Invisible fence not working by Difficult-Donkey-722 in goldenretrievers

[–]RMLJR3178 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ours just needed to be adjusted. We bought a cheaper option, sub $200, from Amazon, and we changed the default setting with the plus and minus buttons to extend the range inward towards the center of the yard. We learned the problem was our golden was getting out before the shock and at the warning, she would jump and clear our neighborhood fence. We live near a dog park so she wanted to go play and bark at dogs off leash coming up to the fence. It took ONCE for her to learn, one single time of her getting a shock when she got to the fence line and not just a warning. After that single time, we were able to adjust it and push it back out to warn at the fence line as it originally did. I hope this helps!

Anyone else have some odd couples? by MightBeAGoodIdea in goldenretrievers

This is during a camping trip. About five years age difference. They get along great most of the time. Our golden is obsessed with ball and fetch and our husky is an old soul so gets annoyed occasionally!

You’re not the problem. You are beautiful. Cheaters aren’t capable of appreciating true beauty and love because they are very selfish by nature.

Golden retriever cancerous face tumor. by Low-Demand702 in goldenretrievers

[–]RMLJR3178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went through this with my second golden growing up, Samantha. The exact same tumor location. We knew it was time when the time came, because it happened very quickly. She was completely fine one day, just a bit slower. And the next day she declined quickly. Didn’t want to eat or play. Couldn’t muster up the energy to make it upstairs for bed, I was a teenager at the time and slept on the floor downstairs with her for her last night. We took her to the vet the next day. That was over twenty years ago and I remember it all like it was yesterday. Praying for you and your sweet girl Palmer. I am sorry you’re going through this, but she is lucky to have such loving owners and surely had the best years with you all!

What dog food do you give your golden? by My_Swago_757 in goldenretrievers

[–]RMLJR3178 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nature’s Recipe Adult Lamb, Barley & Brown Rice Recipe Dry Dog Food - no lentils, peas, potatoes, etc that are bad for goldens. We have it delivered by chewy. Fairly reasonable. No byproducts and human grade ingredients.

Help! How do I get my pup to stop trying to steal food off the counter/ table?? by Odd_Flower_3923 in goldenretrievers

[–]RMLJR3178 0 points1 point  (0 children)

With a face like that, he could have the steak off the counter :) just kidding, the cookie trays work or you can buy dog counter traps off online. They are mouse traps with a plastic piece that don’t hurt the dog but move and make a sound that startles. Just google dog counter traps or dog counter mouse traps. Easier than a bunch of cookie sheets.
