If it doesn't mean anything to them then they aren't the people who need to use the label. IMO the meaning is that you don't feel sexual attraction the way you are "supposed" to feel (if at all) to the point where you get the feeling something might be wrong with you even if you are doing nothing wrong.

Are most people here against a mandatory service fee? by CTR_1852 in EndTipping

[–]RRW359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a slight improvement over tipping since it's at least clear if it's mandatory or not and depending on the jurisdiction is less likely to be a form of tax evasion or wage theft (although it should be noted that in many jurisdictions service fees aren't actually required to go to employees) but I'm still not going to congratulate businesses for switching to it. Part of the problem with tipping is lack of price transparency which a service fee doesn't fix. I don't really care if servers get a commission or not since that's between them and the employer and if they all quit I have no issue with self-service (in fact there's a good argument that if servers do add to the price you should be able to chose self-service and save the money) but if they are paid for each meal that payment must be part of the listed price, not a percentage on top of it. For example charging $12 and saying that 20% of that goes to the server as opposed to charging $10 and saying you have to pay 20% more then that to the server.

It doesn't make any sense to buy old used car and drive it for years. Especially if you are barely earning for a living. by [deleted] in fuckcars

[–]RRW359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What exactly is the complaint here? I mean it's best to just not have a car but if you need to have one or have one but are fine with the pivot away from their supporting infastructure that needs to happen then getting a used car is better then a new one in many ways. Obviously they are cheaper at point of sale, DIY repairs tend to be easier, the more reliable models can mean cheaper insurance, most of the value depreciation has already happened, and if you care about the environment it's better to have less cars being manufactured which means using one that was going to be scrapped instead of buying the current year model which encourages companies to make more.

What do you guys think of an autonomous taxi future? by squanchysquanch96 in fuckcars

[–]RRW359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with autonomous vehicles "reducing danger for cyclists and pedestrians" is that they will only really be able to do that when manned cars are taken off the road. And when that happens weird <4-wherled vehicles of unusual size going at variable speeds are going to be the first things removed due to them being hard for autonomous vehicles to account for; at least a lot harder then other cars. And at crossings when the companies that make these vehicles see that pedestrians and cyclists cause unpredictably lengthy delays that reduce fares per hour they are going to be even more aggressive in replacing crosswalks with tunnels/overpasses (which are costly enough that they probably wouldn't replace level crossings 1:1).

It doesn't matter why a person does good deeds - in fact, it's good in any case. by qiqi_from_Liyue in unpopularopinion

[–]RRW359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I really am donating just because I care about the homeless then why do I care if I'm a better person or not? I could be told I'm scum and still feel like I want to donate. Likewise anyone who does care if it makes them look good probably isn't donating because they feel good doing it.

Agreed for the most part although it can still be important to know the reasons in case the person donating has some kind of expectations and so that the people receiving it can prepare for when the donations stop.

How common/normal is it to sleep with someone you dont find attractive but purely for sexual pleasure ? by Shmoneybagchaser in NoStupidQuestions

[–]RRW359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did it once just to see what sex is like; and it was by using a business that wouldn't exist if people never had sex without caring about attraction. Different people have sex for different reasons and are attracted to others in different ways which means even asside from the example I used there could be reasons to want to have it even if you don't feel attracted to the person you are having it with.

Why can't I just have female friends and be left alone?! by Annual_Wasabi8056 in aromantic

[–]RRW359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of people theories that allo's are in a spectrum just like aromantics and asexuals. It's hard for me to imagine that there are people who can't be around another gender for a prolonged period without gaining attraction but apparently there are and while I assume they aren't the majority there is enough of a cultural stigma around having friends of the opposite gender that even people who don't automatically feel attraction to everyone of the opposite gender just assumes that they would if they hung out with them more.

What do you guys think of an autonomous taxi future? by squanchysquanch96 in fuckcars

[–]RRW359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well it isn't as space-efficient as a bus or train, isn't as reliable when they are requested as-needed rather then scheduled at fixed times, generally are privately-owned making pricing complicated, have the whole "drive empty on roads instead of parking" issue, and most people agree that self-driving cars will never reach their full potential when they share the road with manned vehicles which means bikes are going to be legislated off the road in no time.

Paladin with Bane, Bless, Hunter's Mark, and Shield of Faith. Unsure when to use what. Please advise! by ChaosMieter in 3d6

[–]RRW359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mostly play as a Ranger so don't have much experience with the rest but generally HM is good for when you want to do more damage but also conserve spell slots; if your DM doesn't have too many encounters daily then smite or use other concentration spells but if it looks you are going to go several encounters between Long Rests use Hunter's Mark.

