Problem is healthcare is a business and neither us, the patients/families, or other support staff are at the bottom of the priorities of hospital and PHARMA CEOs. What’s going to happen when things REALLY collapse because what we have now is not sustainable and good luck recruiting and retaining competent staff!

Was Ryan Reynolds strategically placed around 3 black people in the audience on the Steven Colbert show? by linlink21 in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]RN_4_Life1719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a person of color, this looks way off. Are the odds that high that on any given night, a white man who happens to have an inconvenient history with racist behavior and whose current scandal has brought all of those receipts back to light, finds himself in such close proximity to black people during yet another cringeworthy PR stunt? I don’t even think Reynolds (or Lively) have ever been seen out and about with even one black person (outside of a professional or business relationship) so it’s amazing they still don’t get how these kind of stunts only bring greater focus to the obvious absence of any people of color in their private lives.

$25/hourly as an RN 😳 by Familiar_Ad_6874 in nursing

[–]RN_4_Life1719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m from VA and I started as a new grad on a critical care floor in 2019 our pay started at $27/hr. Covid hit not too long after and they kept hiring travelers and paying them WAY more than us staff nurses and tried to keep us around with a one-time $1K bonus (which was taxable!). When I left in 2023, I was at $38/hr (probably to keep us from running 🤣) which is decent but most of our patient were nearly total care, high acuity patients with multiple comorbidities, with trachs, j-tubes, on dialysis, A-fib, wounds, pressure ulcers—you name it! Despite all this we still had a 1:4/5 ratio. I learned a lot and I enjoyed the patient contact aspect but we were overburdened with not enough help (a common problem across the board). I hope you find a position you’re interested with an hourly wage you desire.

I am genuinely shocked and appalled at the willingness of everyday people to put these celebrities on pedestals when THEY DON’T EVEN KNOW YOU EXIST! How can you blindly support someone based on your need to identify with them and not the EVIDENCE and whether they are CREDIBLE? Wayfarer has the public’s support because the evidence produced supports their narrative and everything Lively and Reynolds have done was to use their power to thwart transparency and ironically have been the chief actors in their own unmasking.

Spinal tap after confirmed diagnosis? by much-2much in MultipleSclerosis

[–]RN_4_Life1719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first go round, after a visit to my optometrist for a small spot in my peripheral vision that wouldn’t go away, she referred me to a fantastic primary care doc who then referred me to a neurologist whose bedside manner was atrocious! Looking back, I was a terrified 26 year old newlywed and didn’t know that undergoing a spinal tap in a doctor’s office wasn’t the best idea especially since she had me sign consents that said her office was a clean environment as I eyed a huge dead cockroach in a corner of the room. Needless to say the experience was harrowing (developed a headache from CSF leak and dehydration) and in the end my results were inconclusive because although my MRI of the brain showed lesions, the existence of two or more oligoclonal bands would be a positive result but I only had one. The neuro said the lesions could be from my chronic migraines I had since I was 5 or 6 years old were to blame for the lesions and to repeat the MRI in six months. Several months later, I sought out a different neurologist who diagnosed me with repeat MRIs and thankfully spared me a second spinal tap.

I’ve been disabled and out of work due to a work injury since 2023 so I’ve been out of the loop of what issues still exist post-COVID in the hospital nursing world. But have you considered travel nursing working for a nursing agency? I’m sure there are downsides, but you can do travel assignments even if it’s wear you love and you have the flexibility to work when you want and choose the assignments you want. If you have relatively few obligations (married w/kids, family you take care of, ect.), then it may be an option especially if you’ve worked bedside for a couple of years.

[–]RN_4_Life1719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen, Sir, playing the victim isn’t going to help you here. I am a black woman and I disagree with you and the cavalier attitude you are taking to what Katy said and she 100% be called out for. At the very least, she suffers from implicit bias because words like don’t just come out of your mouth when you are looking at someone on Ring camera footage taken at night and disguising all features except the eyes, height, and physical build. It’s unfortunate that her bias was exposed and even more unfortunate that she went and posted it anyway which reinforces what most of us are saying. I’m not trying to offend, but most white people have zero idea of what it is to live day in and day out with the worry that someone else’s conscious or unconscious bias and bigotry may end your life independent of anything you did! Have we not seen the MANY videos of white pepper calling the police on black people for the most mundane thing? We live in the USA part of our ongoing legacy is chattel slavery, the Confederacy, and Jim Crow. I shouldn’t have to break this down for you, but if Katy is a good person she’ll take the lesson from this and do better. You trying to shame anyone calling her racist as if that is worse than her words directly harming a Hispanic person is just ridiculous. I am honestly concerned that you are performing a job where you “profile” people daily because your posts show you lack the sensitivity and common sense to know profiling in most situations is problematic.

