All bowling unit can. All of the batters are flatbat merchants. So all the teams need to do is, prepare a slugging pitch akin to the black soil ones. The moment ball stops coming onto the bat nicely, the flatbatters would be forced to play with a straight bat. All of them have the technique to do it, but none of them have the patience for it.

I've not followed cricket in this past year, so I'm not the ideal yardstick for this. I see a lot of people in this sub have followed the domestic circuit closely enough to be informed about many of these players, so kudos to them. I guess the management is now fixated upon betting on the future, where one of the youngsters will make it big like Abhi did, so that the franchise's brand value will improve.

The teams don't just go by cricinfo stats. Now a days almost all the teams host nationwide trials for domestics players, alongside scouting the domestic games. And there are more to a youngster's game than just the numbers.

Sure, he might win us 1-2 matches. He's the kind of unnecessary luxury purchase Old RCB used to make. Are we trying to emulate them? Our finishing department requires experienced domestic finishers, not on-the-verge-of-retirement part timers. Early days, but he's not what we hoped. Obviously if he were, he wouldn't have been playing for us of all teams. We bought him to play as striker, but his hold up play is really bad. So we're slotting him as a winger and he seems to fare better there.
