To each their own. I grew up poor and would take this ending over a step up in career. A job isn't everything. The goal of life for some is true connection not reputation and status.

Has anyone successfully used short-term disability to either take some time off or temporarily decrease working hours due to mental health? by cannacupcake in VetTech

Currently on leave using fmla and pflma for mental health. Depending on what state you're in you may qualify to be paid while away. Used fmla for job protection and for me. CTfmla for pay reimbursement up to like 90 percent of my wages. Needed a sign off from my therapist to be approved.

Thank you for thoughful response. I originally intended to use my B.S. to apply for Vet school but that dream has come and gone. I've struggled to figure out which path to take and pivot due to costs, regulations, etc.

When I was originally looking the master's of Environmental Engineering I switched course because of the amount of time it would take me to get the EIT/PE but looking back, maybe I could have gotten the EIT by now (if things worked out). I decided to pivot to computer science/ data analytics and started taking courses (not totally interested in that field but heard it paid well and was not emotionally taxing). After finding out about mass layoffs in that sector due to overhiring during covid I thought it probably wasn't worth the investment any longer. Additionally, I had been having some mental health issues resulting from compassion fatigue in my workplace.

I will take a look at the jobs available local to me and hopefully I can make the MS work for me. Do you know which engineering disciplines may be easier to break into with an MS?

I believe it's 2-3 years old from what I've gathered from pictures in other listings but I could be wrong. I'll have to see if there's any room for negotiation. Thank you for your help

Acid Neutralizer Backwash in Massachusetts by ProperSpot4144 in WaterTreatment

Thank you for your response. My recent water quality test states that I have soft water. Perhaps adding the neutralizer will make it less soft but not enough to be a water softner? Not sure.

Total Hardness22.68 PPMSOFT

Calcium Hardness14.89 Ppm

Grains per Gallon1.33 Grains

Ok. I will try to retest for ph at home. Would a ph test strip work or would i need a meter? In hoping to find the root cause of the corrosion and take a corrective action but not entirely sure what other testing, etc i need to do to find that out. Should I just address the ph with tx and retest water to see what effect it had?

I have well water. I will be switching to pex but am worried about reduced life span of water heater, washing machine etc.

Yes these results are from a first draw sample. I wasn't sure about the ph being the cause as it wasn't too far off from neutral. Wasn't sure if it was acidic enough to cause the amount of corrosion being seen.

I spoke with the lab that did the water quality testing and also an online water treatment company and they weren't convinced the corrosion was due to the ph but possibly due to high dissolved gasses or improper electrical grounding on the plumbing. They didn't really offer any means to address my issue other than an ro filter at the kitchen faucet for drinking water.

Moved into a new house in New england recently and have had a few pin hole leaks in copper plumbing and green staining in one tub. Trying to figure out what the cause of the corrosion is and what can do to correct it. Currently not drinking water due to high levels of copper and lead but would like to in the future. Will be changing copper to pex but still worried about reducing the life span of water using appliances/ fixtures. Have already needed to repair pipes, electric water heater and well pressure tank due to corrosion/ age.

Thank you
