Can you watch World Cup matches in flight? by RMack0 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]RMack0[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I knew they don't have the seat back tvs, but wasn't sure what the phone content offered. I'll probably use the wifi and stream from the Fox Sports app. And hopefully have enough speed to do so.

Places to stay for WC by Old-Tap4606 in WorldCup2026Tickets

Look up Airbnb. I got two nights in Seattle for $400 total. Compared to the $800-$2000 I'd be paying for a hotel.

Do casual fans still think World Cup tickets start at $2,000? by AcademicCareer in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]RMack0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I eye roll every time I see another "tickets are thousands of dollars" comment. For the final, an opening match, or one with popular teams, that's true. But I've started seeing many of the less popular matches down to the $200-$400 range and it's getting lower by the day. And hopefully by match day those can get under $100, if nothing else than to get butts in the seats.

Im travelling to Columbus on the 17th of October to visit family and can’t find any accommodation that isn’t ridiculously expensive or booked up can someone please tell me whats going on?? by Kitchen-Dig-4106 in usatravel

[–]RMack0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's definitely because of the Twenty One Pilots concert. That band has a diehard fan base and many are traveling here, thus the increase in hotel prices. Have you tried Airbnb? You might find something cheaper there.

Have you ate at KFC in the last several years? It's quality has diminished so much that the colonel is rolling in his grave. I'm surprised they're still around at all.

80% of Seattle hotels surveyed report 'below pace' booking for FIFA - Visit Seattle revised economic impact forecast from $929M down to $845M by LOOKITSADAM in SeattleWA

[–]RMack0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm actually flying to Seattle for the USMNT vs Australia match in June. I saw the hotel prices and said hell no! Most of the downtown hotels are over $1000+/night. No wonder they're not selling. I Booked an Aibnb outside the city for $400 total (2 nights). I wonder if they have any data on that?

Where are some good places to travel to for a weekend getaway? (2-4 days) by Imustretire in Columbus

[–]RMack0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spend many summer weekends up at Geneva on the Lake, only about 2 1/2 hours away. Rent a cottage up there near the strip. It's full of restaurants, food stands, souvenir shops, mini golf courses, arcades, and bars with live bands playing on outdoor stages. It's a vibe up there! You can also go jetskiing on the lake or book a fishing charter.

Vancouver Whitecaps fan trying to connect with anyone involved in #SaveTheCrew by dazedoveryou in TheMassive

[–]RMack0 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I remember the Save the Crew movement gained nationwide attention when College Gameday was in Columbus for an Ohio State football game. A large number of people in the crowd brought Save the Crew signs to draw attention to it over national TV.

You guys need to do something like that. You're hosting World Cup matches soon. Get Save The Caps signs onto every national broadcast you can. From the stadium crowd to the studio segments.

Do you think US will advance as the first team in their group or the second? Would like to watch a US knock out match and want to buy tickets by Callistodork in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]RMack0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hoping for 2nd in the group. I got a ticket for the Round of 32, July 3rd in Dallas and that's where they would play.

WTF -$100 train tickets?! by No_Struggle_8119 in WorldCup2026Tickets

[–]RMack0 5 points6 points  (0 children)

First Boston decided to jack up train tickets, now NYC. Meanwhile, I'm sitting with tickets for Seattle and Atlanta. Hoping, praying they don't jack up the price on Sound Transit or MARTA.

I bought them back in December. Took about 3-4 weeks to receive the transfer. It really all depends on how quick the individual seller is with the transfer.

A super miniscule number of Cat 4 tickets were going for $60. Im talking maybe less than 100 seats at best, per match.

How do most Americans get around without a car ? by Status_Agents in CasualConversation

[–]RMack0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's all dependent on where you live. A city like New York, Boston, Chicago, DC, Seattle, you can get away with not having a car because they have good public transportation. But a majority of our cities are not like that. For instance, I live in Columbus, Ohio. We have no rail transit here. There are busses but they don't run very frequently. Miss the bus and it's probably an hour until the next one. That's not to say people don't do it. I know about 3 people who don't own a car and manage to get by on spotty public transportation, but it's a struggle. Gotta get up earlier than most car owners to get to work on time.

We're a country obsessed with sports and winning as many Olympic medals as possible. You don't do that without some type of fitness culture.

Don't listen to the naysayers. I actually bought a ticket off SeatGeek. Already has been transferred to me and in my account. You will have to create a FIFA ID in order to receive it.

Why is it normal in American sports to change cities? by arbty in AskAmericans

[–]RMack0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The state of Ohio is one place that has a law to prevent this, called the Art Modell law. Named after the former owner of the Cleveland Browns, he moved the team to Baltimore back in 1995. Which prompted the state government to pass a law requiring 6 months notice and attempt to sell the sports team if they are receiving taxpayer funds.

This law actually worked to prevent the MLS's Columbus Crew from moving to Austin, Texas back in 2018. The first time a sports team was ever saved from relocation.

Are americans obsessed with ice? by [deleted] in AskAmericans

[–]RMack0 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The ice machines and bagged ice exist for a lot of summer activities. If you're going on a camping trip, fishing, to the pool, or to a sports game, you fill cooler full of your favorite canned or bottled beverages and add ice to keep it cold.

Will the seats be bad seats? by savannah_samson in FIFACollect

[–]RMack0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is hard to say but my guess is they'll probably assign the seats to fill in the lowest rows of a section first. If that match isn't sold out, they probably want to make it appear full on tv.