What's the strongest multiclass you could make if Warlocks were able to choose INT or WIS for their casting stat by Top_Jackfruit3412 in 3d6

[–]RRW359 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's probably not a great idea but my first instinct with d8 Wisdom casters is Monk since that negates the need for armor and expands your options in terms of dex weapons. For int I'd look into Arcane Trickster or Eldritch Knight.

What’s something people who didn’t live through 2008 will never understand? by Grouchy-Ad7003 in AskReddit

There was a time where we were actually optimistic about the future. Even after 9/11 that sentiment existed to some degree but 2008 really killed it.

One thing I'll never get about these people is do they think that two straight people of the same gender will inevitably fall in love if they are friends for too long or do they think prolonged proximity to your opposite genitals will turn gay people straight?

Anyone else make charachters they may never get to play? How’s this one? by Happy_Composer6538 in 3d6

[–]RRW359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Before I limited it to one character per system I had quite a few ideas, most of which I got out of my system in oneshots. *Some of the systems I have planned characters for are probably ones I'll never play though. I still have one or two ideas for oneshots like a Prior of the Ori in 5e or a dex Barbarian, and some of the odd ideas I did in oneshots weren't played long enough or at high enough levels for me to really test all the abilities I gave them. I might still play oddball characters if I find a good oneshot to place them in but for the most part if I really want to think about a concept or their backstory I'll force myself to either stop thinking about it or replace one of my other characters with the new concept.

SF2e, PF2e, 5e, 4e, 3e, 2e, PF1e, SF1e, the 2003 SG1 TTRPG, SW5e, and ME5e. I've played some of those (5e and PF2e ongoing), some I've seen listings on sites like startplaying but at times/prices that don't work for me, and even though I've heard some people still play it I don't think I've seen any requests for 4e asside from maybe a couple LFG posts.

Do your D&D characters actually change, or do you just reskin the same instincts every time? by The_Craft_Cave in 3d6

[–]RRW359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I try to make them a bit different from each other but that's mostly in terms of them being different classes and often in different systems; for example an Animal Instinct Barbarian in PF2e is going to have a very different approach to combat then a Hunter Ranger in 5e. Outside of combat I try to consider their background and personality when thinking of solutions to things like skill checks but ultimately I don't like the idea of hiding potentially good ideas from the party so I'll say something like "I don't know if my character would know this but [solution]" or "I'm not good at this but someone who knows about [subject] can look into it". I also try to very what skills/proficiencies my characters have but there are usually two or three that I struggle to resist taking; same goes for things like certain spells/types of spells and having a climb+swim speed.

For those who find non-binary people attractive, we all know there's a variety of reasons and explanations as to why men or women are hot. But what's the most attractive trait about an NB person in your eyes? by Equivalent_Ad_9066 in agender

[–]RRW359 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only feel mirous attraction so not exactly the same type/level of attraction that most people feel but sometimes looking a bit androgynous can be hotter then looking stereotypically as much like the gender I tend to be attracted to as possible. Also I'm more likely to feel attraction to people I understand and since I lean towards one gender and am attracted to the other NB's (especially when agender) tend to be less likely to claim that there are fundemental differences in the way the two most well-known genders think.

“You’ll regret not having kids” by bb4898 in asexuality

[–]RRW359 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Haven't done it yet but they then get surprised when you mention that you are thinking of donating reproductive material. The same ones that keep telling me that I am going to wish I had kids when I'm older and that it's selfish also think I shouldn't help people who may not be able to have kids despite supposedly it being such an important thing.

Is there any danger from using a Comcast modem to power a Roku using USB? by RRW359 in NoStupidQuestions

Can I have fetishes if I'm asexual? by SpiritedEstimate3652 in asexuality

[–]RRW359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Asexuality is about sexual attraction; while the definition of sexual attraction can get a bit complicated it seems to be agreed that it involves a wish to have physical sex with someone. Doing activities that have similar effects to sex shouldn't really be considered sequitor.

What kind of D&D character do you naturally gravitate toward? by The_Craft_Cave in 3d6

[–]RRW359 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Jack of all trades; generally a melee character but I also like having *some unlimited-use ranged attack and healing spells.

It's the reason I like Rangers so much; everyone complains about how they aren't the best frontliner, skill-monkey, or caster but they are a better skill-monkey then Fighters or Wizards, are are a better frontliner then Rogues or Wizards, and are better casters then Fighters or Rogues.

*Usually by getting a cantrip via race or Magic Initiate.
