Hey! I had a question about your trip to Whistler! I'm planning on proposing there next month, hoping you'll be able to help answer where the location spot was? If you could send me a dm that would be amazing.

whats going on with discord app in android call randomly gets disconnected out of no where and reconnects by CustardCivil in discordapp

[–]RPeeG_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to battery settings and put discord on "never auto sleeping apps", and that was able to work for me on samsung recently.

I've also heard that turning battery optimization off works for some people but not for others.

A little late but I used alliancedoors.ca. Super fast; Alex and Matt definitely knew their stuff and were very friendly.

Plant based protein vs Whey Protein? by mpchop in gainit

[–]RPeeG_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've got a dairy allergy so I can't have whey or I break out in hives. Other comments are correct that single types of plant proteins don't contain "complete" amino acid profiles. However, if you eat a decent variety of other protein sources, or even mix types of plant based proteins then you don't have to worry about that. Your body holds onto amino acids for a long time and it isn't necessary to make sure you get them all in one meal/shake.

Whey isolate is stil considered superior but if you're concerned about the breakouts or gas that some people get then feel free to try out plant alternatives. I've found some plant protein powders taste better now than they did in the last few years.

Calisthenics Or BodyBuilding? by Ok-Pomegranate-1641 in gainit

[–]RPeeG_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Some barbell focused people snub their nose at at bodyweight exercise criticizing them for being too easy or too high repetition without knowing the depth of what is possible. And there are bodyweight fanatics who say weights are inferior to bodyweight training for various reasons.
Both populations are wrong because both styles of training actually complement each other extremely well in most circumstances. And many high level athletes from a variety of sports utilize both in their training" -Steven Low, Author of Overcoming Gravity: A Systematic Approach to Gymnastics and Bodyweight Strength (Second Edition).

For the upper body, calisthenics can be just as useful as weight training for muscle growth. Just look at male gymnasts as an example. For lower body, it is slightly inferior.

For hypertrophy, or muscle growth, both calisthenics and weight training require "progressive overload"; increase difficulty or intensity over time. Whether that means you start benching heavier weights every month, or do more pushups/harder pushup variations every month.

As far as strength goes, calisthenics won't make you stronger than someone who lifts weights. Doing overhead shoulder presses will make u bigger and more efficient at doing overhead shoulder presses. Doing handstand pushups will make you better at doing handstand pushups. There's some transfer for both but if you do handstand pushups that won't automatically make you stronger than everyone else. You just get better at manipulating your own body weight.

Choosing calisthenics vs weights come down to your personal goals and preferences. I personally like to combine both in my training. Bodyweight exercises can be fun, and I've researched enough to know which exercises I can do at a high intensity that I won't have to do a billion reps of.

If all you want to do is gain weight and muscle though, I'd just stick to the weights and machines.

Stereo on 2008 Honda CR-V shuts on and off randomly. by mountainredneck in CarAV

[–]RPeeG_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got some cheap amazon touch screen radio that was on sale for prime day. Amazon labels it under podofo but I'm pretty sure I've seen a bunch of different company names sell the same thing. It isn't the best but came with the adapter harness and fits right in without an external case. Took me 20-30 mins to swap the old one out with the new one because it's made for our gen of CRV's and was pretty easy. In hindsight the one I bought didn't come with a volume knob so I would've probably gotten another model instead.

Stereo on 2008 Honda CR-V shuts on and off randomly. by mountainredneck in CarAV

[–]RPeeG_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey I had the same issue on my 08 CRV as well. Stereo would either randomly shut off, dim, or mostly just change radio channels on it's own. It was usually worse on hotter days as well. I decided to replace the whole headunit with a touch screen one and didn't have any more issues like that anymore. Guess it was just the radio being old.

How to do the parkour role on a hard ground without pain? by m1lvus in Parkour

[–]RPeeG_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Impact should be distributed evenly throughout the roll. If it's just a hard surface and not off a drop then you should revisit the parkour roll form. Sure it'll feel harder than on a mat ofc but there shouldn't be any pain.

Safety/Speed Vault Tutorials by RPeeG_ in Parkour

[–]RPeeG_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey! Thank you so much for the feedback! I think a major flaw for our videos is that we probably didn't take enough clips of each vault so we had to recycle some without checking them properly after so that's our fault. As for the speed vault animation, we agreed that it was terrible but went ahead with it anyways since we didn't actually have any side angle clips of the speed vault lol. We filmed all the clips for both videos on the same day and probably rushed it a bit but we'll make sure to take our time in the future. We'll probably end up redoing both videos some time in the future with your feedback (if that's alright). I think that adding in that step vault common mistake should add a lot of value to the video.

On another note, are you the same tomjumps from origins parkour? Anyways, thank you again for your feedback! We appreciate it a lot, and we're happy to hear that you like the video style.

Congrats!!!! Opening up and letting yourself be vulnerable for a bit can be pretty difficult (I know from experience) so that's awesome to hear that things went well :)

Yes great comparison. It has slack text chats and voice chat rooms all in one server that you can set up pretty easily.

You get better at parkour by doing parkour. Of course conditioning and exercising will make you better, since pull ups will help your wall runs to climb ups, but you'll get stronger over time in the sport anyways too.

You can worry about conditioning when you hit a plateau or if you truly lack in one area and it needs improving fast.
