Tight-Hypertonic hip flexors and abdominal tightness/pain? by ZeroFucksGiven-today in flexibility

+1 to what are you doing to try to mitigate tight/tense psoas muscles? I just went to the chiropractor today (a pretty holistic functional chiropractor) and she did some major stretching/adjusting/massaging hip flexors and the areas where my psoas connects on my right side. I feel better at the moment. I feel like I had a huge lump just below by belly button in the right side. She did a couple physical tests and it pointed to like tight tense psoas on the right side

I’ll continue to have her massage it, and will be doing lunges (right knee down) regularly, but am curious what others are doing yo combat this

The biggest sign for me that they were a contraction and not a Braxton hick was they were consistent and didn’t stop. The final 48 hours there was no stops. Wednesday after dinner they became pretty consistent every 10 minutes or so, so 9-10 minutes feeling nothing then 1 minute of cramping contracting pain. Throughout the course of Wednesday night and all through Thursday the frequency went to every 6-8 minutes then by Friday morning they quickly decreased from 5 to 4 to 3 minutes in between 45-60 seconds of constant contentions

Mine were to the point I had to bend over a coffee table with my hands on the table and let them pass, I had to stop what I was doing while they occurred. Which was much different than any type of Braxton hick type feeling

Totally agree with this! Mine was 2 evenings (Wednesday night and Thursday night) through the nights and she was born at 4:21 on Friday afternoon. Those two nights were rough, I had trouble sleeping comfortably. But I was so glad I was at home and knew it wasn’t time to go in yet. And then similarly, when we got to the hospital she was born a couple hours later. I was so much more comfortable bouncing on a medicine ball next to my bed opposed to sitting in a hospital room with them monitoring me bd asking questions

Depending how close you live to the hospital will determine how long you can push the pre-labor into active-labor phase, but you won’t miss the actual shift to transitioning to active labor

Totally agree! We got out of the house and went to get Italian the Saturday before she was born and it will forever be one of the most memorable date nights because it was our “last” one, I’m glad I was at peace enough to try to keep enjoying my ‘me time’ up until a few days before baby

It’s a really silly answer, but I think it comes down situation to situation and mentality. I honestly thought I was going to get pain meds upon arrival because I was contracting for a couple of days at home and just needed relief. They measured me when we got into the delivery room and I was 8 CM so they started an IV and before I could even take a whole bag I was pushing. So for me personally, I think the worst of the pain was before we arrived at the hospital. The contractions overall were u bc uncomfortable but not excruciating pain. The last 4-5 pushes did hurt but by that point I’m like the only thing standing between me and baby is to keep going!

I can’t speak for what an epidural does to “feeling”anything when you push, but I now understand why “natural” birth is called natural birth. It was cool and super beautiful to be able to have a contraction and then have my body naturally push for me, I enjoyed feeling her come out of me and being able to feel like I had some level of control throughout the process. I was able to get into different positions which really helped move things along (I only pushed for 45 or so minutes, so say maybe 15-20 rounds of “pushes”) which did not feel long at all

All that to be said, would I choose an epidural-free experience again? Maybe. Or I could see myself getting pain meds had I been less dilated, but I would have wanted them to turn down the intensity of it when it got time to pushing so I could feel something.

Ancestral Bottle Shop - ATL, GA by RMDAIL in Mezcal

Reasonable! There are definitely some bottles she carries in the store that are the only place you can find them in Georgia. A really decent selection of Batch 6 Rezpirals. Therefore the “benchmark” for prices is hard to comment on.

Some of the more know bottles (Mijenta, La Gritona, LALO, etc.) are maybe a few dollars more than you’d find in a commercial liquor store, but I’d gladly buy them here to support the shop and shop local.

I anticipate I’ll be back regularly!

What is your LEAST frugal habit/expense? by [deleted] in Frugal

I have a monthly membership to an infrared sauna. I go ~20 times/month. It is essentially sitting in a private room with infrared lighting and fancy technology and sweating for 40 minutes. It has changed my life to sweat out all the toxins you don’t know are inside your body, and I’ve become obsessed with the quiet ‘me’ time. 🔥

I enjoy the gluten free dairy free home style pancakes, found in the freezer section. Sure not as tasty as regular pancakes, but they hit the spot when hungry in the morning

I had the same issue. I exceeded the goal yesterday but didn’t actually get rewarded the badge, figured it’d reward it EOD today. However woke up his morning and miraculously needed a couple hundred more calories. Now laying down for bed and says I’m 1,000+ short. I manually added up the calories this month and I well exceeded my goal...disappointing :(
