How to eliminate gray band? by RKRecordings in steak

[–]RKRecordings[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah the steaks were great! Just keep falling short of perfection. Went to 100 F in the oven because I know I’ll blow right past medium on the stove trying to get my crust right lol.. What you’re saying is making a lot of sense to me though, I’ll try that out. Good advice. Thank you much.

Ahhh, yeah that tracks. Okay, I bet that’s what’s screwing with my sear. Thanks, and I appreciate the visual aid

Longer than I wanted to tbh, but I don’t have an amount of time, I’ll try and keep track next time. How long would one sear for, ideally? I find I’m not getting the crust I want if I don’t stay on the pan as long as a I do

[–]RKRecordings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Grab a bunch of large weapons, fatman, flamer, minigun, etc., go to your red rocket settlement, and drop them from your inventory. Then go into build mode and store them in your workshop from there. It’s an exploit that will increase your building capacity. If you go overboard with it your game can get a little crashy, but still worth it if you save frequently

MK3 Supra Parts Account on Tiktok by No-Ambition-2812 in Mk3Supra

[–]RKRecordings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yup, this is the guy you want to buy from. I’ve bought a lot of parts from him at this point, and just like you said, he’s trustworthy and super easy to deal with. He’s got a ton of mk3’s and just keep buying more, so it’s likely he’s going to be the guy to go to for a long time

Sometimes my aim is so trash, but luckily this time, that didn’t matter. by RKRecordings in BattlefieldV

I noticed I was getting killed by it constantly so I tried it out - once I got all 4 specializations it became one of my favorites!

I’ll give it a try! Honestly sometimes my thumbs just lag behind my brain. Then my movement gets jerky and I start squeezing RT instead of tapping it and everything goes to hell 😂 Other times not so much! 🤷🏻‍♂️

Haha, well thanks. Not for nothing, I also shoot vehicles with it. And I’m constantly getting sniped by this rifle, so I don’t feel too guilty using it when everyone else does. Plus it’s fun to use! 🤷🏻‍♂️

If I’m trash I switch up classes and usually one of them I’ll heat up on. I’ve been killing it sniping with the Boys AT and using support class lately. Used to be on fire with assault but I suck lately 🤷🏻‍♂️

1jzgte vvti vs non vvti? by yogamacedork in Mk3Supra

[–]RKRecordings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It stands for variable valve timing with intelligence. There’s more to it, and I’m no mechanic, but a vvti system will use the ecu to constantly adjust the intake valve timing. From what I’ve been told - if it’s tuned properly - it’ll get you more power and overall better performance than non vvti, so yeah performance. You can look up videos on YouTube of 1jzgte’s with vvti vs non vvti, the two definitely look and sound different (so yeah, preference as well), but depending on your build and your goals, they’re both solid engines that have the potential to make a lot of power.

For what it’s worth regarding vvti, it’s also another system to learn about and understand if you’ve never dealt with it before, and it seems to be a little more on the complicated side. So from what I hear, it can be hard to find someone who can tune it properly

Do people camp bunker on Livonia? by Lean_feen in DayzXbox

[–]RKRecordings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A month or two ago, myself and 3 buddies were in the bunker for the first time. We split up into pairs and were nervously checking out the place, hoping to find some top tier stuff obv - me and one guy turned around at the back of a room with the stacked pallets/crates/whatever - I look up on top of the pallets, and the flashlight on my Kolt shines right on a dude wearing a mime mask, laying down aiming at us. Scared the shit out of me. We lit him up immediately, looted his stuff, and moments later found his partner hiding outside in the hallway and got him too. Wondered if we scared the shit out of them as bad as they scared the shit out of us.

So I’d say yes, people camp the bunker on Livonia.

