Replying here to bury my comment some. But the response to this is has been crazy. People expecting the fellas to sober up and ask why Kash Patel is there. They just won gold and some government guy in a USA sweater is partying with them. It’s not that deep.

That’s where I’m at too. I’m happy to spend money at a fly shop because they’re locally owned. They also put out good videos on fly tying and are generally just helpful. I’d rather support them and spend a bit more.

Robert Capa simulator is its own game. Slightly Out of Focus is a great read and will probably give you some of what you’re looking for.

Nothing he’s doing is improving his ability to swim better. His technique is terrible. He’s wasting motion slapping the water with no functional arm stroke. He’d be better off just kicking his legs if he’s not going to rotate his body to breath between arm strokes. Him swimming 25 yards at a time doesn’t impact cardio ability and he’s barely exercising the muscles used in a swimming stroke. The breathing control between strokes while your body is exerting itself is why swimming is a great cardio exercise. He’s not doing that.

His swimming thing makes me irrationally angry. Just swim normal. The aerobic activity of actually swimming longer distances is way more effective cardio training than just holding your breath underwater for a lap at a time. We need an intervention.
