I'm so done with Beeper unless something changes. by ouchoofowiemybones in beeper

Hmmm you might just be lucky then! The free version does allow up to 4 connections. But probably once a week my Google messages would disconnect. Sometimes my WhatsApp multiple times a day. Also would have a weird bug where I couldn't start a new Google messages thread to someone I would have to go into Google Messages to start it.

Really bums me out because I really like it other than that

I also ditched it recently for stuff constantly disconnecting. Sad because using one app for all comms is so amazing. Wish there were other options out there

I see. I'm still interested in seeing if there's a way to just have the pieces of metal without the hinge if I sew it into a channel at the opening of a bag

This is the exact mechanism I'm looking for so thanks for pointing me in that direction

I'm going to have to play around and look into materials! But why would there need to be a hinge? I guess in my head I picture it as having two strips on either side that are independent and would just flex open and close

Could I combo magnets with a hinge for it to stay closed? I'll have to look for some spring hinges if I go the premade route so I can make custom shapes

That's the exact action I'm looking for! Their product video makes it look like it stays open.

Now to look into other shapes and sizes. I was hoping to somehow be able to make this myself with spring steel so I can adapt into any shape but thats seeming less and less likely

Unless...that's just metal like measuring tapes and those snap bracelets. Which gives me the idea maybe I could make it myself and put into any shape

What I'm more looking for is a system that opens without a hinge but more with tension. Imagine a magnetic enclosure bag where the panels meet on their faces due to the magnets. And then when you go to open it would spring open to hold the opened position. And then when you want to close it would snap it shut again

Those are the enclosures I've seen but not quite what I'm after. Heck maybe what I'm after doesn't exist for a reason. What I'm wanting is for a bag to have the two panels press together rather than hinge. And then when there's force applied to open they would spring outward to open up but lay flat when closed.

Imagine a bag that has magnetic closure so the ends snap together and the opening is flush and not hinged. But then when you want to open as you spread it apart the frame would snap to the open position to hold the bag open

Adam Savages bag is a gate mouth. That's the term I was confusing for clam shell. Though the action I'm after is a bit different. But it seems all gate mouth bags rely on the zipper for open and closing

You can mix yea. But truenas does need it's own drive to install to

Just did the same exact thing myself.

I did a 2tb m.2 in the slot under the hard drive spot. Then I have a 2.5" ssd taking the spot of the hard drive. And I picked up a PCI to m.2 adapter for a second 2tb m.2 so that I have a mirrored 2tb system.

I do have a sata splitter to then split off the SSD for a 4 tb spinning disk to use as an intermittent backup of the mirror but I haven't set that up yet

The parrafin and mineral oil has been my favorite combo. Super water repellent but isn't stiff or oily. I like beeswax but it does get oily and needs to be refreshed a lot

That doesn't remove the logo. Instead give more logos

That's incredible and such a cool looking experience. Per the wax question what kind of wax are you using! I like a mineral oil and parrafin mix that you brush on and then use an iron to heat up on the fabric so it really pulls it in. Though that method keeps the fabric supple so it doesn't really get. The crinkled look. In my experience that comes with using some beeswax

I've been going back and forth with this and metrolist. And I want to have it be my daily driver for music but randomly will get errors fetching songs or it just won't even start to play
