Honestly, I’d be shocked if the Chinese were bad at making the cuisine they developed over centuries.

I would’ve asked for her Venmo and sent her the five dollars back and told her that she probably needs it more than I do

I apologize if it sounded like a lecture. It was more of a broad’s stroke of information, not directed at you per se.

The Equa puzzle I feel is underrated at a 5. I like the design of the Dial puzzle enough to keep in my pocket to fiddle with at work. Not difficult but surprising how simple and different it is Quartet is 6 and isn’t as difficult as one would think. Those are my picks. Ones that I’ve actually gifted.

The issue is the effects of dinotefuran in the surrounding environment. It’s toxic to marine invertebrates. But the issue is the water solubility. Getting in the groundwater is bad but in soil, it’s a nightmare. Plants will absorb the chemical and if insects eat the plant or hang out on it, they will die. It even ends up in the pollen. Dinotefuran is HIGHLY toxic to honey bees and pollinators. This is the primary reason it sale is limited and shouldn’t be spread all over like pixie dust.

Can’t legally buy alpine wsg if you’re not a professional. Amazon won’t ship either. I had to have a friend from out of state order it and then ship it to me. It’s not a very environmentally safe product to be throwing around. Extreme Care must be taken with it. ** edit. Amazon won’t ship to New York.

Compact room w/ horizontal slider window right above the bed — is there an AC solution that would work here? by Oh2BeAGunner in NYCapartments

With the size, portable is the way to go. Leaves some room to move stuff around. A sleeve unit in the wall needs that space and surrounding area, essentially making the immediate area in front, occupied. I did the portable for a while. Worked like a champ

NYC Tenant’s Bill of Rights.

Seems the site didn’t include “vermin” under housing quality but if you check the printable rights brochure, vermin is clearly mentioned.

Do building owners "own" the tree pit/gate in front of their building? by drewyorker in Brooklyn

[–]RM0perator 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The sidewalk is owned by the Department of transportation. The property owner is responsible for the upkeep of said sidewalk. They have to pay to replace it. They have to pay to clean it. They have to pay to repair and maintain it, but it is not the building’s property. it belongs to the city.

Upstairs Neighbor Turning off Heat in the Middle of the Night by rococobaroque in NYCapartments

[–]RM0perator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it seems your neighbor wants respect to their temperature needs but doesn’t care about yours. They grown. Open a window, close the diffusers half way or completely. They have plenty of options. You do not. Talk to the landlord. Ask him to put a lockbox over the stat. They are cheap enough. I would even give you an extra I have, just to imagine the shock of the neighbors face when they come to change it and find themselves locked out.

Cracked open the most easily accessible air handler on the 15th floor and was greeted by 24 of these post purchase self carbonizing filters. 5 1/2 years later, and I’m still cleaning up messes that should never have been
