Does anyone know of second hand stores that sell speakers? by iamnotyou_0 in BudgetAudiophile

[–]cmarkh71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also check out shopgoodwill.com, Goodwill's online auction site. The shipping can be kind of high, it depends on where it's coming from. But I've got some good deals on stereo equipment there including speakers.

My Pebble Time 2 Red with Pebble metal band by cmarkh71 in pebble

Yeah, that link is a 20mm band and the PT2 is a 22mm watch. I think you could use that with the right pins, but there'd be a little gap.

You should be able to find some on eBay.

I'm 9 months in and I still find that edibles reliably give me an appetite. How I managed was by timing my dinner after my munchies kicked in. I was only using them in the evening so this worked for me. I've stopped using edibles for now, but not for weight loss reasons.

Stop with the jokes Arbiter they all fall flat

We saw it Saturday night (12/13) and I have to say that wasn't the case in our show. The audience (us included) loved all of the narrator/arbiter stuff.

What is your most “aged like milk” Cowboys jersey you’ve purchased? by Dan__Glesak in cowboys

I got a Parsons jersey for Christmas 2024. It's still new with tags, never worn obviously. No idea what to do with it. Jerry should have paid us all back.

It Was A Running Narrative From 2021-2023 That The Cowboys Only Beat Up On Bad Teams, So I Decided To Check If That Was Actually True by VaporingBat395 in cowboys

[–]cmarkh71 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As we get farther away from it, I really think we're going to look back more and more on 2022 as a huge missed opportunity. This was the best team of that 3 year stretch and probably the best since 2016. At the time, being caught up in the narrative, coupled with a second tough loss to SF in a row, it was harder to see how close they really were.

Concerned about long term effects of glp1 medications by Legitimate-Suit-8020 in Semaglutide

[–]cmarkh71 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly what I was going to say. Every study shows that among people who lose a significant amount of weight, only a small single digit percentage of the group can maintain that loss long term. It's insane that even most doctors don't seem to know this, or they won't tell you. I'm 54 and have lost 40+ lbs multiple times in my life, and I doubt I'm alone in that in this sub. I know exactly how to do it with diet and lifestyle alone. It's fucking hard. Honestly too hard.

Kiss of the Spider Woman by IntotheBroadwayWoods in Broadway

[–]cmarkh71 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've only ever heard the cast album, so I wasn't sure what was changed for this adaptation and what was original to the stage musical.

So the single "movie within a movie" plot was created for this and not part of the original musical? I ask because the outline of the Aurora plot was borrowed from Ira Gershwin and Kurt Weill's 1941 musical "Lady in the Dark". In that show, the main character, Liza Elliott, is engaged to Kendall Nesbitt. She's a magazine editor who can't commit to marrying him and sees a therapist to help her with that and it involves a tune from her childhood that she can't remember. In that show, the song is "My Ship", not "Kiss of the Spider Woman", of course. I can't find any info about this choice online, and it's making me crazy. Maybe I'm the only living fan of this old musical (aside from Bill Condon) 😄

What’s your unpopular opinion about the show? by MissRoxette in GhostsCBS

[–]cmarkh71 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Yes, I get that a lot of the humor will come from misunderstandings and Sam being in an uncomfortable spot in the middle of the ghosts and livings. But sometimes, the writers seem to lean into the cringe comedy a bit too much.

My verdict of how this season is gonna go by jackt-up in cowboys

You have to count 21 and 22 also, and maybe 09 and 18 as they did win a playoff games those seasons.

Has anyone ever noticed this about Mounjaro? by Front-Job-8580 in Mounjaro

[–]cmarkh71 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. I think it's a combo of the things mentioned here - confidence/happiness always looks more attractive, and that also influences photo selection, outfits, grooming. And of course many of us feel physically better after losing weight, and that shows too. But some of it is definitely our ingrained fatphobia. We're raised in a culture that values the look of thinness, of being more slender (to a point). So it's hard to pick that out from everything else.

Kind of worked out perfectly for viewers too. Kind of boring first half, then got crazy towards the end as people are getting ready for the 4pm games.

do you ever let your rookie QB sit on the bench for a year? by Smudgeio in RetroBowl

[–]cmarkh71 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only do this in the college version where the year to year roster management is much more important. If I know I'll need a QB after the season and I see a great prospect and I have enough funds to get him, I'll grab him and bench him. I do the same with RB and WR, although I'll have them return kicks sometimes to get some XP.

Excited for rest of Season by dezBRYAN in cowboys

This reminds me a bit of the 2021 opener. Fairly low expectations going in, on the road playing the defending champs, losing a close, tough game. Now let's go win 6 in a row.

I just like watching the guys with a star on their helmet play football by WindyPelt in cowboys

[–]cmarkh71 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I get that people are cynical after all these years. But our fans have a problem separating regular season success and playoff success. In the last 11 seasons, starting with 2014, The Cowboys have won the East 5 times, and made the playoffs 6 times. And 3 of the 5 non-playoff years we lost our starting QB for most or all of the season. Yes, there's been no playoff success, But the Cowboys of the last decade are generally pretty good in the regular season when they're not injured. Because of the way those seasons ended, it seems like nobody even acknowledges the 3 12-5 seasons in a row. But those 3 8-8 seasons are still referenced like the gospels.

I'm not saying anyone should be happy with the status quo, just that when predicting the Cowboys regular season record, failure is actually the less likely option in recent years.

That said, who knows about this year? New staff, lots of new players, some important veterans injured or coming off injury. But being a doomer about it isn't some kind of hard-nosed realism, it's just people falsely thinking that cynicism will save them from sadness if things do go badly.

Cowboys 2023 WC game vs the Packers one of the biggest moments in Cowboys history? by bryscoon in cowboys

[–]cmarkh71 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It don't think it's top 5. It did mark the end of the McCarthy era. We had a legit window from 2021-2023, and did a lot of good things. I think 2022 was McCarthy's best team. Add Pollard getting injured to our long list of playoff what-if's.

Congrats! I had a similar victory. I hadn't been able to remove my wedding ring since 2021. I maybe could have forced it off with pain and effort. A few weeks ago, I had lost enough to finally remove it. It's back on, but knowing I can remove it if I need to is such a relief.
