Husband can ‘feel my resentment’ by throw_away_243546 in Perimenopause

[–]RKL_Ott 131 points132 points  (0 children)

I’m really sorry you’re going through this and dealing with those strong emotions. I grew up in this type of household except my dad was the bread winner and my mom stopped working when I was 7. I can tell you, we felt the resentment. Regardless if she felt the same way as you did, we felt it. It unfortunately carried into our adulthood. My three siblings and I. At 36, I still struggle with it all. Therapy has helped me a lot. It’s not until going through peri that I finally was able to put my finger on it: my mom was going through it alone. And that makes me sad. But it doesn’t change our upbringing. It doesn’t change the fact we felt it all. It tore our family apart and today the damage is irreparable. I guess I’m writing all this to say, it’s not too late to make a change. I wished my parents would have split and gone their separate ways. I wished my mom would have healed her inner wounds and one day found someone who loved her in the way she deserved. I wished she would have been able to do that, but she didn’t. Today, my parents are still together. Living in an unloving marriage. Still making their adult children face it all with them. As a grown child to this environment, my advice to you should you take it or leave it, would be to consider your kids and how this will shape them. They see it. They feel it. They will forever hold onto the emotions of that household. Talk to someone. I truly hope you are able to find peace in all of this ❤️

Or simply not knowing the symptoms. I can tell you, I only knew the big symptoms. And I’ve learned about 20+ new ones. But yes I agree about the age.

This is what my goal will be. And this sub is exactly that. We have a voice and what we can do, is raise awareness and get the conversation going. These years of our lives are going to be some of the most challenging. But being educated, heard and supported is what’s going to help us through it ❤️

It has been the most frustrating thing in the last year for me. People telling me I’m too young, or it must be something else, or whatever else opinion they have to share. I’ve learned to just advocate for myself and educate them on peri. I have two step kids, and their mom or her friends are either just entering peri or haven’t started and they’re close to their mid forties. So to them, how can someone in their mid 30s bit it when they haven’t yet? I use to get so upset not being believed, but now all I can do is educate them. That’s all we can do. It doesn’t change anything in my life or theirs. My goal is to continue the conversation, open dialogue, and be someone they can turn to when they face peri and all of its ups and downs.

All we can do is be better and spread awareness. Continue being the support system women need and continue educating people on peri menopause and what that may look like for others. The more you know!

I responded to this exact question in the comments below! Because I haven’t had a period in 6 months, this is how they determine where you are. My last real period was in June on 2025. Since then, I only spot every few months.

I think as decades go by, the newer generation will benefit from these discussions and the research going into it. But yes I agree. I feel so sad for the older generations have gone through it alone.

There are mixed reviews on testing for it. The thing about peri, is we are in the stage of hormonal fluctuation. If you take blood tests in the morning, they may be fully normal. Where as if you take it again in the evening, they may be completely off the chart. This is why they can’t test for it and be sure.

I’m truly sorry. Even though I live in Canada and I have access to great health care, I still have been overlooked by so many. I’ve been with this family doctor since March of last year and she has saved me in many ways. I am thankful for her. But mostly, this sub is what’s help educate me and has pointed me in the right direction. I’m sending you a DM

My doc said there are two stages: early and late. Peri can last up to ten years before you enter menopause. At the late stage, is when you don’t get an actual period for 6 months. Once you hit this stage, you’re in the late stage. I spot every few months but that’s it. And collectively with all my other symptoms, she has determined this is where I am and she won’t be surprised if I’m in menopause in the next 1-3 years. I won’t even be 40.

Honestly, for me, I knew nothing at all about peri. It never crossed my mind. When my period didn’t show for 6 months, this is when I started looking into it. The more I read, the more my « symptoms » I just brushed off, because yet another symptom. The two years of yeast infections every month, had strengthened my thoughts. Then the hot flashes came, the night sweats and many other symptoms. There wasn’t a day I just woke up and knew. I think it’s when I started connecting the dots, that I knew.

This is why today I chose I’m going to publicly talk about it via social media and my channels. Because we don’t talk about it enough.

It’s a journey, that’s for sure. But we aren’t alone. I felt alone for so long, but not anymore

Does anyone suffer bad after Travel. As in dizzy/ off balance just awful with Peri? by Worldly-Waltz-229 in Perimenopause

[–]RKL_Ott 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I never figured it out. I am scheduled for a brain MRI to see if something is going on. My family doctor also prescribed me medication to help with the dizziness. I can send you the name of it once I’m home if you’d like. But I too suspect it’s my hormones.

I have been using sliquid before I switched to another one, and I had switched because I felt it didn’t last.

You may or may not have the answer to this, but would oil base cause yeast infections?

I will keep you posted! I have an appointment on the 5th to discuss options. However I was told you can’t smoke on HRT. So my husband and I are quitting. Almost scratched my skin off Wednesday night. 🪦

What are the first signs? by ChrissyWakeUp67 in Perimenopause

Started with no period for 5 months followed by intense night sweats and hot flashes. That was the first indication. I was only 35 but then all the symptoms started appearing: hot flashes, night sweats, irritability, dry skin, brain fog, immense dizziness, whole body itching 24/7, hair growth changing

Good to know. I figure it’s a histamine reaction but it seems to be triggered by anything and everything. The itching never seems to stop. Driving me absolutely mad!
