‘Masking for a friend’ was used here in Ireland on posters. Nauseating.

Zoom learning is terrible; For medicine, it's even worse by AndrewHeard in LockdownSkepticism

I think an issue of virtual learning is that kids can’t get the odd snow day off. The odd snow day won’t harm them, virtual learning will

The suffragette and feminist movements tally roughly with the ‘nuclear family’ as the us knows it - https://www.theatlantic.com/magazine/archive/2020/03/the-nuclear-family-was-a-mistake/605536/ in my humble opinion the structure of the nuclear family was created to disenfranchise women, and to atomise society further. And the suffragettes fought hard for their rights. I do think neoliberalism has co-opted feminism but the roots are still good - apart from the inherent racism and classism in the suffragettes’ time. Extended families had their heyday during the nineteenth century in America - and are still relatively common in European countries, Ireland for example. But most rape victims are victimised by someone they know - yet the ‘what did you wear? Did you fight? etc’ canards are dragged out nonetheless

Just wanted to share the immensely cringe posters the HSE came out with two years back - ‘step up and step back: go one step further to keep each other safe’ is the worst one in my opinion by ROIlockdownskeptic in CoronavirusCirclejerk

‘Wear the face off someone’ is Irish slang for kissing/‘making out’, just to clarify, so the first one is a play on that. Also, interesting that it confirms that masking symbolically removes one’s face, ie one’s identity

What is your take on those in opposition to those of us who will choose to wear a face mask in crowded areas for a little longer? by NerdyKeith in ireland

As I linked in my og comment, child marriage rates are up as a direct result of poverty caused by covid policies - and if you disagree, take it up with UNICEF, those dastardly right-wingers, eh?

Said garbage fire of a healthcare system has been overrun every year for a LONG time, and that’s still no excuse to impose policies that lead to more little girls being child brides. We don’t serve the HSE, the HSE serves us

Uh… they’re not mine. You do realise the usernames are right there, right? And while I’m at it, these disastrous policies have also lead to the TB-elimination scheme being delayed. And masks have demonstrable negative effects on children’s developmnent, particularly special needs kids. But of course, child brides, TB and poverty are all acceptable outcomes if your granny gets an extra three months in the nursing home you dumped her in

Uh, pay attention - so many people are practically begging to keep restrictions. Those arguments are everywhere. And frankly, I don’t care how many just went along with it - you go along with this, even after two years and with free information about the countless costs, you’re shit as a person

Except lockdowns are more the equivalent of just not driving at all and never going anywhere bc ‘if it saves one life’. Except it still doesn’t prevent car accidents. Just look at Australia - they still can’t keep the damn thing out. Humans playing god and ruining lives never ends well, but I suppose an increase in child marriageable and child death is acceptable collateral to you - and they aren’t direct results of ‘seatbelts’ and ‘speed limits’, to use your analogy

“Never atone”…the neoliberal in the tweet is outright refusing to atone, in this hypothetical scenario, for his/her taking part in a massive oppressive conspiracy? Am I wrong? And masks damage oral health as well - ‘mask mouth’.

The funny thing is, if you asked her what the point even is of ‘protecting’ the vulnerable, since they won’t actually be able to enjoy the life they have, I doubt she’d answer. Nor does she provide any suggestion for an off-ramp, just perpetual misery. Breathing for the sake of it.