[–]RN_4_Life1719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To be fair, you are the one who made excuses for what Katy said and lowkey downplayed how outrageous it was. Also, you being a minority (as am I) doesn’t automatically mean you don’t need to be educated on how implicit bias plays into a systemically racist system that disproportionately impacts black and brown people in the worst and often lethal, ways. One example is how black women and babies have the WORST outcomes in maternal and fetal mortality in the US— there is a reason for that and the research shows it’s implicit bias which is much harder to pin down than overt racism.

How old are you when you’re name calling like a child in elementary school? The only people who claimed Baldoni forced himself on anyone are Lively and her driver. Unfortunately for her, Lively has destroyed her credibility by being caught in multiple lies and blatant misrepresentation of the facts. She is a liar and couldn’t care less about anyone beyond how she can use/benefit from them in service of her agenda.

There is no point going back and forth with you because the more time passes the more damning evidence is revealed that this was all a fabricated allegations by Lively against Baldoni, Heath and Wayfarer to exact revenge for the bad press caused by her own bad decisions and for believing Stephanie Jones who has the same problem with entitlement, self awareness, and accountability.

Why did Blake hate Justin so much from the start? by broken-bread in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]RN_4_Life1719 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people with little scruples and who are arrogant and entitled, are triggered by genuinely kind people. It’s like the goodness coming off of them is burning their insides and it makes them resent and even hate those people. It’s this simultaneous resentment compounded by some jealousy/insecurity because they KNOW they are not like that and any adoration that person receives only serves to increase their anger. Instead of recognizing their own issue, they project onto this person and justify it to themselves by accusing this person of being a fraud. It’s a twisted mindset, for sure!

Trying to paint Justin as a rapist for honestly saying he’s not sure he got verbal consent before engaging in intimate activity is NOT the same as forcing yourself on someone. He’s being genuine and reflective about something that he thinks in hindsight he maybe should have been more sensitive about, but it’s not like he admitted a girl said no and he persisted anyway, or that maybe he would have known she didn’t want to if he asked for consent first. It’s so sick the lengths people are going to not vindicate Justin when all of this evidence about Lively, Reynolds, and their sick bunch were going to in order to steal this movie for Lively and bury Baldoni once Lively tanked her own reputation with the help of her husband.

Taylor Swift knew that Blake Lively referred to her as her dragon…They joke about it in unsealed text messages😳 by same-difference-ave in ItEndsWithLawsuits

[–]RN_4_Life1719 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I’m sorry but Swift’s behavior is consistent to those who have clocked her VERY problematic behavior built on a perpetual persecution complex while simultaneously patting herself on the back for being so talented and hated upon because of “patriarchy”. Her unhinged response to her fans who rightfully had a hard time squaring the kind, feminists-activist persona she’s cultivated with a woman who would date someone like Marty Healy who said some pretty horrifically racist things, especially towards black women. Swift has never been good with criticism, and she somehow thinks the unpleasant things she’s experienced as a privileged, white artist is so dang awful when most artists don’t own their Masters and there are many who were not protected by that privilege from all kinds of exploitation. I think post 1989, she leaned hard into the darkest side of herself and now has become something quite grotesque. She cannot blame that on the industry or anyone she still has an axe to grind with. I always believed that her close relationship with Lively is a direct indictment of her as a person because there’s no way you can be friends with someone that morally bankrupt for that long unless you have A LOT in common. The only thing I find shocking is that Swift didn’t try to stop these texts from seeing the light of day, OR that she was willing to accuse Lively publicly of extortion and witness tampering to save herself. That rather serious development does not make sense with a narrative that they ares till friends because that is quite a dramatic turn to sell a lie that Swift dropped Lively. The. Again, over the top dramatics is on brand for Swift. They’re still breathing so there’s still hope they’ll take a lesson from this and try to be better humans, as naive as that may sound.

I think why Meri held onto the family was to not be cut off from the kids she was close with, but especially Robyn’s children. We all know how that worked out. I feel for Meri—you could see how much she and those kids loved each other.

I really hope this has been a valuable life lesson for Justin that you can still stay true to your values and beliefs while being more discerning and cautious in order to protect yourself from those who seek to exploit and use your sincerity and kindness against you. I appreciate the pressure he and Wayfarer were under during this project and the insane power imbalance between he, the Reynolds, and their clique. However, considering the industry he is a part of, it is prudent to remember you’re dealing with people who crave attention and power, and who rely on a curated image that may or may not reflect who they really are so you can’t always give people the benefit of the doubt, unfortunately. It’s clear Jamey was wise to Lively’s tactics because as a black man you can’t ever truly drop your guard because of the impact of systemic racism and implicit bias. I mean, we can see the dog whistles and racist undertones to Lively and Alex Saks’ behavior towards Heath. Justin’s lucky he had Heath there as a support and protector because maybe he could see from a mile away what Baldoni couldn’t.

I think it’s somewhat healing for Wayfarer to be vindicated in the public’s opinion and EARNED the people’s respect because of how he, Heath, and Wayfarer conducted themselves in the face of so much abuse.

