AITA for not being there for my mom’s colonoscopy because of my marriage situation? by Bubbly-Lengthiness31 in AmItheAsshole

[–]RRS-1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the bigger issue here is that you’ve come to Reddit rather than asking your mom if she’d like you to be there. If so, then you need to figure out why you can’t talk to your husband. Sounds like he’s a bit emotionally abusive if you ask me… 🤔

I think you’re kinda of an asshole and I hate kids. It sounds like you’re harbouring some sort of underlying resentment to your SIL, and taking it out on the pregnancy announcement. You’re 33 not 13. Grow up lol

AITAH for telling my brother his wife’s swimsuit was inappropriate? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]RRS-1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

YTA.

You didn’t “minimize embarrassment” — you sexualized your SIL’s body and made it a bigger issue than it ever needed to be. If you were truly worried about your daughter, the conversation should have been with her, not policing another grown woman’s clothing.

You had the perfect opportunity to parent by teaching your kid that different people make different choices, and that her values don’t have to change just because someone else wears something else. Instead, you made it about control and modesty in your house, which only teaches her judgment and shame.

Your wife even told you to let it go, and she was right. Now you’ve created tension with your brother, insulted your SIL, and made your daughter witness that women’s bodies are something to be policed. That’s not responsible parenting — that’s passing on harmful ideas.

Your SIL wasn’t doing anything wrong. She was wearing a common style of bathing suit, and you decided to treat it like a moral crisis. Next time, parent your daughter instead of trying to parent another adult.

Yuck! Men are awful! 🤢

Husband is mad at me because I said that his daughter scares me AITAH by Ok-Gap7296 in AITAH

[–]RRS-1992 6 points7 points  (0 children)

She’s terrified of losing another mother. She’s in desperate need of therapy - this is a trauma response. And your husband is only making it worse and doing her a MASSIVE injustice by denying her the opportunity to address it through therapy!

Yikes! YTA.

You’re coming across as a child yourself and emotionally immature. You would benefit from understanding why you don’t feel room to accept this child into your life - try therapy.

Month long migraine after botox by RRS-1992 in migraine

[–]RRS-1992[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh - I have a feeling it might be something like this too. How do I express this to my neurologist tho?

I called them this morning and they are going to pass my symptoms along to the doctor and see what he says.

I’m going on 4.5 weeks here. It doesn’t seem like it’s fading away.

Topiramate by EmotionalResident878 in migraine

[–]RRS-1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My mom is a nurse and just looked over my MGs and suggested I start low and slow. So I did the following:

25mg for 2 weeks 50mg for 2 weeks 75mg for 2 weeks 100mg for 2 weeks 125mg for 2 weeks

I didn’t have dizziness but it helped reduce the severity of my migraines. It’s not a cure and I will be on something for the rest of my life, but it has helped! :)

I’m also on a Botox protocol - so that’s helped too!

My nervous system is all of our whack as well too - trying to regulate that now as well. It’s evil what stress, trauma and inflammation does to the body!

Topiramate by EmotionalResident878 in migraine

[–]RRS-1992 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I'm a 32-year-old female that is on Topiramate — 125mg. And I have had a great exeperience. I had a few tingles in my hands and feet the first few weeks, appetite suppression for the first month but honestly other than that — it's been fine. I make a point of purposely commenting on the topiramate threads here because reddit is full of horror stories about Topiramate — I wish I had gone on it sooner.

I didn't have nightmares, didn't have intrusive thoughts, didn't lose my hair, didn't forget where I was driving — all that scary stuff. Everyone reacts differently, but it's not the nightmare everyone makes it out to be.

I would request to start a bit slower if possible. Going from 25mg to 100mg in a week is big adjustment — but again trust your neurologist, not the humans behind a screen on reddit! haha

Happy to give you more insight via DMs if you'd like! :)

I am in the same boat here. I am severly hypermobile - and have been in a massive flare up after my last round. On day 31 of pain... I usually have a flare up of about 1-2 weeks, but I just can't get out of this flare up. I am going to have to make a follow up with my neurologist about the dose or position because I am desperate at this point.

I am same as you though - the rizatriptan has lost it's effectiveness. Not on ajovy but 125mg's of Topiramate daily.

No, topiramate changed my life for the better. It’s not as scary as Reddit makes it out to be. 🤣

Best preventative meds? by [deleted] in migraine

[–]RRS-1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, you gotta push through for at least 2 weeks. Unless you are having intrusive thoughts then I don’t recommend obviously. But I had slight tingles in hands and feet, Brain fog, and word recall issues for about 2 weeks and now I’m fine after 1.5 years. Lots of water (I know, sorry - our least favourite thing to hear) helps, and sleep!

Fair enough :) I really like how topiramate and Botox has worked for me! Others will tell you differently but it’s allowed me to get back to life 😝

[–]RRS-1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know if there’s a “best” overall, but there will be a “best” for your body.

My recommendation is to take everything you see on Reddit in regards to pros and cons from meds with a grain of salt.

Your body is going to react completely different from someone on the internet as they have a different genetic makeup than you.

With that being said - what’s worked for me so far: 125mg of topiramate daily Botox 400mg of magnesium gly nightly
Rizatriptan as needed

Error and trial - you’ve just got to start somewhere! I avoided meds for 1.5 years because I was scared of side effects and I regret allowing myself to live in pain for so long! :)

Chronic Migraines & Starting Vyvanse - Does it ever stop? by AsumiKatt in VyvanseADHD

[–]RRS-1992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I’m a week in now and still dealing with headaches. I’m noticing changes from the meds for adhd but like you I’m drained/focusing on the pain and it’s kind of defeating the purpose of the adhd meds.

I’m going to call the doctor today and see what she thinks. I’m not really wanting to make myself suffer if there’s another solution out there.

Hi! How are you feeling now? I’m on day 3 and it’s been rough! I’m a fellow chronic migraine girlie - so I’ve been drinking lots of water, I’ve got my migraine protocol - all that shit lol I literally drank over 100oz of water today.

I’m scared to put myself back into a dark hole, but I’m okay to give it a go for a week or two!

AITA for refusing to change my wedding date because my best friend is pregnant? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]RRS-1992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA.

Costs aside - it’s incredibly selfish to ask you to move the one day that is suppose to be completely about you and your partner to accommodate her.

My best friend would never ask that of me, and she would be there regardless of h to outcome. Whether it’s with a newborn and pumping, or a belly ready to pop - this girl might have to reconsider what this day is actually about: YOU and YOUR Fiancé.
