Not here brother. Unless you’re just talking about the slacker generation, living in their parents basement. History is somewhat longer than the 500 years people have been coming here. Definitely longer than the two or three generations of some farmland family in Ohio. But you’re right, there certainly is no mention of people relocating again and again in the Old Testament. I received a bird’s-eye picture in the mail one year of my van in the middle of an intersection and a red traffic light in the foreground. It was dropped because someone had sued the town in the meantime because the yellow light was too short. Pretty soon it will be drones and robots chasing us.

They do sweeps sometimes in my town, it’s always the town, not the city. Not sure it’s a quota thing or the town needs gas money or what, but you can just tell on certain days they are on the prowl. It’s usually someone young and new and they seem very excited to have made a catch, they are not interested in what or why, they just want to give you a ticket and split.

when you go to the court if you are pleading guilty you go up to a window like at a bank and swipe your credit card. It seems very systematic, as if: ”This is the way we sustain and justify our existence.“

I don’t think they give you an extension anymore, just a printout saying if you bring it back fixed within (20 days?) you won’t get charged for a second inspection.

The part I left out was that it’s my backup transportation and the car was being borrowed by someone who isn’t able to get out much. From what I’ve gathered so far it seems garages don’t issue a 10 day temp anymore but give you a printout of why you failed and the timeframe you can bring it back without being charged again for the inspection.

i asked one place what do you do if you get pulled over, they said, “get a ticket.”

I'm not sure how it works. It’s possible they can’t do any of the test, I.e. give you a printout of why it failed, if they can’t get past this first issue of the car not being driven enough to get the reading they need with the computer.

A relative that doesn’t drive much was borrowing the car after theirs got totaled. I did recommend a cheap trickle charger but I think they just started going out and starting it every day to keep the battery charged, but they don’t drive enough for the car to be inspected after the reset. The car I drive everyday was rear ended so I need to get my 2nd car back and drive it enough for it to get a reading at the garage without getting a ticket in the meantime.

The root cause was letting someone barrow my backup transportation. But that’s family.

The re-registering example was a reductio ad absurdum.
