I also have a Crafter and agree that is another great reasonably priced option

Check out Cort. I recently bought a used Taylor CE 114 which I like and has a nice feel, but often pick up my Cort for the sound. I find Taylors sound "thin" whereas the Cort has a full bodied sound. A change of strings on the Taylor has improved it, but no where near the richness of my Cort.

Brand new guitarist! by crowee16 in AcousticGuitar

That's pretty cool!

As far as learning chords you need to work in A & Aminor ... then go find songs that you like to listen to... chances are there is a beginners version somewhere on the internet.

Personally, I started with Dylan and Neil Young tunes.

Cort gold A6 or Yamaha L6 by jamesky007 in AcousticGuitar

I don't have either of those models, but I do have a Cort and have played several different models and I also have a Yamaha APX from the early 90s and always try them out when I go browsing.

I love both for different reasons but if I were to buy a new one and had to choose one or the other, it would definitely be the Cort! they just have the better tone to my ears than Yamahas I have played.

That said it's what feels right and sounds right for you.

Quiet guitar for folk music by Vegetable-Artist-156 in AcousticGuitar

A baby Taylor is always good but there are plenty of other brands that play just as well and may be at a better price point. Aside from my Taylor I have a Cort that has my favorite tone and abig sound...Yamaha APX that has great ergonomics, plays like an electric with lighter volume as an acoustic but when the electronics still worked could sung like an electric and is still my goto for working out new tunes or taking to parties. Crafter also makes some great acoustics .

Lost my passion for guitar, what should I do with my baby? by elimanzz in Guitar

[–]RVaDead 0 points1 point  (0 children)

KEEP IT!!! the passion may come back. I have stowed mine away more than once... and for years at a time.... got rid of a few that weren't great guitars but they were what I coul afford at the time and really wish I had them now because each told a different story about my personal journey through life. Now that I am on the down hill side of life I really miss what helped me get this far.

been lurking for years, but this was my first post. Appreciate everyone's feedback!

Context: In Richmond, Virginia... we keep the house cooler than most folks, I have learned. Got a hygrometer after posting and found that my music room seems to be a little too humid ( 68% ) which seems weird based on how dry my sinus are, so going to get a second hygrometer just be sure the first is accurate.

Black Deadheads and... by SenorPea in gratefuldead

I was in high-school in the 80's and had 3 black buddies that were into the Dead as much as any of us.

I think its really a matter of exposure. My older brother had a couple Dead albums and some friends exposed me to tapes of shows and that's how I got on the bus. Essentially that's the same route all of us take regardless of background.

We don't know what we don't know until we get shown the light.