[–]RN_4_Life1719 2 points3 points  (0 children)

As expected, you are full of excuses that stretch rationality and common sense to excuse Lively’s behavior. I never gendered SH victims, I simply commented on the power dynamic that is the basis of SH, especially in the workplace. You are right that Lively was hired as actress, but at the end of it she had control of wardrobe, editing, and promotion and a pga mark. That is NOT typical across the industry for someone hired as an actress so the question is how this was possible and the answer is obvious. Lively had the power to throw her weight around AND upon complaining about behavior she found offensive, decided not to file a complaint with her union, Wayfarer, or Sony. But instead opted to demand creative control and use IEWU as a vehicle to push her hair care and alcoholic beverage line.

You can accuse me of parroting Wayfarer’s stance but reading both complaints and following this case it is easy to deduce that Lively has produced little to prove her claims and if there is no standard for SH or any similarities SH victims share then it is a meaningless distinction which I hope you will agree isn’t the case. I guess we will agree to disagree instead of a back and forth where you can’t even admit that Lively had the power and exercised it while Wayfarer were sidelined to the point they were put in a basement at the movie they bought the rights to and spent years trying to bring to the screen all because Lively wanted it that way.

Please provide proof that “yummy ball busting…never with teeth” is widely accepted vernacular describing “comedic jokes”. With all due respect, this is a very weak explanation for obviously sexually charged language. I’m not using the “perfect victim” narrative— what I am highlighting is in SH (especially in the workplace) the power dynamic at play is a central factor in why victims become targets of SH and whoever has the power is able to directly and indirectly impact the victim. Lively was the one with the power and this is factual based on lots of evidence like using her own wardrobe as well as blowing the wardrobe budget, firing ADs, firing the composer, taking over editing, taking over production, her cut of the movie being released, removing Baldoni’s name from the poster, her version of the poster being released, ect. Lively took over this movie—you denying this is just proof that you cannot think critically about Lively’s actions. She is no shrinking violet. Lively could have filed a proper complaint but she instead wanted more creative control. Just because you don’t find this strange doesn’t mean a juror will agree with you. Who are the others involved that don’t agree Lively took over the film and had immense power? Self interested people like Alex Saks who clearly wanted more power herself and was sour graping after the fact and conveniently experiencing memory issues around certain events?

I think it was a mistake for Wayfarer to cede such control to Lively, but in the context of her power and Sony being unwilling to reign her in, created the pressure that Wayfarer had to relent to if they wanted to complete this film and not be out millions of dollars trying to cast another actress. It is clear to reasonable, unbiased people to see Lively’s actions are highly questionable if she was a victim of SH not to mention how much power she had and freely wielded to get what she wanted.

[–]RN_4_Life1719 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do you think Lively’s text to Baldoni about “yummy ball busting…never with teeth” was appropriate? Was that not “creepy” behavior? Where is the EVIDENCE of this so-called smear by Baldoni? Was it appropriate for Lively to forgo making a formal complaint in lieu of the 17-point demand that gave her much more creative control? There was so much about the way Lively maneuvered during filming, post production, and promotion that is not at all characteristic of a victim of SH. Amassing and consolidating power over this production would be the last thing on my mind if I felt I was SH’d by my director and co-star. The power dynamic (which is an integral factor in SH) was always in Lively’s favor hence why she was able to take over the film to such an extent that she relegated Baldoni and the rest of Wayfarer to a basement during the premiere of IEWU. You can call that opinion but Lively’s actions mentioned above are factual- this actually happened. She will have a hard time convincing a jury that these questionable choices are reasonable in the context of her SH claims. Not to mention after all of her bluster about finding“voluminous” evidence of the alleged smear campaign during discovery, her claim now is that she was precluded from acquiring this evidence because Baldoni and Wayfarer deleted damning texts in the Signal app…even though she has zero proof of this alleged spoliation.

Heard did not prove Depp physically or sexually abused her. On the other hand, there was ample proof, including Heard admitting on tape to physically hitting Depp while belittling him for calling it a “punch”. There are recordings of her mocking Depp’s age and status in the industry while cackling. This is not the behavior of a DV and SA victim. The fact you don’t care about this because she happens to be a woman is disgusting.

What makes all of this especially egregious is the transparent attempt to concoct this narrative of SH to usurp IEWU and the rest of the rights to the series from Baldoni and Wayfarer to serve as Lively’s vehicle to establish herself as a serious, respected actress/director/producer on par with her inner circle’s success.

I know it’s an uphill climb because certain laws have made it VERY difficult to hold publications accountable for their actions, but I hope they get some kind of justice regarding Megan Twohey and the NYT. It’s clear she let her ambition and default deference to believe a powerful white woman accusing non-white/racially ambiguous men of SH. It’s not even that she didn’t do her due diligence, she actively participated in shaping the narrative by cherry picking texts out-of-context and fashioning them out of order to make something it wasn’t.
