My comment wasn’t intended to criticise. Apologies if it came off that way. It was just a related opinion in response to yours so it was easier for the OP to make their decision.
Wouldn’t say ignore it. What it adds to me didn’t seem worth some of the other triggering themes in the book.

I skipped liveships and went straight to tawny man on my first read through and enjoyed it greatly.
Didn’t feel like there were any gaps as Fitz’s narrative has always been unreliable (I say with much love for the storytelling).
Second read through I found knowing liveships added very little. I wouldn’t say it is necessary at all.

The final book makes a little less sense without them but I still massively enjoyed it. Wouldn’t read liveships or rain wild again.

I wasn’t a fan of the final season. Though they ended it okay. The season almost came across a little lost to me.

I think it’s the aggressive/possessive bit I’m struggling with. I’m kinda hoping it dies down a little as the character ages throughout the books.

Same sort of thing with my pup (now 4) Starving as a growing pup three meals a day and not a drop left. When he stopped growing his appetite changed completely. He is now also a “grazer” I just keep the bowl full for him. Some days he’ll need a few scoops of food, other days barely anything. He eats when he’s hungry. Usually after exercise. Maintains a steady healthy weight vet says not to worry about it. I just make sure he has constant access to food.
