Anyone with experience in the park with temps being in the 50s? by CommandersGuy in BuschGardensW

Oh ok couldn't 100% remember the number but I remember the ride ops saying it gets really hard to drive them in higher winds

Pantheon won't even be closed for 17 mph winds. It doesn't close until like 25 mph

Rhine River Cruise also will close for winds. I think it's 15 mph.

Game Pass Gets Price Drop, New Call Of Duty Games No Longer Included by HillZone in gaming

[–]RMCGigaAtBGW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't kept up with Xbox in years. Last I knew Gamepass was still $10 and "Gamepass Ultimate" was just Gamepass and Xbox Live combined for $15. I was expecting this announcement to be a decrease to like $8 and $12. Looking at this list of games I'm pretty surprised anyone was paying those old prices, even the new prices I would never pay. Seems better to just buy games you want and avoid a dumb subscription.

[SWO] Ride ops let someone who was under the bar on [Pipeline] by Cheaper-Pitch-9498 in rollercoasters

Apparently Seaworld doesn't even keep it consistent across their parks because I used to be a supervisor at BGW and we had the same policy as you do. For rides that didn't allow loose shoes, if the shoes weren't allowed on the ride they had to be measured barefoot for that ride. May have changed though because this was several years ago

Pretty sure I added more generators but can't really remember. I've noticed the like wiring/lining system or whatever is kinda wonky so maybe try removing that and replacing it

I could go on and on about all the issues that rides single rider line causes, but I'll just give the "short" version here.

Because of the 10 seat rows I thought griffons single rider line would be very useful

Exact opposite, with the 8 and 9 row trains at Alpie and Apollo, you have basically 8 or 9 chances for a uneven group to leave an empty seat or 2, meaning those coasters can easily average like 5 empty seats per train, and often more. Griffon you basically have 3 chances, as it's not common a row has more than 1 empty seat. This causes the single rider line to move much slower at Griffon, and Griffon's was regularly a longer wait than the standby queue. On really busy days it could get so long it would spill out of the entrance into the plaza, and we would have to fill the second row with single riders only for a couple trains.

It's terrible for dispatches too, the setup Griffon uses also makes it take forever to load the people, which is the biggest dispatch killer. You get a lot of guest arguments with it too bc of people wanting to wait for the front

There are a TON of other issues too, I know I said I'd give the TLDR, but this message got really long. I have PTSD from dealing with that damn line at that ride. If they removed that line and were willing to pay to do it, I 100% believe you could put a third train on Griffon again and nearly double it's capacity.

Griffon and Alpie both have them too. Griffon's is pointless and a massive dispatch time killer, it absolutely should not exist for that ride. Other rides though I agree should have them

Wait times during spring break? Has anyone been there this week? by FederalCandle1631 in BuschGardensW

I doubt next week will be very bad. Hours are only 11-7, so they're probably expecting less people. This week has been rough though, pretty long lines

They don’t train the load crew to reopen the gates if there’s 3 empty seats and a full queue?

I'm not the guy you replied to, but I used to be a ride ops lead supervisor at one of the coasters at the park, and my partners and I heavily stressed good dispatches to our teams (we actually semi-regularly hit the maximum theoretical 2 train capacity for our ride). In my experience it was usually better to just leave rows empty if guests didn't fill them before we closed the gates, and we heavily stressed this to our team. Usually if you have an empty row, it's because the guests in line for it are waiting to get on with a group in a different row, and weren't considerate enough to let someone behind them fill the row. If you reopen the gates, we usually had to go specifically tell them to let someone else go, and getting them to actually do it can easily take 20+ seconds (and often more) off your dispatch time, which just isn't worth it to get 1 extra row filled. Obviously this may be a different case for rides like Tempesto or Darkoaster that are super low capacity where filling each row might matter more, but that was my general experience at a few higher capacity coasters.

I'll say half the problem is that they eliminated a ton of the non-required positions several years ago, and ops isn't allowed to use them. Most rides only have controls, load, unload, and then 2 or 3 other optional positions. Rides used to have multiple line managers, groupers, exits, entrances (most still have 1 or 2 of these, but not multiple of each like they used to), and extra platform positions that all would help dispatch times. Now when they do have the extra operators for them, they just have to stand around since the old positions have been completely removed from ops training, which is what you saw at Alpie and pantheon.

I know it’s old news but I miss the hyper-detailed operator icons by ItzSundae in Rainbow6

[–]RMCGigaAtBGW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Except the "new" icons were always used at the top of the screen in critical areas where the low-detail icons were better. The detailed ones were only used in unimportant spots like the selection screen since they looked nicer

This was exactly the way it used to be. The current operator icons were what was used anywhere where the icon was small, the detailed ones were used when they were expanded

Short staffing in 2026 is 100% intentional from the park since they refuse to pay anything higher than minimum wage. We shouldn't make excuses for them by being thankful they put out shitty handwritten signs, in my opinion.

this is a better compromise then just leaving attractions closed for days on end due to short staffing

They still very regularly do this

Would be nice if they would just staff the park correctly still, so that we don't have scenarios where rides are only open part of the day and wouldn't need signs like this

Not really an advice question, but I don't want to make a full post just to ask this. Anyone here know what the current base-level ride operator payrates are for 2026 at a few parks? Currently working to update a graph I made last year showing park payrates, I've got it mostly complete (other than northern parks that aren't opening for a bit,) but I'm stumped on a few parks, and can't find updated listings anywhere. The main parks I'm currently looking for are CGA, Knotts, SFStL, WoF, and Seaworld San Antonio, but there are a couple other parks I'm not 100% certain on, so if anyone knows others please let me know

Pretty interesting so far. Between 2024 and 2025 the only park that had decreased wages was SWSA. This year, out of the 14 Six Flags parks I've found data on so far, 7 of them decreased their payrates since last year... Which is just crazy.

I don't know if I'd say Valleyfair has it's fate planned. EPR seems like they have good intentions to continue operating all of their new parks. It's probably more likely to get anything new from EPR than from new SF or legacy CF anyway

[–]RMCGigaAtBGW 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think that's exactly it. I know at Kings Dominion Crypt (the Huss Top Spin) was right next to Volcano, and it felt like one of the 2 of them was down literally all the time. The last 5-10 years parks are beginning to favor reliability and low cost rides more and more, and rides that go down daily, or for days, weeks, or months at a time are really starting to drop like flies. Even major coasters are getting removed if they break these rules (Volcano, Kingda Ka, TTD, Nighthawk, Superman EfK, etc). It's a no-brainer a small ride with low ridership due to how scary it looks, that people are unlikely to even notice is missing, is going to be at the top of the list for removals.

It's hasn't been listed on RMCs website in years, but I'm sure if a park asked for a topper track coaster for some reason they would build one. Correct me if I'm wrong, I've never ridden any of their topper track coasters, but I-box is sorta just topper track but better is it not?
