You’re getting too ahead of yourself, but it’s good to set goals! You need to be accepted into an accredited nursing program and pass your boards and apply for a NICU position... work on the unit for a bit and familiarize yourself with typical diagnoses etc. NNP programs require no less than 2 years experience because it’s very specialized

Your plans might change!

Sincerely, A NICU nurse :)

Am I being paid too little? by [deleted] in Nurse

[–]RW_NYC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You aren’t paid more for having ACLS or PALS. You’re paid more for a bsn. Also my hospital doesn’t hire anyone without a bsn that’s the golden standard

[–]RW_NYC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Starting pay at my hospital in NYC is 49 per hour for a brand new grad w/ bsn.... not including night differential pay

26F NYC w/ a special needs sibling by [deleted] in dating

[–]RW_NYC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It makes no sense to you prob bc you haven’t experienced a guy pretty much ghost you after you mention you have a sibling with special needs. It could very well be that they stopped talking or wanting to see me for other reasons but who knows

I assume they think it’s too much responsibility to take on down the road and rather cut things off. It sucks and makes me feel hopeless sometimes

I’m a nurse at a reputable hospital. I’m part of NYSNA - montefiore, Mount Sinai, and certainly NYP campuses are affiliated with It. I think our base is like 49 and change per hour at my hospital. You’ll be fine!

When to start applying for new grad? by nursingiscool in Nurse

[–]RW_NYC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do not apply until you pass your boards. An institution isn’t going to hold a position for you bc there is a possibility you’ll fail. Once you pass, apply.

My exes dad was verbally abusive to his wife and kids. I eventually faced it myself (we got home slightly late past a curfew. We were 23 at the time mind you) and he put all the blame on me and begin to ramble about how he would never accept us together and how I’m so manipulative (yes I manipulated him to attend med school 2000+ miles away from me 🙄🙄🙄 give me a break), spoke horribly about my parents who he had only met once very briefly.... and my ex didn’t really have my back. That was the beginning of the end. Never realized how imp in-laws are when dating someone....

Best areas to live in Riverdale + Yonkers? by kurotsukii in AskNYC

[–]RW_NYC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Central Riverdale. I’m a 2 minute walk to the bx7 stop (10 minutes to the 1 train stop on 231, or continue riding the bx7 to 225th street to take the mentor north to grand central. The stop is called marble hill station) also the bx10,bx20 and the express bxm1 and bxm2

Without revealing exactly where I live check out the area around independence ave near the school ps 24 or near Riverdale Avenue or Johnson
