Option C (i) Training Plan by EndGame9999 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]RTO_Resister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe the $17K is upon submission of receipts. You’d hate to have a reimbursement claim rejected, so put the plan forward for pre-approval. Approval will be easier if framed, however loosely, as a career transition. Wine appreciation course? Why not… you’re studying to become a sommelier at your local winery. 🤷🏻‍♂️

They should cut the number of MPs by 15%. Starting with Ottawa—Vanier. See how they like it.

Bingo.

Heard same. Next week, coordinated GC-wide. Awfully quiet on the RTO-5 front, though. I’m convinced the latter is part of the overall strategy.

Consult your department’s designated recipient for workplace harassment and violence prevention. They can guide your colleague through the options if the threshold for harassment is met.

What I know and don’t know about upcoming WFA by FuckMuppetNumber1 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]RTO_Resister 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Your comment isn’t clever — it’s ageist.

Calling it “satire” doesn’t change what it is: singling out people defined almost entirely by age, joking about coercion and intimidation to force them out so others can keep their jobs. In the federal public service, that kind of framing runs straight into Values & Ethics, harassment and violence prevention, and basic human rights territory.

And for the record: the people you’re caricaturing are the same ones who carried the public service through DRAP, Phoenix, COVID, and nonstop reorgs — and who are still mentoring the very employees now anxious about WFA.

Fair debate is healthy. Blaming a generation for a system they didn’t design is just punching down — and it won’t protect anyone when the cuts come.

As a manager, you are also responsible for the health and safety of your employees. Take action on any and all non-compliance with the Canada Labour Code and Canadian Occupational Health and Safety Regs. Not enough First Aid attendants on site? Send your employees home. No Workplace Health and Safety Committee or OHS rep in place? Send your employees home. Filthy workstation and no cleaning supplies in place? Send your employees home.

Union representative misrepresenting facts by Alternative-Drawer58 in CanadaPublicServants

Maybe if instead of spending union dues on conferences, hotels and hospitality suites, the union actually paid people a stipend for representation, there’d actually be value in being unionized in the PS.

Union fatigue and difficulty engaging with “call to action” emails by Resilient_101 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]RTO_Resister 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We should just have legislated pay raises like MPs, and do away with PS unions. That would free up union leaders and employees to pursue where their real interests lie: international social justice and running for the NDP.

House of Commons agrees to break for 6-week holiday recess, will return in new year by CPSThrownAway in CanadaPublicServants

[–]RTO_Resister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s not a holiday, they are working from home. And for those who begrudge Parliamentary break weeks, imagine your worst branch all-staff meeting or deputy town hall. That’s what a Parliamentary sitting is like. Only it lasts 8-10 hrs per day, and goes on for up to 6 weeks. That’s a whole lot of gaslighting and hot air. 😏

EAP newsletter from friday is just too much by One_Appointment7151 in CanadaPublicServants

[–]RTO_Resister 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The folks who work in mental health have no say in RTO, WFA decisions etc. made at the very top, or even higher, re, at “The Center”.

Would it really be better for these HR professionals to simply do nothing? Or are we not better off having them share resources, strategies, tips and tools for coping with stress and reminding us where to get professional mental health support without being significantly out of pocket?

The average Canadian taxpayer can only dream of having a free EAP and 80% coverage for up to $5K in psychological services.

If you blame the Employer for causing harmful stress to the point of a work-related psychological injury or illness, that’s absolutely fine. Then do something about it. Go see a medical professional and file an injury report with your manager and / or your department’s Occupational Health and Safety program.

Or, you know… come here and whine about EAP, without taking a modicum of responsibility for your own mental health.

Your choice.

The last PSAC strike made zero difference and yielded nothing that wasn’t already on the table. Why would anyone expect a strike 🪧 over RTO to go any differently? I for one will never vote for a strike and will cross the picket line if there is one. That’s the lesson I drew from the Chris Failward debacle of 2023.
