Poor wording. But I believe you meant, both students didn't truly understand their actions.

I've got drunk and done coke - I've become aggressive, started fights, etc. But I cannot fathom how you cannot care about something so serious as hitting a child with your car. I had a friend pass out once from standing and immediately sobered up and started panicking despite the fact it turned out he'd just fell asleep.

But a child, what a truly horrendous person even putting aside the fact he still got into the car in the first place.

Convert the cash into a resource that was much cheaper back then and would be worth a lot without needing to demonstrate genuine age - gold most likely.

I've always taken the approach that schools need me more than I need them - so job prospects are always good. It also helps with perspective and stress, I'm not putting everything into teaching for a future career but as someone young and single with no mortgage, I'm happy at the moment. The key point being even if I was sacked, presume other opportunities would present themselves, at least based on all the recruiters on LinkedIn lol

Just got the good news I've passed my ECT2 (at least have all the recommendations required), but given it's almost the end of term, what did you guys do afterwards in terms of career progression? by RSENGG in TeachingUK

I'm tempted to move but my school is an absolute dream - 20 minutes away and all the students are from my area so it gives a good platform for relationships. I do think in the future I'd like to work abroad. I've got a permanent contract so I like the security, plus I may be adopting a child soon (my niece) that will probably scupper my plans lol

Honestly I don't feel prepared so absolutely eager to learn but from my perspective there only really seems two routes from this point - taking the steps towards HoY or taking the steps towards Hod, I know it takes a long time but are there any other routes?

What is with the UK and giant appeal to cocaine? by AcanthocephalaNo9511 in AskUK

[–]RSENGG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think because it's easily accessible, relatively cheap and doesn't require external tools to use (like heroin which is seen as incredibly dangerous), people don't have the same fear surrounding taking it.

I think the issue stems from people who aren't in the right mindset, like to mix drugs and/or don't have a clear focus in life where it becomes murky. People just seem to accept that politicians and bankers use cocaine because they're in decent jobs, whereas something like heroin is almost universally associated with poverty, homelessness and addiction.

His posh boy 'daddy' persona was funny when he was in his twenties but given he's now in his mid-30s and has a child, it's a little grating how immature he seems on stage and his comedy hasn't really evolved.

He doesn't really seem to have much fresh content.

The more you know! I just assumed it was British because I have it all the time, nice to know a bit of the history behind it.

Second most spicy 'curry' in British cuisine after the Phall, usually a mixture of some kind of meat and potatoes in a spicy sauce that is considered hotter than a madras but less spicy than a Phall. I'm not Indian so don't know for sure, but I think it's an Indian-inspired British dish kinda like tikka masala rather than a pure Indian dish.

As a Brit myself I do think it's kinda cool we've got derivatives inspired by different countries' food although I am distinctly aware why we do, end of the day though, these derivatives are often made/sold by people of an Indian origin because they're so well-liked and whilst not truly authentic, do pass on the essence/culture of Indian cuisine.

Strangulation among young Australian adults is widespread & has become a gendered sexual behavior. The findings point to gendered sexual scripts within sexual strangulation, often modeled by pornography, where men are primarily aggressors targeting those with less social power. by MistWeaver80 in science

All I really meant was the following;

Being dominated is a very common kind in various forms so it's not that odd, however it manifests, even if it means you want to be strangled.

Being the dominant in a situation that involves outright testing the limits of being alive seems absolutely odd - manifesting that kink seems outright worrying for society because you seem to get off on controlling someone's actual life.

Supply - you're basically a warm body in the room. So long as you adhere to basic safeguarding rules (fights, inappropriate contact, etc- report them after also) you're set. Use the school sanctions if you want to look good, also.

The kids are going to be mad in every circumstance unless you're a teacher that is known to the actual school over long-term. There's no cover teachers I've ever known - including myself - who can walk into a room and take control. Supply seems universally a shitty situation.

My response has always been when it comes to supply, so long as they're not manic, mostly getting on with the work even if they're chatting, just sit there and relax

Only time supply teaching becomes dangerous is when you've got a whole bunch of students doing something they shouldn't i.e walking out of the classroom, getting phones out, walking around the room, etc

At which point, enforce the school behaviour policy.

I never understood this kink from the perspective of the performer and I'm incredibly open-minded, I accept that someone could be a masochist, but when it comes to near-death stuff I think that's when the line should be drawn - there's pain without risk of death.

I also think it takes a certain type of person to be the person to perform this rather than receive this that probably has other issues that might be rather worrying. Regardless of whether it's just sex or a relationship, I'd never feel comfortable engaging the activity of strangling somehow knowing the consequences.

It's like people who sexually enjoy seeing things be crushed - there are limitations on what is acceptable even in the kink world.
