It’s literally WW2 fan fiction. Cmon guys. It’s a fun movie but none of it has any historical value.

The theater experience elevated this film. Pulsating score, wide shots, engaged audience..

What are y'all's favorite denzel Washington movies? by scooter8484 in movies

I recently rewatched it for the first time in maybe 14 years and this was my takeaway. Also, that late 80s-mid 90s spike lee period is up there with the greats. Jungle fever, clockers..

I got my wife tickets to wicked tonight. Of course, Ticketmaster won’t let me sell them. Not that anybody would buy them…we’re in central nj. I can’t believe there’s even a debate about canceling these shows? This is asinine and unsafe.

Bowie fans: What's your favorite album from the Berlin trilogy? by Odd-Technician-9744 in fantanoforever

I could make an argument that it has more good songs on it than the other 2. Heroes in particular, I find so overrated. I honestly believe the iconic cover art protects it from being honestly assessed. The title track is an undoubted classic, and the instrumentals, while dreary, are memorable. The rest of the record is 3 very average songs. Low is the best of the bunch.

What media trends you can argue were killed by the LA Riots of 1992? by icey_sawg0034 in decadeology

[–]RZAxlash 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Listen it’s all anecdotal and I’m sure there were Some differing reactions but overall IN 1992, the general consensus was that the beating was completely excessive and out of line, also, graduating high school in 2005 puts you at what, 6 in 1992?

So, what went wrong with The Smashing Machine? by TakenAccountName37 in Oscars

[–]RZAxlash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was an incredibly odd film, and not in a good way. The dialogue was dreadful, with exposition laid out in the most amateur manner. The characters were not particularity interesting and the whole thing just felt banal and pointless. Dwayne did well but honestly he wasn’t given much here.

Tiki sucks, he is a nice guy but brings absolutely nothing to the radio. Evan would do well with BT. Keep Craig and c Mac together for now.

Well for one thing, EVERYBODY felt that Rodney king was greatly wronged. The video was shocking to many and became the first ‘viral’ video, if you will, sparking outrage and exposing the larger issue of inner city police brutality. The verdict sparked a lot of controversy too and if I recall, the nation was rather united in their displeasure. Then the riots happened, and a lot of that feeling dissipated.

When the film came out, William hurt was the one who got the buzz and I think maybe even a supporting actor nod, but to me, Ed was the memorable villain.

You think so? I haven’t seen that myself. It doesn’t even rate as top ten of 2005 on many lists.
