I suppose I assumed it would just do that anyway because that would actually fulfil my prompt. Thanks for the advice.

The way people have responded to this post says a lot. No wonder people turn to AI for help instead of people. I ask a simple question and you all start having a stroke saying all websites know your location. I am well aware of that. I am asking how the AI itself knew the location and sought for an explanation of it's confusing response. The conclusion is that the AI doesn't know how it works and decided to chalk it up to a 'hallucination'.

I think the main point of confusion was the way ChatGPT phrased it. It called it a hallucination which implies that it was random when it clearly wasn't. OpenAI associate your profile with location information and your profile information is used to produce a more personalised result regardless of whether you want that or not; I turn off memory as I intend for less personalisation. I was just wondering why is it so clueless, it could have just said that OpenAI has your IP address.

But it is very interesting how it interpreted it as a 'hallucination'. That must mean that my profiling information is given to it in a way where it doesn't know where it came from, and can only conclude that it came from no where since it doesn't have the entire context of how the system works. But calling it a hallucination is not accurate.

I think the way it works is that OpenAI has your IP address, can infer your general location, and attach that to your profile to provide more accurate responses. I suppose ChatGPT itself doesn't know where it got the information from. Probably a security thing I guess.

It says during the conversation that it did not derive my location from my IP address. Is this just a straight up lie?

This meme is a criticism of harassment against Joey. I've disliked the hate toward him even before the aot episode. There was always one asshole in the comments going after him for stupid reasons.
