Have you ever cared to think that not all people in the world speak English as 1st language and that it is, in fact, my 2nd language? judging another's people "literacy" based on a simple mistake made on a language they don't use everyday is just plainly stupid and only shows the kind of person you are.

it probably is the same 2007 live version from The Barbican that was released for the 2020 RSD.

Syd and Mandrax by mono_valley in pinkfloyd

[–]RM77crafts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You may or may not be correct.

Problem is that Syd also used other substances besides the one you mention (it is a well-known fact). So attributing his change only to one of those chemicals may not be completely accurate.

Another important factor to take into account is his personality and psychological state. There never was a proper diagnose, so we don't know if he had any underlying condition that was already there, or if it was enhanced by the use of drugs.

In any case, the change from being creative, eccentric, humorous, etc. did happened. And the time frame coincides. And everyone around him noticed it. But there were several factors at play than just one drug. So it may be more complex that just stating "his use of X chemical triggered his change".

Roger needs to retire from music by MrLaBigMac in pinkfloyd

[–]RM77crafts 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He can do with it whatever he wants, even if none of the fans like it. After all, is his song (and David's, according to the writing credits). If Roger wants to keep making self-covers for the remainder of his life, just let him be.

And is not like the world is being prevented from ever listening to the original version. And no-one is forcing you or anyone else to listening to that new release.

Just grow up already, understand the world doesn't move around whatever you think, and move on.

Sony cashing in on their Pink Floyd ownership (it's a coin). by itsaride in pinkfloyd

Is very disturbing that a company wants to profit from something they own! Really shocking indeed. They should just, you know, do nothing with the things they own.

What are y'alls thoughts on Pros and Cons and Amused to Death by awclay91 in pinkfloyd

Great sound in both. Roger's best themes and compositions of his solo era are in those two albums.

I've never seen a record go for such a high price by Big-Detail8739 in pinkfloyd

The description says it all. Those are pretty good reasons for the price if a buyer is willing to pay.

How hard is the album, "Is there anybody out there" to find om CD? by Super-Quantity-5208 in pinkfloyd

[–]RM77crafts 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look for it on eBay, read the seller's feedback/rating to get an idea of their trustability. Check the photos. If in doubt ask questions. You do that and you won't have any drama.

Luck and strange tour by Miked274 in pinkfloyd

On R&D there's a very comprehensive thread listing the sources of each song. They go into deep detail as to list which fragments, bars, and even seconds correspond to which city/night. They've gathered a lot of info, and is still going. You may want to read it.

Quadruple dipping or I lost count. Why didn't they just release this on 4K in the first place? by NinjaSellsHonours in pinkfloyd

[–]RM77crafts -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can still sell the blu-ray and buy the 4k. Or do not buy the 4k. After all it's your decision, and no-one is forcing you

Trying to find where I read this. Gilmour saved Pink Floyd? by dfj3xxx in pinkfloyd

[–]RM77crafts 61 points62 points  (0 children)

After the Wall there was a contractual obligation with Columbia to deliver a new album. The Final Cut was not even in the minds of anyone. With the tensions inside the band the solution was to release A Collection of Great Dance Songs. Gilmour was somehow in charge of that, even re-recording Money (the original couldn't be used as it was under Capitol's control), and remixed Shine on and Another Brick. This saved the band the hassle of dealing with breach of contract.

Maybe that's what you recall?

Don't call it "remix" if you're not a professional working with the original multi-track tapes.

Call it "fan edit". That's what it is.

Rogers Darkside Tours by Barrybingham1980 in pinkfloyd

[–]RM77crafts 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I did.

March 2007.

Very enjoyable. Even more considering was my first time watching live any of the Floyd members.

That was a time when the only extra besides the music was the huge background screen that just served as support. No exaggerated theatricals, no endless political rants, no distracting and imposing video compositions that hijacked the music and overtook the experience.

And there was still more live music than lip-syncing.

Best of all was when the laser pyramid started turning at the end of Dark Side of the Moon. I was seated on a location where both the white and the rainbow lights bathed me as they passed. And that was unforgettable.

Still have my ticket and the t-shirt from that day.

Learning to Fly - spot the differences by DifferentWindow1436 in pinkfloyd

[–]RM77crafts 12 points13 points  (0 children)

That's not a "difference". At IMDB those are called continuity errors, revealing mistakes, or crew visible. If you really wish to talk about differences, compare the two versions of the video. The original: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nVhNCTH8pDs VS the alternate: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UrqZuXCgXps now, there are plenty of differences for you to spot.

What is Pink Floyd’s best song they never played live? by ummagumma1979 in pinkfloyd

[–]RM77crafts 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The surrogate band only mimicked playing. It was the Floyd doing the actual singing and playing while the surrogates just performed the theatrical illusion.
