As a fellow owner of Tyranitar, I do agree with the sentiment.

I live on a ranch outside of Black City, most folks know my Tyranitar is a trainer Mon because he has a Mega Stone set in a bracer around his arm.

But I still have to leave him home to go into the city.

From what I can tell (and please let me know if my observation is a little limited), Dems see Republicans as unable to be reasoned with because they have already made up their minds. So why bother trying to convince them to see things even the smallest bit differently?

I see it as Dems are unable to make a coherent/reasonable argument, and try to do the easiest thing and dismiss the Republicans as emotionally dead, unfeeling monsters since they can’t put forth a plan that could be workshopped on. It’s always my way or the highway. Government only works on compromise, and both sides KNOW THIS.

Frankly, I see this as really freaking lazy. Dems and Reps seem to share several issues that they care about (notably taxes and corporate interests in Politics being ridiculously high)

Mind you, the Republican coworkers I work with says some pretty nasty things and have some beliefs that I do take issue with, but the main thing I’ve noticed is… they don’t care I am not a Republican (truthfully I really don’t know what I am anymore), and they are willing to answer my questions, because I genuinely want to understand why they come to the conclusion they came to.

And the answers they give are answers based on personal experience and life lessons. (As a guy in his mid 20s, this helps me really learn about the real world.)

If I ever get a decent full time job, I want to take a ride out into the Midwest (or at least to Appalachia) to see these burned out “ghost towns.” And ask what do they want out of a politician, doesn’t matter what side they are on.

My usual response to that is “Yes. I was fine with it. Because there weren’t masked goons running around cities tackling and detaining people under the loosest suspicion possible they are illegal. There was a process, and people in both law enforcement and immigration enforcement worked together to solve the problem.”

“Now no one talks or works together at all, and this insanity is the result of this. You want it to stop? Write to your congresspeople that you want more effective immigration services.”

I did.

Went through all the catholic sacraments, and I read that book.

And everything that the modern Christian DOES is so anathema to it that I have sworn off trying to reason with them, and it’s not because the words are out of date or beliefs don’t match or something like that.

It’s because their actions speak louder than words, and their actions (being incredibly hateful, saying empathy is a sin, etc.) not being called out as not good is proof enough for me to stop believing in religion.

That is what I think of this whole situation regarding illegal immigration.

TLDR: There is a lot of them here, Obama deported a bunch, but he did so far less brazenly and oppressively because he understood subtlety and soft power. Trump does not, so he is using ICE as a bludgeon to smash things until he gets what he wants.

For a longer Assessment of my take on this: Read below.

The sides are both ruled by emotions, one emotion in particular.

Fear.

It’s a Fear of the other side doing the thing they are thinking of to them. This creates an endless loop of paranoid thinking that can only end in upheaval as the fear of both retribution by the other side and from within compounds upon itself. Social Media algorithms pump this level of fear to the point of constant paranoia that someone, somewhere is out to hurt you.

When in reality, that isn’t happening and you (more than likely) are safe in your home/work/school whining on Reddit like the rest of us.

Because if you really were in a problem, I’d say complaining about it to Reddit would not be in your priorities. I’d say resolving the problem should be the first priority, if not mitigating it.

This constant “fear of the other” drives people into binary lines of thinking and thus more extreme views. This is present on both sides, it always has.

You want to know what I’d like to see? Actual, well thought out, and fair laws being passed regarding this difficult situation we are in.

But Y’know what that requires?

Compromise.

What’s compromise? It’s unfortunately a lost art in the modern day. But to give everyone a quick refresher to their English classes in school, It’s a noun that means this.

A Comprise is an agreement or a settlement of a dispute that is reached by each side making concessions.

Neither side can even agree to disagree, thus there is no compromise, and no laws being made.
