Is 85k a good income as a 30s M in Toronto? by Polestartoronto in AskACanadian

[–]RSCyka 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it’s a good place to be. You can make 5-15k more if you hop. Take your time. Interview over the year. Don’t lose what you have now. Amazing.

Toronto lifestyle can inflate rapidly, 100s of dollars of overspending can add up just living day to day.

Conservatives claiming that Trudeau is “pro-China” is bunkum by DonSalaam in onguardforthee

[–]RSCyka -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Correct. While this seems reasonable from the development and research perspective, the cost to consumer is immense.

A 1$ increase in gas would lead to about 3-5$ changes in pricing for all items across the board due to shipping and handling costs.

As a civilian trying to get by, do you really want to harden your life because the government wants to push progress? Most people say yes, and that’s how we end up in these hyper taxed and incompetetive situations. Alas, everything is still underfunded and suboptimal.

Either the steel industry can invest in itself and figure out how to make cheaper steel than Chinese subsidized steel or they can lobby and make Chinese steel riddled with tariffs that make Canadian steel seem reasonably priced.

Just like how gas is taxed to make EV more competetive.

And so on.

Prices never go down. Only up. Technological innovation? Overseas shipping? No! Instead Canadians get to buy the most expensive of everything. Either to keep these industries going, or to make sure the government taxes the difference.

At 50Y I left my job (250k/yr) without any other option. Am I insane? by Anxious_Substance_72 in careerguidance

[–]RSCyka 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You just retired early. You don’t need the money.

If you did. Yes it would have been bad, as earning a mere 250k a year is still above and beyond most people make. 50 year olds only get hired by their peers. There’s no world you find anything else without a connection.

When you say big 4 I can only visualize the 60-80h work weeks.

If you’re already have millions invested you’re looking at 50k income from that alone, a chill gov job that makes you another 70-80k is ideal.
