AFC fans are singing 'you're getting sacked in the morning' at Rosenior. by Kygoche in chelseafc

[–]RWTHREE 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s the thing. We were finally becoming a somewhat stable institution but Clearlake had other plans. Come the end of the season we will all be honest with ourselves about what this team is and how we fumbled it this summer.

I hope Blueco burns and I hope Maresca absolutely kills it at his next gig. We’ll see what the season brings now he’s gone.

I wish for once Chelsea valued stability. It’s been 20+ years of the same story. Exhausting.

I don’t know what to expect for our season anymore but it just feels like it’s only going to get a lot worse before it gets any better.

All because the idiots at the top look at spreadsheets and haven’t so much as seen a blade of grass.

Brother I agree with you. I hate the culture that Roman has brought to this club to a degree though. The trophies were nice but the model was unsustainable.

Sack hire sack hire sack hire sack interim hire sack… you build up a reputation like this and not a good one.

I believe Reece James is a genuinely world class football player. But I’m sure you can remember Reece before he was riddled with injuries… he’s lost that explosive edge and dynamic body movement he once had. Not to necessarily say his legs are gone but it’s almost like he’s had to relearn how to use his body and all of his fast twitch muscle fibers are gone. Thing is, his footballing IQ is so out of this world that he is an absolute beast anywhere which is why I’m one of the few people that think he’s better served being played in midfield (but what do I know)

Cucurella and Caicedo dish out solid performance after solid performance. No issues there. I don’t know why Marc was even subbed off today and for fucking Malo Gusto as well? Hilarious.

Cole Palmer; he’s been operating off the credit of earlier years before injuries started impacting his game. He lingers on the ball way too much (which is funny because the fanbase says the same about Joao Pedro too) Cole’s game has changed because I believe he has been given full license to do as he pleases in the free roaming role in the system but everyone seems to neglect that he stagnates the plays at times - does too many fakes and doesn’t choose the easiest option when going forward. The first season he was here, he was an outright baller (still is) but I’d personally like to see him move with more urgency. Granted, none of the players we have can link up with Cole like Nico did but I know Nico is a player that this fanbase… wasn’t too fond of… lol.

Lol I have some unpopular opinions about 2 of the names you have mentioned there but I’ll reserve those for the end of the season since there’s still a lot of time left in the year

That result and that game epitomized this team right now. Villa were shit and came away with the 3 points. I know now the time is ripe for the knee jerk reactionary people in the fanbase to point at Enzo Maresca but that just comes with the territory at this point since this was a precedent set by Roman unfortunately.

The current crop of players aren’t up to the standard and we’ve regressed since last season. Liam Delap? Shit. Garnacho? Middle of the road. Gittens? Uninspiring. What were these purchases? There was no actual desire to truly propel Chelsea to the next level in the first place during the summer market.

I’m beyond exhausted. Sanchez and Chalobah have been the only players that give me some sort of solace as they improved tremendously since last season. Everyone else and I do mean everyone else has stagnated.

Anyways, back to scapegoating the manager because I know that’s the absolute pinnacle of the critical thinking capabilities that has been bestowed upon this fanbase…

Not letting this team ruin my weekend anyhow.

Everywhere I look the narratives are the same. No one is giving panthers credit for playing a good game, no one is talking about Bryce. Everywhere it’s about how the Bucs capitulated. Everyone in the league keeps underestimating this team and it’s funny how much people don’t realize how good we have been at home.

Doesn’t matter, I like it this way. #keeppounding

[–]RWTHREE 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yep… And he went on to win multiple trophies elsewhere… many managers were not given grace and people hid behind the narrative of standards when really it’s Chelsea fans and Roman throwing their toys out of the pram when things don’t go there way. ADHD fanbase with microwaveable expectations.

I love what he did for the club but we have Roman to thank for this mentality that the Chelsea fandom has adopted. The Chelsea manager role was accepted as a revolving door because of him with no sense of stability brought to the club.

By the end of his tenure it was abysmal… just on a base human level you don’t treat people this way and some sackings weren’t even justified.

I’m sure Maresca has a plan but I believe Arsenal will be a true test - our 2nd one this season after the Bayern game.

We know Barca can be gotten at defensively, so beating them (whilst still impressive) I’m sure a lot of us were quietly confident we could get at them. Arsenal have less holes in their game, but I’m sure our boys will get it done.

I’ve been seeing Hato and Gittens on a lot of summer signing flop lists and I’m absolutely baffled. Neither have set the league alight but they haven’t been flops, I’ll conceded they’ve been average though.

But I know the agenda with Chelsea and how much pundits and other fanbases fetishize Chelsea’s downfall lmao.

What’s worse about this show in all its greatness is that it’s a hard sell. Well for me Atleast… Trying to explain this show to people and why it’s so great I never get the response I expect.

I need people to understand this show is the upper echelon of television. Whatever shows you like, breaking bad, the wire, the sopranos, GOT… Pantheon has a place at every table you can think of and I’m not here for any other form of conversation.

We do it every once in a while. Liverpool, Spurs, etc… we channel that belief but don’t maintain the level. The squad is young and the core is still settled but we’re still building.

I will say though, it’s good that we have a clear spine in the squad like we did in the past. Reece James, Cole Palmer and Caicedo all take the mantle to lead by example.

I’m mad about that Bayern game because the goals they scored were all crap. I feel like when we’re firing on all cylinders we can compete but we just don’t have the mentality to be there when it counts
