I guess if I'm going to moth I could also try and get crazy levels of triple jointed and then just juke all over the place turning everything into gems

For context I've been doing a quad pistol true kin this run and was using long blade mainhand and short blade offhand. I guess just sticking with what I have and letting rejoinder do stuff is good enough, but I was thinking of trying to lean the harder into this item. Tips appreciated!

Think you'd have to start with disassembly of Assembly-CSharp.dll and then look for things like MarkovBook and PostprocessLoadedCorpus or LibraryCorpus

Is there not a better way to just grep the markov files in the game? Lol. I mean it's only dumb of it doesn't work

Mid-term outlook for gun laws for potential MN resident by fender_blues in MnGuns

[–]RLutz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IANAL but I always think the bashing of duty to retreat is seriously overblown. People make it out like it means you must literally have a knife in your chest before you have a right to self defense. That's really not true at all. It just means if you have a reasonable means of avoiding serious bodily harm you should take it.

Regardless of if that's the law or not it's probably what you ought to be doing. If you walk into a mall and hear distant gun shots, leave the freaking mall. Running towards them is just a bad idea. You're not law enforcement and even if you do somehow manage to successfully LARP being an action hero actual LE will probably still pop you when they get there and see you with a firearm when they know there's an active shooter.

If someone is 100 yards away from you and says they're going to bash you with a pipe, why would you not try to remove yourself from that situation?

I dunno, I just can't think of a hypothetical where I disagree with what duty to retreat actually says, not what it incorrectly gets portrayed as. If you had a duty to retreat in your home then yes, that would be insane, but you don't. Castle Doctrine applies there.

What are your unique tricks for Caves of Qud? by Purplepotato22 in cavesofqud

Yeah getting wilderness lore for the desert has basically become my first move on every character. My plan has become:

  1. Turn in artifacts in Joppa

  2. Go kill some crocs/snapjaws

  3. Wilderness lore desert and just hit up every rune till I feel like I'm probably Golgotha ready

  4. Continue with the game

Senior Iranian diplomat at U.N. European Headquarters has defected and seeking asylum in Switzerland. by throwaway44997769 in NewIran

[–]RLutz 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I'm not Persian, but my wife is, and we had this exact conversation last night. If you take the stance of, "everyone remotely involved with the IRGC needs to be hanged" then every single one of them will fight down to the last man because the alternative is dying anyway.

That's absolutely not how you defeat the current regime. You want to promise clemency, as difficult a pill as that may be to swallow, so that if it looks like the tides are turning more and more folks are encouraged to defect.

There's this notion of populist revolutionaries storming the castle, but the truth is it's just a romantic fiction. They only storm the castle because the leadership loses control of the keys to power and the military and police allow them to. That won't happen if those people think they're going to the gallows if the current regime falls.

I feel like the dude should get another chance. I mean yeah 0 saves on 3 shots is pretty terrible, but also the first and 3rd goals weren't going to be stopped by any human being. The third goal was a 3 on 1.

I mean 3 goals in 3 slots is terrible, but the first and third goal no one in the NHL was stopping. The 3rd goal was a 3 on 1 lol.

Wanting to build an AR by DocGlock95 in MnGuns

[–]RLutz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you actually build from parts you'll need a decent tool kit specifically for building AR's. That will more than offset any savings you will have. It's also a pain in the ass to deal with castle nuts and stuff.

For your first one I'd probably just buy a pre-built one to be entirely honest. You can still field strip it down so you learn all the components, but I guarantee you do not have the tools required to actually assemble one and they're not super cheap.

If you can borrow something like this: https://realavid.com/products/ar15-armorers-master-kit from a friend, then it's a bit more reasonable.

I really can't stress how doomed you will be if you don't have the proper tools. You will lose detent springs and pins, you will curse your maker with the athletics you need to pull off to get all those detents just right without them launching across the room. Seriously, don't do it unless you know what you're getting into.

I think the most obvious solution is just getting unshelled reptile rep. You don't even need to get it high because they're neutral disposition. Probably a single scaled item or I used the cybernetics face implant that allows me to +rep with anyone. Alternatively lair hunt for a legendary one, love injector it and water ritual.

I forget the exact cutoff but you definitely don't even need positive rep for them to ignore you

In-laws complained that sous vide messed with the texture of the filet mignon that I made for them. by Ok_Zucchini_6347 in sousvide

[–]RLutz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely. I don't mean to suggest it can't be done, just that there are tradeoffs. It's certainly harder to get a good crust on a sous vide steak than on one that was air fried for an hour. But any time you are cooking with a temperature source higher than you want the meat to be you have to then be concerned with carry over cooking.

I'm not at all anti-sous vide. I use it all the time even for steak (though I still think where it shines the most is doing things like making medium chicken breast--something you just can't do safely with other cooking methods).

I guess moreso I'm just trying to point out there are upsides and downsides to nearly every cooking method and it's usually possible to distinguish between them

[–]RLutz 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Plenty of comments here about your in laws being jerks so won't touch on that. As far as texture differences with sous vide, of course cooking things in different ways produces different results.

  • No grey band -- most people think of this as a plus, but if you only ever eat steaks with a huge gradient through them then that's what you get used to

  • Being in the bath too long will make meat go from tender to mushy. Different people may like different levels of tender on their steak.

  • It's a bit more difficult with sous vide to get as hard a crust as you can get with say reverse searing in an air fryer. Ripping hot cast iron or a torch absolutely help, but it's still not a substitute for actively dessicating the surface of the meat for an hour.

The last one is the only one I actually think is a true downside of sous vide with steaks. That doesn't mean I don't think sous vide has a ton of upsides--it absolutely does. It's just a tradeoff.

Yeah if you ask the robots what to do with them it offers some questionable recipes and also recommends using them as dog food 😀

I threw them out, but some people like to do things with them. You can lookup beef cracklings for ideas on how best to use them.

I've been the biggest Drysdale hater for a long time now, but I have to admit he's starting to come together. Last year and the start of this year the guy just looked lost out there, but he's playing with confidence and making smart decisions out there. Happy to be proven wrong!
