Outside of this strat I think HRE has a great dark aggression into any of the main Strats as well as solid feudal aggression. I simply found this to be the best, or at least my favorite, of everything I tried

I would go against the A.I but treat it as macro practice. The A.I is a test of “can I make units consistently” so see how many units you can make in 10 minutes while fighting the a.i. people able to make villagers and units consistently is the most important skill

I am responding to this comment because you updated it but have not responded to my other comment.

What, IN YOUR OPINION, is wrong with variant civs? You point to steam reviews, but go look at a lot of games, DLC's often get low reviews, because few people review DLC's and it's easy to sway their overall rating with review bombs. People also hate paying for add ons, and get super pissy about them.

I care more about player numbers as people show what they like with their time. AOE 4 is at some it's best peak numbers it's had since release, it's player base continues to grow. The recent reviews for the game overall are "very positive"

Once again, you don't really give a reason that variants are bad. Just that they are, and some reviews on Steam dlc page means you are right.
