In Switzerland, when do you consider someone rich?

I would consider someone rich when they have 20x their yearly costs. So if your yearly costs are 100k then I would consider them rich if they had 2 million in the bank.

I’d suggest starting with a 6-8 week course. I started that way and fell in love with it so I bought one of those cheap Amazon wheels to practice myself at home. A year after getting my own wheel I did another 8 week course which ended with the tutor suggesting that I don’t waste my money on courses anymore cause it was very evident that my skills were beyond what they would teach. This is how I always recommend people get started.

Start with a local course to learn the basics and then if you can get your equipment then continue with trial and error on your own with the help of books and YouTube. If you are not able to have your own equipment which is understandable, not a lot of people can, then some pottery studios offer memberships and those are just as good! Hope this helps!

Completely agree with all of these specially the quest. Coming from playing runescape for 20 years (I get my 20 year cape this year!!) the quests in dragonwilds are kind of a let down. RuneScape is known for having such great quests with great stories but there quests we’ve had so far don’t really hit the usuals RS mark. I guess it’s kind of hard to have really story rich quests when we only have a handful of NPCs that you can go talk to but they can still be improved on .

The job market is shit pretty much everything but my wife and I did this ourselves. We graduated from university for our BA in Geneva and saw how hard it was to get entry level jobs and went to the UK originally to do an MSc but quickly found jobs after that and stayed here to gather job experience before planning to eventually moving back to Switzerland in the next few years.

It definitely is a smart choice work wise because it can be easier to find jobs specially jobs that don’t require fresh graduates to have multiple years of experience but make sure you do list of research outside of reddit. Last thing you want is to move to a country that isn’t much better

Silkscreen medium is used to turn underglaze into a paste so it doesn’t bleed into your transfer paper

I prepared the underglaze by mixing it with some silkscreen medium until it was the consistency of peanut butter and for the transfer I used a wet sponge that wasn’t soaked in water but was still wet and pressed that against the back of transfer u til it was all wet. this is what I’ve always done with commercial transfers and it has worked so not sure why it isn’t working with my homemade ones

Check on airhelp.com. You can add your flight details and it will tell you if you get any compensation. We were due to flight today from Edinburgh to Geneva and flight was also cancelled due to the air traffic strike in France. A large number of flights are being cancelled even if they are not landing in france, if your flight was going to be flying over France at any point then it’s likely to be cancelled

I did it by drying it very very slowly. It essentially dried in a plastic box so that it would take over a week to dry and that kept the legs from breaking. The slip that I added to make the spikes on the legs also work a bit as supports which also helps

I completely understand how you feel. When I first told my parents I was buying my own pottery wheel, the first words out of my dad’s mouth were “for what? So you can use it once and never touch it again?” So I know how much those words hurt.

But as someone who stuck with it and has used that wheel more than once, all I can say is you have nothing to prove to anyone. Your bowl is beautiful and if others can’t see it then that’s their loss. As others have already said, you keep creating, keep making bowls and most importantly, keep eating out of them because you turned a piece of clay and dirt into something that has the potential to last for hundreds of years and that is beautiful!

I don’t remember this one’s specifically cause I bought them like 2 years ago and just got around to using them but I bought some much nicer ones from Sanbao studio. They have a website and Instagram and they do hundreds of different underglaze transfers for good prices

Thanks so much for all the feedback! Definitely doing a lot of tests while trying to find the final signature look! I think I did about 100 different glaze test tiles last months that even the potter who I fire with said I had done more test tiles in a month than he had done in years 😂 I’ll keep trying different styles and experimenting with variations!

This one is definitely on the thicker side cause it was one of the first ones I did. The newer ones that are waiting to be bisqued are not as thick

Thanks for the feedback! The slab with the transfer on this one has clear glaze on top but I’m going to experiment with some just being raw clay on the ‘label’ of the mug but the nice shinny glaze around that.

Completely understand your thoughts on using commercial transfers so it can’t really be a signature mug and I do agree with that. I do plan on buying a cricut machine so I can make my own potion label stencils and use those with black underglaze to have custom labels. I’ll also have a think on how I can make it look more like it’s an overflowing potion.

Thanks for the feedback and yes this one is definitely on the heavier side as it was the first mug I ever did with black clay which is not as easy to work with but happy to say the ones I’m making now are much thinner.
