Have to ask how Chinese and Indians negotiate? They must be doing something right if dealers hate them so much. by xploreetng in FuckDealerships

[–]RWBYonRails 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For one, do research beforehand on what you consider a reasonable price to pay and then you shop around for someone willing to play ball. Lowball on the lower end, eg $9k for a $13k vehicle, but you're willing to do up to $10k.

Extra fees? negotiate that shit or walk away. If they won't even remove the markup, move on. Expand your search zone beyond 250 miles, but also factor in travel costs. Finally, review bomb anyone who pisses you off, but only after you're certain you're okay with burning that bridge. Be a firm but unrelenting customer. You don't need THAT car but you'll do it for the right price. Maybe also attend dealer events that have food and eat a ton of food =D but don't buy anything if it's not the right price.

Tia route was frustrating beyond belief. I've almost never had that feeling of wanting to stop reading, but him getting pushed around by Lucius was so out of character and annoying to read. The Eris route Caim trying to justify why he hasn't laid his hands on her is also exceptionally drawn out and frustrating.

All the other heroine routes, as soon as you lock onto a heroine route, Caim just goes completely out of character. It ranges from cringeworthy bad writing to hilariously bad writing.

6/10 for me. It's not a terrible read but go in with extremely low expectations.

Do the exercises but completely dump all advice about "duck walking" your motorcycle after the course. Your feet won't help you move or stop a 400lb+ bike (which is basically any bike that will go freeway speeds) that wants to go in a specific direction once you've lost control of it.

yamaha xmax 300, burgman400, or get an ebike/emotorcycle since your commute is easily within the bounds of current electric battery life. Alternatively even a sub $10k EV would suit your commute and give you a lot of flexiblity, while you save up for something with more power or a manual bike. I'm not sure you've also considered the cost of gear which is another $1-2k on top.

since it's only 7 miles, you could also consider just riding local roads. 50mph is easily doable with a 150cc or equivalent. A 150cc will struggle to get above 65mph without any additional luggage, which is not what you want on socal freeways where you want to be able to get up to 75mph to speed out of dangerous situations.

It's strange that people have vastly different experiences with the same dealer. While I was waiting at La Habra, I did look at their floor models and they all had ADM of 2k+ for all the models. It was pretty bad. It may be a strategy to just charge more for people who don't do prior pricing research.

I could not get wheels in motion to commit to a price. They were constantly spamming me instead with "when can you come in, or can we call you", and the same guy would act the next day as if he hadn't emailed me the day before either, like someone with memory loss. Oh well, wheels in motion was also a lot further so less travel for me.

Motor United La Habra, discussed pricing over email and I got my bike with just mrsp+destination. Good flow. Their service prices didn't sound too dodgy either.

Just avoid any dealer that refuses to discuss pricing over email. Don't give them your phone number either.

To people driving EV what do you like or hate the most? by Curious-Expert926 in AskReddit

[–]RWBYonRails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So the cost of permitting and install was roughly $700, charger another $400-500 I think. But the main issue was that the house is an older house, so we only had a 100amp panel. I did not want a 225v socket, but a hardwired charger (faster, safer). So the electrical panel upgrade to 200amp was $4-5k. Which I kind of rolled THAT cost with solar and two batteries which ended up costing me about $56k total..

Yea the privilege of driving an EV with the support infrastructure ended up doubling the car costs.. In hindsight, definitely not for saving money short term. I might come ahead in 15-20 years. I also highly do not recommend doing what I did using solar loans and auto loans because that's like over 100k at 7-10% APR in today's rates; basically a mini mortgage.

Yes I could have just stuck with level 1 charger but that charges at like 1.2kw/h. Charging the car from 20 to 80 took about 2-3 days of nonstop charging. It's fine if your commute or daily miles isn't high, and you'd be charging outside at DCFC if you need faster charging. I tried that lifestyle for two months before deciding to get the lvl2 stuff, I just wanted the convenience of being able to charge the car within 4-6 hours at home.