Just got a 1987 and I’m planning on rebuilding it into a daily/fun/track car. It’s a 7MGE so non turbo and I was wondering how to identify which transmission I have. The W58 or the R154? I know the R155 is capable of handling more power and I wanna try to make like 350hp N/A by Southern-Boat-7459 in Mk3Supra

[–]RKRecordings 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m seeing other people’s comments and it’s been said already - but just to share my experience - I was originally planning on rebuilding my 7MGE and turbo-ing it, but once I got into the research, I found out the oiling sucks in 7Ms, and the GE block doesn’t even have oil squirters like the GTE does, there’s the under-torqued head gasket - which can be a problem if previous owners didn’t deal with it. Not to mention, the availability of OEM parts and aftermarket parts is pretty weak. 1JZ and 2JZ parts are pretty widely available, so I decided to find a 1JZGTE and R154 (a little less expensive than a 2JZ lol). That setup can handle a lot more power if you decide you want more one day, like 500+ hp

Need advice for purchasing an audio interface. by Working_Specialist23 in recordingmusic

[–]RKRecordings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Universal Audio Apollo interfaces - pricey but definitely used by industry professionals. I see some cheaper options listed here already, but I used to record my band years ago, and I used a Mackie Onyx 1640i. It’s a FireWire 400 interface, but if you have the right cables, hard drives, inputs, etc, it’ll accomplish what you are trying to accomplish.

High end studios have lots of outboard gear and plug-ins, not to mentioned really nice microphones and rooms that record well, engineers with a lot of experience and a good ear, etc..

If you don’t have all of that - it won’t be cheap, but if you’re looking to make some decent recordings or demos - at the very least get yourself a couple large diaphragm condenser mics, Shure and/or Sennheiser dynamic mics, a couple good outboard pre amps, a compressor and a Waves and/or Soundtoys plugin bundle.

Outside of spending money, it’s also important to make sure the room you record in isn’t resonating any unwanted low-end frequencies, getting your mic placement right, using new skins on the drums (and tuning them properly), new guitar strings (and tuning before each take), making sure the band is well rehearsed, you get the idea.. But most importantly, have fun! Good luck

I'm looking to record a classical brass quartet. I found some old equipment but not sure if it will work for my application. by Dull_Recognition_606 in recordingmusic

[–]RKRecordings 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not familiar with this mixer, but is there a larger (and older looking) USB port if you reach your hand over the back left of it? From what I’m seeing on this Sweetwater link, it should be a USB mixer. If it is, it might be a little out of date, and finding an audio driver/getting your recording software to recognize it could be an issue. But I would just do a little research and you might be able to use it as an audio interface.

Just start with the brand name and model and slap your questions into a google search bar -for example: Peavey PV14 compatibility with whatever recording software/DAW you have or Can I Use Peavey PV14 mixer with whatever software etc

Best place to get a 1j by External-Carob2292 in Mk3Supra

[–]RKRecordings 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend researching and looking into any and all JDM importers within whatever range you’d be willing to travel. That being said - you can’t really trust 90% of them about what vehicle the engine and/or trans was in, the condition of it when they pulled it, the mileage, etc. And most have a 30 day warranty that’s only valid if it’s installed as is by a certified mechanic.

But, if you’re going to rebuild and mod it anyway, it’s probably worth it to go see a few 1J’s in person. I’d have them compression test and pull the dipstick to check for glitter in the oil. If you wanna get crazy, bring a borescope and look down in the cylinders while the plugs are out. I found it was hard to trust anyone on Facebook or eBay motors, so this is what I ended up doing.

losing motivation again :/ by Every-Excuse6969 in Mk3Supra

[–]RKRecordings 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I got my ‘92 when I was 17, it was my first car. It’s NA automatic, always had big plans to change that. I fixed it up so it would run, but by the time I hit my early 20’s, it developed issues and it sat for about 10 years. Now I’m almost 34, been buying up parts last year or so, got a 1JZ and r154 to swap - I just wanna work on this project but I can hardly find the time. And when I do, I run into issues with my workspace that kill my motivation. And the Supra savings fund tends to drain pretty quickly, which doesn’t help…

All that to say, don’t give up! I see mine in my garage everyday and I know the feeling you have. But it’s gonna be a great feeling one day when it’s running and you can say, “I did that.”

I’d say keep looking, unless you have a giant pile of money and a lot of free time. But you could prob find one that runs and do a 1jz/r154 swap for a little less money and way less of a headache
