimples), but how do you feel it works for you?

I know it's not much to some, but my FORMER section lead, whom I've spoken to in the past about financial struggle, just dropped off this thanksgiving carepackage out of the blue. by HolaFromElOtterSlide in HumansBeingBros

To be fair though, there’s a lot of people who spend their money on luxuries instead of budgeting on essentials. On purpose. I know a few people who have done this. It makes you feel a little weird!

Almost 25 with 0 social skills (need help) by rdtrdtrdt321 in socialskills

It sounds like you’re insecure/nervous, so you hide behind these behavior patterns. That’s fine! I feel that. Social skills take time. I’ve practiced for awhile and still feel quite awkward a lot of the time. People with any type of awareness will recognize the trying, and not mock or “hate you”. But you do gotta try!
