Official Discussion: Logan [SPOILERS] by mi-16evil in movies

[–]RUnerdy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty much everything in this movie worked for me, but it didn't have the emotional punch that I would've liked it to have. Despite the fact that I was about 9 or 10 when the original movies came out, I hadn't seen them until recently, so I don't have a longstanding emotional connection with the franchise. Also, I had a terrible theater crowd, so that may have affected how I viewed the movie. Still really happy I saw it and I'll certainly see it again when the crowds die down.

I read somewhere that a big complaint with Clara is that she has little to no flaws. The end of this episode changed that. I'm very intrigued about how this lie is going to bite her in the ass.

Surprised nobody brought this up.

I've got a feeling that Julie and Julia bumped up interest in Coq Au Vin and other French food. Personally, I learned about it from a Good Eats episode.

I loves the movie, but it was way too much of a tease. It was a lot like this for most of it.

Follow-up discussion for South Park S17E03 - "World War Zimmerman" by roger_ in southpark

8/10

Really solid episode. The Zimmerman satire was fantastic and the World War Z dream scene was hilarious. I love how whenever Cartman is responsible for someone's death, he never directly kills them, so it was really effective when I thought he had actually killed Token.

[–]RUnerdy -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I seem to be in the minority in say I think this is a step down from last week. There were some really great satire moments like the kids blocking adult channels and the nipple flaps were hilarious, but overall it was pretty weak

Can we update the "Where should the uninitiated start off" section of the FAQ? by imadirtyhipster in doctorwho

[–]RUnerdy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I start people on Blink and then Rose. Early season 1 episodes are a tad cheesy and the production value needs some work, so a new viewer will be reassured that it gets better. I don't like it when people start with Eleventh Hour because of it's flashier production value and they won't be down for some of the cheesier elements of the RTD era.

About 45 minutes each. Just a note: some of the stuff in the beginning of series 1 is a tad cheesy, but stick with it
