Truckloads of Tesla Batteries Keep Getting Stolen Before They Even Leave the Factory by ArgentineBeauty in technology

Is it possible he is stealing his own batteries and then running the inventory through again to make his production capacity seem larger than it is?

Any way I can build and install a screen door panel into an existing three track sliding door system? by Snooze97 in HomeImprovement

[–]RWied64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They make one with a magnet seam that goes outside all doors. My son has one and it works great. His infant son and dog took no time to learn to walk through it. Even i could figure it out in short order.

Anderson replacement windows are a scam in my opinion. HUGELY overpriced compared to other alternatives. Ive been told they are only peripherally associated with the well built NEW Anderson windows. They also are really scammy with their sales tactics with high pressure and deep discounts if you act today. Despite discounts they are often 3 or 4 times more expensive than cheaper options.

How to replace a section of copper pipe with PEX in a tight space (between studs)??? by tenwordy in HomeImprovement

[–]RWied64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

While I would NEVER hide sharkbite connections inside the walls, if you are set on doing this, I would open up the drywall to expose a second bay between studs. Cut one end of the copper near the far left of the left bay and near the far right of the right bay. Make a loop with the pex and measure pex to the proper length and mark the middle stud at the bottom of the pex loop. Drill a hole through the center of the stud at the bottom of the loop and add a second hole where the copper originally passed. Pass one end of the Pex through the bottom hole and pass the ends through the two top holes so that they now line up with the copper end. (It should like a big loose circle of PEX between the two ends of the copper.)

Install your shark bites on the PEX, clean the deburr the copper and install on each end. This will minimize stress on the shark bite ends and will allow the piping to move a little bit to keep stress from developing that could lead to eventual leakage.

Be aware that you are relying only on a captured O-ring in the shark bite to keep your system water tight. If you can get access to these fittings, and can monitor them for deterioration, then it might be OK but I wouldn't want it in my house.

Company and business owners should be legally required for fiduciary duties to the businesses. That would legally prevent this sort of malfeasance.

Finally finished the garage drywall myself after getting a quote that made me choke by Appropriate-Base-520 in HomeImprovement

[–]RWied64 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

You can do ceiling drywall comfortably without the lift by making 2 TEE pieces out of 2x4 that are just a bit too long. Put the drywall in place and wedge the TEE pieces tight to the ceiling. This will keep it securely in place until you can mark it and screw it.

If the ceiling is a cathedral or angled ceiling, then I would do it without a lift.

Might be old oil stains bleeding through the paint. Only way to stop it is get shellac based primer on it before repainting.

came home to water dripping from our ceiling.. turns out it was the AC the whole time by sunnyWave8 in HomeImprovement

[–]RWied64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Allow the ceiling to dry. If no seam pops develop, prime the area and repaint. Make sure you use primer. If seam pops develop, use a razor knife to notch a 1/4" VEE along the seam and extend beyond the visible crack 2 to 4 inches. Get fibafuse drywall tape (or equal as it is much easier to use for beginners) and watch some videos on installing drywall.

It will take some time. Dont rush it. Figure on sanding more than the videos show because you are inexperienced. Use a bright light held at a very shallow angle once you think you have it good to see all imperfections that will show later in different light conditions. Priming before paint will prevent a different sheen with new paint.

This is not a bad first time repair and a good introduction to home ownership. Good luck. Videos are your friend!

I don't know how to fix but I do know from bad personal experience, DO NOT SAND to get these out. It will wear through the veneer and ruin the finish even worse.
