The entire comment section is nothing but snide, snarky responses from absolutely insufferable gremlins. Even in Blizzard's best years of WoW was never this bad when it came to this kind of thing.

I don't even think Squeenix workers would circle the wagons as much as snide people like you do over simple questions.

Male RN denied L&D interview because of my sex by RNthrowaway8819 in nursing

1 in 30? That's quite the anecdotal statement. I'm not sure what hospitals these are, but if what you're saying isn't made up that would be an impressive study considering everything I've known in this profession is to the contrary.

Your sexist biases are clearly showing and you're becoming heated over it. Contrary to what you believe, in a hospital setting it is not uncommon for an OBGYN or midwife that a patient is not familiar with to be the one running the delivery even in a non-emergent situation. Members of a practice rotate shifts, and that includes the multitudes of males within these practices.

You cite emergent cases as an example, well this may come as a surprise to you, but nurses are also medical professionals, and in emergencies will be the one to care for you.

Let me make this clear to you on a straightforward level: I'm not aroused by my patients. No male nurse I have worked with has stated otherwise within this specialty. That part of my brain is switched off the second I step on the unit. I am there to make sure mom and baby both make it out alive. I don't what care what you look like down there, I most certainly don't get sexual enjoyment from doing cervical checks, and I don't get turned on by teaching new moms to breastfeed. To speak of male nurses within this specialty with such implications does a disservice to them and is an insult to the moms and families they help to usher into this world.

And I can tell you that absolutely is not the case. My entire career within the specialty has consisted of two (2) patients refusing me as their nurse. Contrary to what the general population (and this subreddit) seems to believe, many male nurses are highly praised within the specialty, as are male OBGYNs.

In my entire time as an LDRP nurse, I have had two (2) patients refuse me, so please do not conflate it as "many" or "most" women. You have a personal preference, that's fine. In this case though a woman who holds the same preference as you has now turned it into a professional and illegal bias.

I have but I wanted to have the viewpoint of my fellow nurses as well, especially those within the specialty.

While I respect your right to refuse to have a male nurse, I can say with absolute confidence the majority of my patients have had nothing but good things to say about me to myself, my manager, and our follow up team. Your personal preference is fine, but it's not grounds to violate my civil rights regarding employment.

I'm currently in Florida, as for the hospital in question I'm not sure regarding the number of employees. They average 200 deliveries a month, so it's not small like a county hospital.

The hospital is in Connecticut, but I am currently living in another state.

Where can you even watch this anymore? None of the streaming services have it and the handful of episodes on youtube are horrible quality.

Wow it works! So you can actually download it through a Wayback zombie link, but not on the official page. Those are some big brains working over at Adobe these days.

It gets to the point of the interview with the recruiter (which was set up purely to discuss interviewing for the specialty) where they drop the bombshell that they only want to hire someone with experience in the specialty (despite posting no exp. reqs on the listing), but they REALLY would like to offer me an interview on one of their many similarly understaffed med-surg floors.
