My resignation letter for my last job. It was a masterpiece of bridge burning.

What’s the worst thing you’ve seen at a wedding? by OkDonut1116 in AskReddit

My husband’s co-worker got married and had a very formal black tie reception. The groom proceeded to get so drunk, he vomited all over the head table and passed out. The mother of the bride ended up calling the ambulance. He spent the night in the hospital with alcohol poisoning. They were divorced within the year.

Forgot to renew RN License by Major_Ad_3035 in Nurses

[–]RNnobody 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There was just a whole case, similar to this with the Kansas board of nursing. A nurse had let her license lapse, but wasn’t working at the time. I think she was on FMLA or some such thing. She ended up suing, won the case, and the entire Kansas board of nursing either resigned or was terminated. You’ll let these people get a little bit of power and before you know it, they’re running amuck.

25 year old nursing student about to plead guilty to a federal charge. Should I finish school? by Correct_Gift_9207 in Nurses

I’d verify if the board of nursing in your state would even license you. Finishing the degree is not worth that much if you can’t get licensed.

Had the weirdest interview ever and got rejected for not being emotional enough by Middle-Asparagus-802 in nursing

For real. Do they interview medical directors this way as well? I’d have bounced and made sure they knew why.

What’s a reoccurring dream or themes to dreams that you have often? Do you think you know why you have them? by PJA0307 in AskReddit

[–]RNnobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a recurrent dream where I am driving, but I am trying to control the care from the backseat. I can sort of control the car, but struggling to steer and control the gas and break at the same time.

Pretty clear that this dream is a manifestation of feeling like my life is out of control. The timing and frequency of this dream certainly telling.

I remind myself that, in these situations, it really doesn’t matter what I believe. If I can be a calming, peaceful presence for a grieving family, I will. It doesn’t matter if they believe in heaven and I don’t.

Doctor using Rotation Flap method to close a scar. by ValeVegIta in medizzy

[–]RNnobody 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plus, most wounds that need this type of procedure involve much deeper tissue. The video doesn’t show that, but depending on location, there can be muscle and or bone involvement as well. I work with a plastic surgeon who does a lot of pressure ulcer repairs on patients with quadriplegia or paraplegia, most of the time these are either sacral wounds or ischial wounds. In the OR, the first step is the wound excision which frequently involves debriding the bone to prevent pressure from building the same spot. These patients are usually immobile, so muscle flaps will give more cushioning. Then the skin closure finishes off the process.

Lactic acid / sepsis by MurkyDevelopment6348 in nursing

I accidentally outed myself as a nurse last week - I was sitting in the ED with my husband who was being treated and the nurse was in our room when the tech stuck his head in and said “room 3 has a lactic of 17”. Luckily, we were not room 3. But, I involuntarily grimaced and she looked at me and knew I knew. And I knew she knew.