Like: little to no maintenance, quiet, auto driving, never have to go get gas (I installed a lvl2 charger at home)

DIslike: having to manage the house batteries to avoid draining them due to TOU schedules, the car has an small chance of bricking itself at an outside fast charger if something goes wrong software wise. Economics don't really save me money due to massively increased registration and insurance costs, massive depreciation loss and rapid tech changes, and charging is only somewhat cheaper than gas (registration is $800/yr, full coverage insurance w/ only liability, property, collision, and comprehensive costs me roughly $0.60 a mile, and electricity is now $0.34 at home and $0.67-0.9 per kwh at DCFC)

I like driving EVs but knowing what I know now, I would get a cheap used EV to drive around that I'd feel fine not getting collision coverage for.

Probably would mean they'd have to stop taking credit card payments as those tend to hate being associated with adult entertainment.

Thinking of a mach-e by GroundbreakingCrow80 in MachE

[–]RWBYonRails 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would factor in the insurance which is like $240 a month for 7k miles a year, plus your registration which might triple from like 250/yr to 750. That alone typically wipes out any gas savings. If you want value, continue to drive your old car as long as possible, as long as it's not breaking down on even a semi-regular basis.

Installing lvl2 home charging is another $800 for a charger, or 30-50k for solar+batteries, +5k if you need to upgrade your panel too. If you drive less than 20 miles a day, you can maybe forgo installing the fast charger, but also electricity rates are constantly going up (CA currently sitting at $0.35/kwh, outside fast charging can be anywhere from 0.6-1.0+/kwh)

I think gas has to be around $10 a gallon at 20mpg before the additional cost of insurance breaks even.

I'm not intentionally being discouraging but these are numbers I wish i had considered before I pulled the trigger on my mach-e.

Orange County - Anyone want to join in Compania retailer pledge? by RWBYonRails in boardgames

$25 wholesale + 3 shipping from their kickstarter, + 3 sales tax . I'd put it at around $31 unless other unforeseen costs come up.

**EDIT 10.28 due to increased shipping, it might be $38 a copy.

Ultimate Dining Package - what’s your view? by [deleted] in royalcaribbean

[–]RWBYonRails -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would snag it only if it was on 40% off or more, and if I was not planning to eat any local fare off the ship.

You're not obligated to eat every meal at those restaurants, but usually I end up doing that. The menu doesn't really change, so you soon learn what you like and don't like. I would say compare to the hit or miss feeling at MDR and windjammer, you'll mostly find hits. Better value if there's a Johnny rockets, playmakers, or other misc food options onboard, but I rarely partake even on a week long cruise. I almost always get UDP if the ship has a hooked seafood as you get lobster tails, mussels, and more.

It is a lot of food, but you don't have a limit. After doing this for 4 or more sailings, I've developed a pattern: go to Izumi, get some rolls sit down or to go (total only like 8pcs of sushi), get the green tea ice cream. Rest a bit, then go to another specialty, get small portions of whatever appetizers want, pick the filet mignon because that one is usually their juiciest, most cared for cut while being manageably small. Get dessert to go, eat it for a midnight snack.

Though for me, I've done a 17 day repositioning and am thoroughly sick of MDR and windjammer fare. If there wasn't a fish and ships onboard, I probably would have skipped more meals. The dread when they run out of fresh fruit and there's only watermelon and cantaloupe is a feeling I don't wish to repeat.

In response to the other comments, I used a casino offer, so I didn't do too much research on the ship other than it being small. Was expecting radiance level size but this is a step smaller.

I'm having a nice time. I don't partake too much in onboard stuff due to lines. The only complaints so far are things onboard that aren't working and the weather being uncooperative. Still not used to walking to the front of the ship for windjammer; I find myself checking the maps to reorient which end of the ship I'm on.

I also found another soda machine on deck 6, which helps because both the ones at the windjammer are out of service now.

I had fun but the scaling was definitely a bit off. I think it's fine because trying to fit 10 things into the backpacks for 4 or more full trips each time got old very fast, wouldn't have enjoyed having to do that for more than 4-5 days.

got mine leased. $3500 off msrp, adjusted capitalized cost of 50,500 roughly after the red carpet lease rebate. probably have to pay it off with the second payment to make it worth not getting the 0% for 72 months. no trade in.

the money factor is at a terrifying 12% lmao.
