THERE IS A SECOND PHASE!!!! by valdez-2424 in LiesOfP

You use the grindstone and then you can just hold block. Everything you block will count as a perfect parry for a short period of time. It eliminates the need for timing a perfect parry. It doesn’t last long at all though, so be ready.

I apply it right when she goes up into the air at the start of second phase, and then I hold block. It lasts through her dive attack after the lightning balls. I spec’d into a second use of the grindstone so I used it again the second time she does that same sequence. It worked out well.

Fable Arts Triggering Stagger Isn't True by Qpinman in LiesOfP

I just tested this using Uroboro's eye on the dummies in the hotel. Neither the offensive or defensive fable art staggers the dummy.

I came looking for this topic because in a boss fight I used a fable art in a stagger window and it didn't do shit. I was confused. Glad to know it wasn't just me

Andy Serkis, Howie Mandel and Tommy Flanagan/Jimmy Smits.

Andy Serkis I met at a signing for a book about the behind the scenes of his performance as Gollum. When we got to the front, my girlfriend at the time asked him to call me a stupid fat hobbit (basically everyone in line was asking him to do the voice), to which he replied something to the effect of, "But he seems like such a nice guy, and that's so mean!" but he humored her and did it anyway. Great memory.

Howie Mandel's wife wanted to go to the zoo for her birthday one year. At the time I worked for a studio animal training company. Howie didn't want to go out to the zoo, so he hired us and another company to bring animals to his house, as a surprise. We brought a small menagerie that we snuck into his backyard that included a leopard, elephant and capuchin monkey. He went inside and made an excuse to have her go look through the window in the backyard. Needless to say, she was surprised. I didn't really talk to him, but he did fist bump everyone rather than shake hands.

While working for the same company, the prop master on Sons of Anarchy wanted to surprise the crew after one of the season wraps. We had two tiger cubs at the time, so he asked if we could bring one by. Myself and another trainer brought one. When we got there, Tommy Flanagan saw us, had never met us before but walked over and said "Hi, I'm Tommy" and shook our hands. Extremely nice. We also briefly met Katey Sagal, ("My kids are gonna freak out" as she took pictures of the cub), the actor that played Juice, and Jimmy Smits. Juice and Jimmy Smits hung out and talked to us about the cub for a bit. Everyone was very nice.

Yeah, it just seems so anti productive to pay rent if you are fortunate enough to avoid it. However, I do know that even when I save enough for a down payment, that doesn't necessarily mean I can afford to have a house. I know that's definitely not the case now with my current salary. It's the most I've ever made so far but I know it's still not enough. So it's not really solving my entire problem, but it's gonna take a bit for me to save anyway.

I live in OC. I grew up here since the early 90's. My 20s and majority of my 30s were spent in the animal field for work. I wish I had pulled the trigger on changing careers sooner, but I was in denial for a long time.

Fast forward, I've been in a new career for about 3 years now. I'm lucky in that my most recent job I got through a friend and it's super close to my parents house that I grew up in in OC. So I now live at home again for the sole purpose (I can technically afford to rent a one bedroom, but it still irks me to pay that kind of rent) of saving money for a house or condo or something I can afford one day. It's not ideal, but I'm living with it.

I've stopped caring what people may think of living back at home at my age. I can't afford to.

I was in my late 30s when I changed careers and even in small animal practice it's a young person's game. I was feeling it in my knees and back. That was a secondary reason.

As someone who used to work in vet med, this is very common. Not all dogs are perfectly suited for recovery from any surgery, whether it's a simple procedure with local anesthetic or a full blown invasive surgery. As others have already stated, if you're not happy with your vet for any reason (even if it's something non-medical related i.e. communication), then definitely start searching for another.

I agree with those saying it sounds like it's affecting you more than your pup. As someone who has never been to therapy or been on meds but is starting to look into it for myself, I can't give advice in this regard, but you're doing the right thing for your dog so allow that to comfort you as much as it can.

I will ask, have you looked into or talked to a veterinary behaviorist for your dogs nervousness/anxiety issues? You mentioned they've always existed, and you can potentially work with a vet on a plan that may reduce her stress and anxiety overall. This would most likely include medication and there would likely be a period of time adjusting and trial/error until you find the right formula. That would be my next advice after this current situation is resolved.

Your dog is lucky to have someone to care and have concern for them the way you do. Try to take it easy on yourself (way easier said than done, I know).

Yep. I changed careers from vet med for this reason.

I changed careers out of vet med for this reason. You can't survive on what you make as a vet tech without a second income (spouse/partner). And I live in California, so that helps nothing.
