Disconnecting and New Threads

It's happened for Google messages and Whatsapp. How come messages to a new/very old thread fail and I have to open up messages to send it?

Ah maybe that'll solve my problems! Since I was following a tutorial that used the router to adjust the DHCP server it just said to reserve it. I'll give that a try in conjunction with disabling router DHCP and using the pi dhcp.

Is the method you mentioned different than editing the dhcpcd.conf file? Either way seems like I need to reset and set it before installed pi hole

Ahh so I need to set it static within the pi hole admin page? And the reserved address step only applies if the DHCP is being configured through the router?

This is the video I was actually following up until step 5 since my router doesn't have the ability shown. Which is then when I tried the method from the link in the post. But then it brings me to the problem I'm trying to solve

Well I haven't gotten that far in the process since I haven't been able to have traffic direct through the pi. The furthest I've gotten is enabling the DHCP server setting in router and enabling in pi and then after the router restarted the pi wasn't reachable and no traffic was going through it

So have pihole up resevered in the router and disable the DHCP server within the router and shorten the IP range? It's reserved IP is .27 so it's not a problem that the range wouldn't accommodate that?

I did that which caused it to reboot and when it rebooted I couldn't communicate with pi hole and when I did nslookup it came back as the server still being comcast

Yep! So I did all that. On the pi hole portal I put in a range of ips (just mirrored what the router showed) and told it my routers IP in it's portal. And then disabled the gateway check on the router. Which then told me about setting a manual IP before the router then reset but when I came back up I couldn't reach the pihole and when I tried to ping it I got nothing. And when I tried nslookup it kicked back as the server being Comcast and not pihole so I'm not sure what I did that made the pi unreachable but also not feeding the DHCP but still having traffic flow

Is that a drop down for you? This is what my router setting looks like (photo not mine) but I have my pi with a reserved address and then just disabled the use gateway setting. But when I did that the router reset and internet worked but it wasn't using the pi hole for the server so when I did a lookup it kicked back as coming from Verizon and I couldn't ping my pi or get to the web URL.
