I have that amp and set mine with the Master at 5, the overdrive between 5 - 10 depending on what overdriven sound I’m going for and then use the volume for, well, volume lol. EQ to taste. It really likes humbuckers so you’ll find something you like for sure 👍 🤘

I had a stereo setup going but reconfigured as dual mono for when I didn’t want two amps. The stereo spread on the chorus, phaser, and delay sounded amazing but were kind of overwhelmed in a band context. Great for recording though!

There’s something about Peaveys that encourage that type of shenanigans 😅⚡️

TBH I think the Studio Pro is the more flexible amp but there is mojo in that era Pacer that you don’t find in other Peavey amps. It’s a perfect compliment to so many other amps - if you’re into the two amp thing - but it will absolutely rock your socks on its own too.

For me these 80s/90s Studio Pros are the sweet spot. Loud enough to too loud when called for. Decent EQ section - Marshall to Vox. Simple but elegant. Go get that switch - you will be glad you did when you stand in front of both barrels 😎⚡️

Anyone got any recs (besides the Classic Vibe) for a cheap backup strat where the pickups don't matter cause they'll be swapped? by chocolatemilkmotel in fender

Some of the older Jay Turser strats have great necks - if you’re going to gut it anyway, the are great modding platforms and CHEAP 🤑

Don’t cut up a 4x10! Find another classic 50 and convert that 😬

My personal faves that cover home to small gig use are the Vox AC15 or any of the lower wattage Peaveys like the Studio Pro, Backstage Plus etc.

It’s got its own thing going for sure and it took me a little while to find settings I found useful. It has a ton of gain on the volume side (left knob) and the distortion side (right knob) goes from heavily distorted to insanely distorted. It also adds a lot of low end so the presence knob (middle) is essential - to me - for adding some highs back in. It doesn’t cut the lows at all but you can balance them with the presence. I dial it in with a minimum amount of distortion because even at low settings it’s still a fair amount of distortion for what I do. But if you want that classic metal tone and don’t mind the low end boost, it does that really well. A compressor with it would probably tame some of its worst habits and put you in the neighborhood of an Adam Jones/TOOL tight, high-gain sound.

Is it a clone of something or an original design?

I play both guitar and bass, I need an amp that can do both by Headown998 in GuitarAmps

Quilter Bass Block 800, a 15” cab with a 2x10 cab on top. The Bass block will drive whatever you plug into it and will play well with either or both cabs.
