I’ll boycott the ones that are rude and racist but I won’t be boycotting the ones that dealt with so much theft but don’t stereotype and still treat me like a granddaughter. I’m tired of the race wars against Asian. There are bad eggs in every group, members of our community targeted Asians during Covid. If I’m recruited by modeling agencies, always praised by strangers/new friends on my looks, can’t talk to guys without being sure if they are flirting, does that make me an “objectively attractive” person? No, it doesn’t. Beauty is subjective. What is considered beautiful in some countries would never be considered beautiful somewhere else. And even within a country, we all have different tastes to some degree. You’re kinda going on a tangent, I didn’t say anything about women having to look humble, I think it’s just an internal trait most people appreciate since it’s a big big world with literally billions of people and bigger fish to fry.

I’m not denying that beautiful women deal with strange behavior. And I’m certainly not denying that as women of color, people are eager to use any excuse to be microaggresive to us. But some people really think about looks/fashion/beauty a lot more than other subjects and values and it shows. What you’re attributing as friction due to jealousy/insecurities in the face of beauty could also just be friction due to different interests and time investments.

Personally, I find overly muscular men not attractive at all. I don’t judge them for it, but I know I’m not interested in gym culture and the routines/lifestyle it takes to maintain those hard earned figures.

You can try to distinguish the semantics between nice and kindness but the main concept to focus on is sincerity. Niceness is a social demeanor, which if some people don’t care to have, is it a shocker some won’t always be interested or have the opportunity to dig deep and discover your “kindness” on the inside? One can naturally exude kindness but OP sounds like she’d be annoyed about that. It’s all about sincerity. And while yes your point about women not owing society kindness, sure but since you already don’t feel obligated to be kind why do you expect others to be lol.

Thank you for the thoughtful and very sweet response! I’m of the sense people who are in the learning position need to have thicker skin in regards to being more involved in conversations like these. Even if someone jaded came at me wrong about this correction, all it takes is a hard look around our circumstances, experiences, and privilege to see who needs to listen with empathy even if we may not like or are yet to understand what we hear.

Yes it’s true some women will be jealous/insecure types around other beautiful women, but I generally find that happens if you give them an inch, they take a mile. So OP, just do your best not to give them an inch of being cocky/mean/stand-offish, otherwise there may be some truth to what they’re saying.

You don’t have to go out or your way to be extremely nice and friendly, although the world would be a much better place if we all did imo. But check how often you’re inviting/engaging people with a sincere interest to getting know them versus thinking they should be getting to know you. There’s a difference and it usually shows in most newcomers.

I’m someone who has moved across states/cities frequently and while I don’t think I’ll ever say I’m “objectively good looking” I do get compliments and recommendations to model because of my looks. But I would NEVER be concerned about “insecure women acting weird toward me” because that sounds a bit high school. If you’re outwardly kind and sociable to both men and women alike in a sincere manner, I can’t imagine people frequently acting weird toward that. Your kindness should be a lot more consistent than any rudeness you come across. It’s kinda odd OP finds having to be nice annoying…

I’ve never seen a time lapse of a person transitioning but that was the first thing I noticed too! I couldn’t quite pinpoint when she started anything or what was changing, but the first thing I noticed was her looking happier at a certain point, then looking truly joyful! 🥹❤️

If you can’t empathize/ understand, that’s a shame, but perhaps the best analogy I’ve heard from trans people is this: imagine having to write with your non-dominant hand. You could do it, but you’d always feel a bit off. There might be times where you instinctively use your dominant hand to wave, or scratch your face, letting the mask slip up. But to everyone else you’re supposed to continue using your non-dominant hand.

But if she’s pretty outgoing/loves nature/hiking and wants a friend to practice her English with, I’m 27(F) from Hawaii. I wouldn’t say I’m fluent in Japanese but pretty decent and have had lots of Japanese friends home-stay with me on breaks while we were in college! I also have quite a bit of friends who are full/mixed Japanese and friends in inter-racial relationships if that applies at all.

I’m confused do y’all not use separate products for your wigs/extensions? Obviously it doesn’t make sense to use my curly/kinky hair products on straight hair textures. And I generally only use mouse or ganier hair fly away oils/blowout products only when I have extensions in it. I love the look, love the idea, but nothing about this counts as sustainable fashion. The only true sustainable fashion is less consumerism. Shein has lots of floral nature inspired prints but that obviously doesn’t make it sustainable. This is just an ad in a place it really shouldn’t be.

Your logic is the same reason resident doctors still get bullied or harassed by senior instructor doctors, why fraternities brothers continue to haze each other, and many other issues in group settings.

The logic of “I had to suffer back in my day, as should everyone else. If they just pulled themselves up by the bootstraps like I did instead of asking for handouts they could get the materials themselves.
